@@rocketresto The sad part is most of that stuff will just rust away unused. The next generation doesn't care about those cars. Just like I don't care about model A's and T's.

Ahhhh, you’re beyond a hoarder, love it. Love any and all Mopar stuff, I had three scouts, 64,65 and a 72, your right on the 60’s scouts. I broke front leaf springs 4 times, 2 rear axles, not the housing but the axles themselves. I liked how everything was tucked up under the frame though. I had in the 65 the half V8 slant 4 thingy, with the oil bath air filter, 3spd with warn overdrive, can’t remember the transfer case, not the T-90 maybe T-14 something. It had way cool 4:88 Detroit lockers front and back I think? Can’t remember, one wheel slipped the other took over back and forth, it was a crawler but very light duty.
AWESOME! Ive never been there in person but I do know John....Such a great guy! We actually just met up with him in Ohio on the 4th of July to get 61 Chrysler parts..... If not for him Id not be able to finish up the rust repair on my Dads 61 NewYorker two door.... We also have one of his black plate 1960 Fury two door that runs and drives......
I like pearl paint on this era of mopar. The soft radius steel stampings jump out more than metallic paint. There was a 60 or 61 Dodge in aqua pearl on this channel a few months back that probably looked a lot better today than it did on the showroom floor.
@@rocketresto Haha yes. This brand might be distributed throught Chrysler group maybe. And in France I think the Simca brand became part of the Peugeot Chrysler Jeep(?) group, and I think then Simca became Talbot ( A brand name that disapeared some years ago ). Not sure of the chrtonology of the Simca to Talbot brand change . But yeah they have their link with the Chrysler group :) .
I do enjoy seeing the cars I grew up with. I was born in forty nine so my like or dislikes don't matter to anyone anymore. They want a "cool" SUV from the current years of the two thousands. I never even wanted near a station wagon when I was young. I see a guy who is up in years who has collected many rigs and has a value system meaning most of these cars will never see the road again. Piled deep and forgotten, brush growing around them. He will like all of us die at some point and all of his collection will go to scrap. Kids today have a total different value system and would not be caught in a 61 plymouth convertible, and that is one that has been restored to perfection with no imperfections. Still ever popular was tri five chevy's which I just could not afford at the time and also had fords on my mind. I could afford them, I never lost a race while growing up as the big block fords were my choice. My dad was a chrysler guy meaning any dodge or plymouth, and I was born in the back of a near new 47 chrysler four door car. Oddly I do remember it so very well as it sat in our yard for years with a transmission that had started to slip.
Thanks Tom. It's too bad (or fortunate!) we're on opposite coasts or I'd be dropping by your shop all the time. ;-) Generally I love the looks of the Exner period, but the '61 Darts were just weird, particularly the rear looks like a mix of conflicting ideas between the taillight design and the angled fins and how they're shaped. I had a first-year '60 Dart Pioneer 2dr sedan (powerflite, poly 318), and it was just really cool, style-wise, while my neighbor growing up had a wrecked '61Pioneer sitting out back for years. It was hard for me to believe they were the same model only a year apart.
Yep there was a 56 Dodge 4dr hardtop. Black and white. Rare to see a hardtop 4dr. More rare than a coupe. I had seen that car in another channel's video some time back. It was by the sweptline short/long bed. Guess I need to win the lottery. 😅
Very cool 🤙 I'm from Spokane and been going through a couple old collections. I've definitely found a bunch of good old stuff. What collection did the 61 from Spokane come from?
What a great yard John is a great bloke and got most things you want I have found him very helpful
Super nice guy!
John's great! been there many times and always fun.
Good dude.
One man's trash is another man's treasure.....
Those old junkyards are cool. And kinda sad. I love walking around in junkyards. Thanks for the tour.
Glad John is saving these for the next generation

Another great video Tom. You certainly have the right connections to do what you do. 👍
It’s cool to know that places like this still exist… For now.
That little pickup is a Simca, so part of the Mopar family.
Right, I like it!
@@rocketrestome too!
C@@rocketrestothat 60 Dodge?...was it a matador?
@@clevelandmaker386we dropped off a 61 Phoenix convertible
Right on! A SIMCA Intendante. Circa 1957. Chrysler owned SIMCA into the ‘70’s.
Love the FORWARD LOOK cars. Awesome 61 Dodge, Hope it is restorable. These cars are to COOL for some.
I love that 61 Phoenix. Price must have been too steep for that not to sell.
Very restorable.
Had it listed for $2500 and it didn’t sell. Shipping costs that much to go back east.
Absolutely, junk yards, auto wrecking yards are great to spend a nice day taking in. (If you can get past the grouchy front man)
Good thing with this one is John isn’t that grumpy!
I like the dk green `61 Polara hardtop under the tree! A rare model and this one looks fairly complete!
Super rare, it’s a runner.
Love the poly motor Mopar old school for life .👍🏻🇦🇺.
They are great motors.
Thank you for being smart enough to record video correctly!
Thanks, I think

I am serious. Too many people record video in that stupid vertical mode. It looks horrible on a computer screen when in vertical form.

Sorry to hear that, you are welcome to stop by if we are around.
Love a good junkyard crawl!!
We are losing so many of these places, treasure the ones we have.
I absolutely love the Exner era cars. The tour had me on the edge of my seat. I chuckled at the Fozzie bear Studie comment.
It’s his natural habitat
I love these tour videos of mass collections awaiting another chance.
My favorite videos!
I've bought stuff from John and yes is a cool guy.
Super nice dude
Take care of Jamie, he sounds a little overwhelmed recently.
Great video Tom, thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Wow city
You don’t see yards like this anymore.

Like the idea of a scout more than the actual ownership experience. Wouldn’t mind ending up with one eventually but it’s going to have to find me.

It’s worth a trip out to the yard, magical place.
@@rocketresto we plan on it! Wanting to drive the 61 Chrysler out so he can sign the glove box!
I'm gonna save this place to my list. Might buy a Mopar someday and finding parts in Europe is a mission impossible for these.
John is a great resource.

Amazing designs then. When designers didn’t have to work around federal regs
5:23 this is an incredibly rare Simca Aronde pickup
Kind of a Mopar then

Mid-60s Barracuda rear windows are neither scarce nor particularly expensive. Try finding one for a 57 Firedome or a Saratoga.
We did a whole video about those rear windows and how they are basically worthless! The forward look ones on the other hand…not easy.
Polara needs turbo sign of god bro.

I am a big fan of old Mopars, but that 61 Dart is hideous.
It’s an acquired taste. Almost so ugly it’s cool.
