Thank you for this video. Very clear and detailed information. My small channel is growing very very slowly but I am enjoying the process and learning all the cool stuff that goes into filming and editing. Getting monetized will be the cherry on top.
You are doing great, I got monetized in May and my first 3 months I have made 150.00. I’m 65 and do travel so not a high RPM however I love the process and creativity. Ideas for you for future videos, Why did you get into acting? People with red hair, they seem to do outstanding things? What is it like auditioning for parts? Been viewing you since your subs were in single digits, plan on watching the whole journey, however long that takes. Keep on trucking, whoops, showing my age😊
Hey, Darren...that's a great breakdown. Having just uploaded my first video on a new, more personal channel I started from scratch, I don't even know why I clicked on a video about making money knowing I'm so far away from that. I shoot and edit for a living, so the love of doing it is still there. I'll just continue to plug along, if it was meant to be I'll get monetized someday. Keep grinding, you're doing great.
Great video, Darren! Straight to the point, especially for the smaller channels which is really helpful for them. The long game will help us win, you've just got to play for awhile. Cheers!

I do my photoshoots for free because I love it and I love talking about photography and cars and many other things. Looking forward to seeing your future work man. Keep going.

@@DarrenNaylor I appreciate all you do. I don't think you realize how much of an inspiration to me you are. I love your videos, your delivery, and sly off handed jokes. Brilliant style. I'm hoping to get my channel to that level someday soon as well.
I, personally want to focus on getting my next videos to be better but monetization is an option I’d like to explore hopefully. Still finding my niche tho tbh
Getting monetized is such a huge accomplishment tho, and I think not enough people realize how crazy it is to do it part time. That's why I know creators like you, when you decide to make it full time you're just gonna blow up Also unless Amazon is sold out of the Shotgun Mic, that link might be broken
The take away for my experience, is that monetization via google adsense is only one small piece of the pie. And no matter the size of the channel, that will likely remain the smallest piece. My channel is for the purpose of driving clients to my business, and I am only getting around 10k - 12k views (all long form) per month. This month, as an example, I will earn over $20k gross revenue from business that came to me via youtube. I will make around $80 (yes eighty dollars) in the same time frame from adsense. So when people ask me "OMG that's so cool, how much does youtube pay you?" I wanna me like WHO CARES 😂😂 the channel is valuable to my business because it drives clients my way. The TLDR: if you have a youtube channel, you should be trying to figure out how you're planning on monetizing the views you get through YOUR endeavors. How can you create an economy that capitalizes on those views? Leaving it up to youtube is going to be leaving a ton of money on the table, and likely make you burn out.
My problem is wanting to post 2 different types of content. Financial and lifestyle type of videos. But I heard it’s hard to grow if you don’t stick too one niche
I hear you and have thought the same. Ultimately I’ve decided that even if the growth is slower and more challenging that I’ll likely have more longevity just focusing on one channel that has multiple niche interests of mine. I’ll try to find a way to combine them when I can but I think trying to grow multiple at this stage wouldn’t go as well. Probably varies on the person but I think you should just talk about both and see how it goes.
Thanks for the inspiring video. On my way to the 1000 subscribers now which I think I should be able to reach by year's end, but I can also see that getting these 4000 watch hours is going to be MUCH more complicated... Anyway, like I said, inspiring stuff, thanks for sharing.
@@DarrenNaylor glad you did, anywho great advice. Also, your videos will create a snowball effect soon and start to pay good, especially when one or two goes viral then they come and discover your other videos. You’re on the way indeed.

Hey Darren , really nice video ! I was wondering if I could help you with more Quality Editing in your videos and also make a highly engaging Thumbnail and also help you with the overall youtube strategy and growth ! Pls let me know what do you think ?
I'd say do both and cut your long form videos into shorts so you're able to double dip off videos. That way you can benefit from growth on both in case one does better than the other depending on the video.
The requirements have changed. You might want to obtain the current info and update this. 500 subs now and I believe 3,000 watch hours. Don't quote me in that tho. Definitely 500 subscribers now, not 1,000.

Most people are only really interested in ad revenue which is what I talked about.
