Brother in mind 😉 me (Germany, 65) also using the basha and the bivy , MTP. Ok, a different cooking set, but in the end of the surplus works great, better to carry a bit of more weight, but really good to trust in! Regards from Germany!
Have to agree. Ive got both ultralight gear and military gear, and I almost always end up bringing the surplus stuff. I like not having to worry about it getting damaged. Dont even notice the weight difference either.
So true. What most people don’t know is that this stuff is made to spec. Huge difference to stuff you buy in outdoor stores where everything is overpriced and falls apart after 10 days of actual use.
You cant beat army surplus for quality gear at a reasonable price 👍 i purchase alot of the clothing for outdoorr activities, i habe the army winter sleeping bag and it is awesome and takes up little room in a stuff sack.. Great informative video 👍
Nice vid, short, to the point and says everything you want to say! I love all my military surplus, as you say, it's heavy but it is extremely durable and affordable.
Yep, because it’s military doesn’t mean it’s the best. BUT it’s tried & tested & is often more than adequate for the job. It’s definitely affordable & allows you to get out there
I'm an ultralight fan these days, but I still class my Dutch army hooped bivvy and British army arctic sleeping bag as two of my favourite/reliable/durable bits of kit when carrying more weight isn't an issue. The build quality of this stuff is unbeatable for the price. 👍
Still take my Basha to Dartmoor with me, it's never let me down through some horrible weather, cut off the stetcher straps to lighten it up a bit . Might still be heavier than other tarps but it's worth it for the peace of mind.
Hey Mate good to see you. None of my kit is considered "light". My "imported" Redcamp 10'x10' tarp is mid weight. Sleep system is a Klymate air mattress and USGI poncho & liner (ranger roll). Cook set, the BCB folding stove, USGI canteen cup and stove. Pack is an actual "made in Germany" Bundeswehr Jager Alpine. Almost 3 figures but I know it won't let me down. Take care of yourself buddy !
If u want to stay warmer u should strip down to your underwear when lying on your sleeping bag in your bivi bag then get into your sleeping bag. It’s you that warms your bag and if u can use a sleeping bag liner

I'm glad you chose the noodles! Can't go far wrong with army surplus. Always good to see you on your adventures
Front pocket is also the right size for 2 army mess tins with the folding hexi stove inside. 😉

Nice to see Bungees being used, a rare item with Bushcraft/Survival channels nowadays.
That's all I use if I'm not in my vango tent ,and bivvy bag I couldn't do without
Nothing quite like a military surplus gear haul!
Can’t argue with that
By far the best way to camp I have the identical set up but I use a self inflating mat by oex
100% Matthias!
One of my side pouches is Rats the other side is my Hootchie/Basha
How you doing? Missing your updates. Hope your problems were solved. Chin up. 👌
