KD 2 is too underrated. Fantastic album. People forget it's a concept album revolvung around magic or mysticsm stuff( even tho Nas clearly stated that he doesn't be live in those weird shit) the songs were all fire. No skips
Thanks for the video. I have considered doing a video on this double trilogy for a while. We are blessed to have these great albums so late in Nas's career. Goat status cemented, again! My order is 1.KD2 (best song structure and most memorable songs) 2. Magic (most authentic and concise album) 3. KD3 (favourite samples from Hit-Boy) 4. Magic 3 (best percussion by Hit-Boy) 5.KD1 (most accessible) 6. Magic 2 (most unique words.) Thank you!!!
Magic is the series where the albums were droppin by suprise and albums were different sounds different approaches and experimental. Kd series were the ones where they plan on giving you what u want.
1) KDIII - Nas' Victory Lap & A Perfect Album. *Too many notable songs 2) KDII - A Perfect Album *Notable songs: Death Row East Store Run Nobody, amongst others 3) Magic - Gave his fan exactly what they missed *Notable songs: Speechless Meet Joe Black 40-16 4) Magic 2 - Experimental with flows & grooves *Notable songs: Bokeem Woodbine Slow It Down Pistols On Your Album Cover 5) Magic 3 - Missed the mark of greatness for me. Still really good *Notable songs: Fever TSK 1-800-NAS&HIT 6) KD - Experimental with younger artists and newer sounds. Won a Grammy. *Notable songs: Car 85 27 Summers Spicy
I don't agree... with all 6 different versions of Nas during this run, Magic 3 captured the true essence of him when u look back at the Illmatic/It was written era... but that's me! No tears, fever, true events part 1, and soul bar was too strong of tracks
Finally someone who appreciates KD2 the same way I do! My List is exactly the same. The crazy thing is there wasn't one week album on this run with Hit-Boy, which is mindblowing!
@Soul In Stereo....I see you repping the NSU shirt my daughter is a graduate of the college. Any order with the Kings Disease/Magic series I'm not mad at. All of them were different and unique in there own way. Nas & Hitboy deserve all the flowers they are receiving from the fans!!!
@@ltod2 absolutely. It’s definitely in my top 5 in Nas’s discography, and i think from an objective standpoint on lyricism and word play, KD3 is arguably his best
Nice review. I have this way: KD3>M3>Magic>KD2>M2>KD1 Illmatic - Classic aka New Testament of Hip-Hop! KD3 - Classic Magic 3 - Clasic Magic - Classic IWW - Classic Stillmatic - Classic LT1 - Classic LIG - Classic (1st Grownman Hip-Hop Album, which J tried to emulate with 4:44) KD2 - Classic GS - Classic DR - Classic (Unlike any other Hip-Hop album with Africa Vibes) Magic 2 - Very Good concept album KD1 - Fantastic Album Untitled - Is a very good album, has aged well & will stand the test of time due to its content. HHID - Good album, has aged well I Am - Good album, has aged well, original version would have been Classic if not for sabotage by Record Label & Leaking it. LT2 - Good, some very good highs, but more lows SD - Good, it would have been very good if just 1 album instead of 2LP has aged well. Nasir - Feels rushed, with 1-2 Excellent tracks. Nastradamus - OK, the highs are special, which would have been on I Am, but too many lows for me, but has aged well.
# 1 Kd3- # 2 Kd2 - # 3 Magic 1 # 4 magic 3 # 5 KD1 # 6 Magic 2 my list my Favorite song out of the trilogy is MEET JOE BLACK🔥 Nothing is under 4 1/2 Stars ⭐️
1. KD3 2. Magic 3. KD2 4. Magic 3 5. KD1 6. Magic 2 I think Magic 2 and Magic 3 should have been one album(epecially since they were released so close together). If you take the best of both albums and combine them, you'd have a sprawling epic akin to KD3 in length and tonal shifts. The magic series is strange in that only the 2nd one really tapped into the theme of "magic" in song titling and concept.
Magic 2 was themed but the releases of 1 and 3 where magical because they were released as magic tricks. Its like he snapped his fingers and went back to 95 nas on the first magic. Then snapped a finger and went current/futuristic and modern sounds styles he never used before like office hours which was like a gunit sound. Then dropped magic 3 2 months later. As another magic trick like MG is a kimgs disease sounding album. Sheesh
KD II is my overall favorite However....Magic 3 has grown on me like a fungus. I had Magic 2 over Magic 3 buuuuttt....... My order is now... 1. KD 2 2. Magic 3 3. Magic 2 4. Magic 5 . KD 3 6. Personally, YES, I'd want that, I wanted it since 1999. But I don't think a Nas/Premier album would have the same cultural impact as Hit-Boy's collabs.

KD 2 is too underrated. Fantastic album.

KD2 is my personal best of the 6 albums but I can understand why many root for KD3.
Thanks for the video. I have considered doing a video on this double trilogy for a while. We are blessed to have these great albums so late in Nas's career. Goat status cemented, again! I totally agree with your KD2 take. It’s definitely his most underrated album.
This is a great video. Nas and Hitboy made 6 quality albums in three years. It's definitely legendary.
Magic is the series where the albums were droppin by suprise and albums were different sounds different approaches and experimental. Kd series were the ones where they plan on giving you what u want.
For me:

I loved Magic 2 because of the experimental sounds and grooves and it was kinda short and to the point.
Magic 3 got some major tunes I really love. Neva Die (The Wayne feature is bananas) Based on true events pt1 and Speechless pt 2.

I wish they took the best of Magic 2 and 3 and just made it one album
Different sonically, it wouldn't have fit together as one.

U think premo can make 2020 version tracks that speak to today?
