- Nas sits down with Ebro Darden in the Apple Music studio to discuss his latest album, ‘Kings Disease II,’ a record that he had longed produce but was unable to, until he had the time to sit down and reflect over the past year. ‘King’s Disease II’ incorporates the style and technique of the past and the present with tracks like “Store Run” paying homage to Nas’s childhood, juxtaposed with “YKTV,” which was influenced by young collaborators YG and A Boogie Wit da Hoodie. Nas also shouts out Ms. Lauryn Hill, a longtime friend and musical inspiration, and his producer, Hit-Boy, who has been instrumental to his most recent album. For sure. There was a time when he was hesitent about interviews. Even in a song he said he didn't like doing interviews. It's so good he's being more open, he's a really interesting, intelligent dude and a legend.

The ironic thing is that Nas' Illmatic was one of the reasons rappers started working with various producers on the same album.
And yet, after all these years, if Nas and Hitboy keep up this beautiful chemistry, it'll be a very strong argument for why it's probably better to stick with one producer.

Magic is a classic. I wasnt a fan of a lot of the beats from Hit Boy but Magic is precisely named because I think the beats match Nas flow.
Nas and Hitboy is easily one of the most unlikely duo I've ever seen in all of music, and it worked beautifully.

I remember back in my high school days listening to "Illmatic" at a friend's house on cassette tape in the morning before school and my mind was blown. 30 years later, he's still dropping albums. Also, it's not like Nas is just going through the motions and dropping mediocre albums, he's still dropping incredible albums.

No matter what perfecting the creative process in your own eyes will never stop, perfect creation is unobtainable, and Nas is a perfect example. Premo does the same beats over and over....Loop soul sample, similar drum pattern, and other rapper's lyrics scratched into the hook...I think Nas has evolved past that sound at this point. The music he does now fits a 50 year old man better. Hit boy is more diverse and refined.
