Oiled mine first and never had a Glitch? Runs like a well-lubed machine!!!!

That is my plan. I just got one and have an order of Ballistol on the way. I have seen a lot of folks have good luck with them but I figure a little lube can't hurt.

CCI Stingers have a slightly longer case than standard Long Rifle cartridges , which might interfere with cambering in tight or dirty chambers , or those on new , unlubed autoloaders that have not yet been broken in ...

After disassembling and cleaning and trying it again I have found that 1 magazine works perfectly. 2 of the magazines will not feed no matter what type of ammo…an update is coming. Thanks for watching!

keltec said NOT to use the slide lock to chamber, they said to sling shot the slide so that it has more forward force to push the round from the mag and chamber it.

      It didn’t work either way

@@grizzlysgunreview i tried the slide un lock and it sometimes does have issues chambering.
Since then i have sling shot it and it chambers perfect all the time.
One guy on RUclips said to do a fast sling shot and not a slow pull back and hold then release, he said that is mimic'ing a slide un lock 🤷🏽‍♂️

The manual also says to load 8 rounds then slap the back side of the mag to push the rounds down to the back wall.

Had this P17 for about 3 months now and have gone thru about 3k rounds ... I do about 250 per range day.
I do get stove pipes and a few failure to fire here and there and while monitoring these issues i have noticed that they are in a specific spot in the box.
I use cci mini mags which come in a box of 100 rounds. Each box will give me about 6 mags worth of ammo.
So what i do is keep track of the ammo as i fill the mags. SOme people just dump the 100 rounds on the table and fill the mags, i dont do that.
I slide the cover off to expose the 1st 16 rounds and use those to fill the 1st mag, then slide the cover to the next 16 rounds and use those to fill the 2nd mag and so forth until all the rounds are gone. So now i have the ammo in consecutive order from the box.
So as i fire off the 1st mag and 2nd mag and so forth, i noticed that every time i get a stove pipe or failure to fire, i note which mag it was to see where this ammo was in the box. Its usually 2-3 stove pipes per mag or the failure to fire in the same mag which tells me from that 100 round box, those duds were in the same area or those bad rounds were grouped together.
So out of 100 rounds all the bad ones were close together while the rest of them were all good and fine.
Today i went to the range and shot off 300 rounds.
    1st 100 were perfect
the 2nd box of 100, 5 mags fired perfect and 1 mag gave me 3 stove pipes
The 3rd box of 100 fired off perfect
So i noticed that all the stove pipes or the failures to fire are always close together and usually within the same 16 rounds of that mag.
I love to shoot this gun, its fun, its light and minimal issues and it was only $179 ....

If you lube the underside of the slide, it won't stick anymore

When i first got mine, i took it to the range and fired 150 rds and it gave me nothing but problems like FTF, FTE and Stovepipe. So, i took it home, cleaned and lubed. Took it out the next day and got a little less problem than yesterday. Took it back home, cleaned it and noticed a lot of black power built up around back of the barrel where feed ramp and barrel meet. So, I cleaned up those black shit and lube the gun except that area. I did make sure that area is totally dry. Then I racked the slide hundreds of time while watching TV until I can't feel my fingers any more🤣. Took it back to the range and fired 400 rounds without a single problems up until today. So far, i have fired about 2800 rounds through it with all kinds of cheap bullets most of them with Aguala super extra 38 grains and some cheap 40 grains. Those cost 5¢ to 7¢ per rounds. I hope that will help.

Mine’s on its way back to the factory today for the exact same issues. Over 400 rounds never made it through 1 mag without FTF.

I will definitely say they have great customer service and when you get it back it should work great. I will do an update this weekend.

Use a dry lube, graphite, like McLube. Oil just for rust preventer. My first few mags were just like that but it is much better now

Kel tec is sending 2 new mags. Let’s see what happens before you get discouraged. The gun runs perfectly on 1 of the mags.

i was using the wrong ammo at 1st and i about threw that gun away. i was so pissed but it was all my fault. After switching to cci mini mags, this gun runs good.
Just going to say that not all guns are perfect, some will have some issues while others have NO issue. Its a $200 gun so its not like you are dumping $400+ on a gun that is going to give you issues.
i KNOW for a fact that the TX-22 and the P322 ands the SR22 all have magazines that you have to load them carefull and properly and if you don't, you are going to get jams all the time. My SW MP15-22 is also like that, if you load it wrong, its going to jam and it has many times because i loaded them wrong, now i got it mastered so i can shoot off 300 rounds with NO issues PLUS i am using AR dedicated rounds which is a plus.
This keltec mag is dummy proof, it loads like a center fire and you cant load it wrong.

I got my P17 about a month ago and got it out to the range twice now. Put about 500 rounds through it and I gotta say, your out of the box experience has been far different than mine. Mine ate everything I fed it with only three ftf on the first magazine. I've run Aquila 38 grain and some old Thunderbolt I had in a leftovers box for a few years. The only thing I've had after the first ftf issues was a few rounds that didn't pop when struck, but that happens with rimfire a fair bit, and the casing strike didn't look light when I looked them over. Yours may just need a little tlc before it starts behaving itself.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about the p17. I am in the process of getting it looked at by keltec. So far their cs has been outstanding. An update will come soon and hopefully it will be good news. Thanks for watching.
