If you do the calculations, the ideal ratio of Propylene gas to oxygen is 80.67% O2 and 19.32% C3H6. It's nice to see the theory agreeing with the trial-and-error results! In case anyone cares, here's how I got that: Propylene gas complete combustion is 2C3H6+9O2=>6CO2+6H2O so that's a 1:4.5 ratio of gas to oxygen by moles. O2 = 32 g/mol C3H6 = 42 g/mol Taking the 1:4.5 mole ratio into account, 144g O2 would react completely with 42g of Propylene gas. A quick google search shows that the density of Propylene gas is 1.74 g/L and for O2 it's 1.429 g/L. Finally, volume = mass/density so: vol_o2 = 144/1.429 = 100.76 L vol_propylenegas = 42/1.74 = 24.14 L We only care about the ratio so we need to divide both numbers by the sum of both numbers. i.e. vol_o2% = 100.76 / (100.76+24.14) = 80.67% vol_propylenegas% = 24.14 / (100.76+24.14) = 19.32% I am such a nerd 😅
