Should be called the SL3-S(5II). Imagine having the brand power to take an already existing camera, remove some functionality, put it in a different wrapper and charge like 3 times the price of that camera. It's both gross and grudgingly admirable. Great video (as usual).
As always, Gordon, you are the premier reviewer for complete and unbiased reviews. I have an SL3 and an SL2-S. It sounds like the SL3-S is a substantial improvement, but not enough to make me want to trade up from my SL2-S. Sounds like a very good option, however, for someone wanting to get into the SL system.
Gordon I know we’d all like a bag with a couple of cameras with the Leica Red Dot! They, like Arri, have some interesting color science, nice menus and function. Then there is the PRICE!🤑💥
I have the Panasonic S1. It still does everything well. I wish I had an S1R body for photography. I also wish L-Mount propagated through Samyang, Tamron, and "other" lens brands.
Much of that is for the body, where it's built, the UI, the brand etc. If you want the latest or full specs, it makes sense to buy a mainstream brand as I said in the video.
@ but then there's the same argument that Fujifilm will give you that for less too. Both Hasselblad and Leica repackage existing sensors into more interesting bodies and UI experiences.

I hope to see a high-end camera from Panasonic this year
is it basically Lumix S5IIX but Leica?
Have you watched the review?
For anyone on L system, this will make the SL2-S more (relatively) affordable on used market 😀
Very true
Beautiful thing. That 30fps shooting seems quite useful.
Now where'd I put my extra kidney....
Hopefully you've not already sold it
New Lumix S1rII will be out soon...
First LIKE and first COMMENT here... Greetings from Jakarta...!😊
Welcome!
If Leica wants to charge this much for a camera in 2025, they have to include all of the latest tech other companies offer at the bare minimum.
Much of that is for the body, where it's built, the UI, the brand etc. If you want the latest or full specs, it makes sense to buy a mainstream brand as I said in the video.
@@cameralabs yep and you are right
Leica always makes me think why on earth would you spend that much, if you want qualty then just get a Hasselblad.
Similar proposition, they appeal to a similar market, but there are brand preferences. Both certainly doing something unique.
Nice shot! Proper Snark noted...
Buying Hasselblad is just a complex way to buy a DJI 😉
It's quite difficult to beat 100 megapixels in a large format body.
@ but then there's the same argument that Fujifilm will give you that for less too. Both Hasselblad and Leica repackage existing sensors into more interesting bodies and UI experiences.
I like that Les Paul!
Love the GAK shop in Brighton!
Wow awesome
wow!
nice
Stylish hyper exepensive whit an awfull on/off button.
Made in Germany with Chinese made parts
Same for any product. Some of the components will always come from China, even if the final assembly isn't.
So you only get a cropped 4K60p in 2025? Wow so impressive :D
For sure there's better specced cameras if you want, say, uncropped 4k 60 oversampled, like R6 II, R8 etc.
@@cameralabs no clog2, i have the original r6
