Wow! Thanks a lot for all the nice words, Richard🥰 I am really honored! I would like to share this spot with my co-designers, though. It is the shared work that creates the result of the finished game. I only did Mangrovia (back in the days) on my own😀
What a great vidéo ! I will hardly tell whose designer is my favorite - there are so many brillant ones - but I can tell about my favorite french designer, and this is Antoine Bauza (Hanabi, Oltree...) with a honorable mention to Manuel Rozoy (Time Stories) and Bruno Faidutti (Citadels). I really like playing 7 Wonders...but I don't like Five Tribes.
Thank you for this! I was just thinking the other day how great it would be to have a current top 10 designers video and here you are with top 20! Always going above and beyond. Thank you!
actually for me martin wallace's best design by far is anno 1800 (and #2 is london). i thought about including him on the last, but in the end so many of his games aren't for me it just didn't make sense :(
Dávid Turczi with Anachrony as my favorite of his designs (I have not played Voidfall), but mainly his solo designs. Often a lot of work (Teotihuacan and Undaunted: Normandy), but brilliant.
I understand you end up leaving some big names any time you come up with such a list. Yet I feel the need to mention some more of my favourite designers. Cole Wehrle: John Comapny Shem Phillips: Scholars of the South Tigris Justin Gary: Shards of Infinity Vladimír Suchý: Pulsar 2849
cole was discused in the "just missed the list" portion at the end. plus shem & vladamir were both on my earlier "top10 designer" lists, and i didn't want to repeat entries :)
shem was on an earlier version of my lists (though really it should be philips + mcdonald) and ray had cole in her "just barely missed it" list at the end of the video, so great calls! :)
We played Deep Sea Adventure over zoom during the pandemic shutdown and laughed a ton. (I always drown.) Also, hearing about Lorenzo Il Magnifico reminds me I have to get it to the table. Bought it a while back but have yet to play it. Nice list! There are so many talented designers out there.
Vlaada Chvátil didn't make the list?! 😦 Mage Knight, Through the Ages, Dungeon Petz, Codenames... he's designed so many qualty games! ...at least he got an honorable mention.
Cole Wehrle, John Company second edition. Cole got robbed haha. I don’t know any designer who makes games this innovative, spiky and that also have so much to say.
ah i just figured out why i didn't notice this! youtube has a new feature called "stable volume" and i have that turned on, and it does a great job at handling variable volume levels! i'm not sure if you have access to this (apparently youtube is slowly rolling it out and not all viewers have access to the feature) but i can confirm it works really well :)
Wondering when this was recorded. Are you aware of Lord Of The Rings Duel? Everything that 7 Wonders has to offer and maybe just a little bit more. 7 Wonders Duel is definitely great but I like LOTR Duel better.
@@rahdo Yes, I saw that later on in the video. It will be interesting to see where LOTR lands. The 7 Wonders Duel expansions may keep it as the better of the two. Meanwhile, I'd forgotten that Five Tribes is a Bruno Cathala game. Tough call. Let's just say I'm on the lookout for anything by him ever since Splendor Duel came out.
hmm, #6 on boardgamegeek ranking list vs #22 means bgg agrees. but i still maintain that wild tiled west is better than both of them put together! :) no matter how you slice it though, that paul dennen is quite the talent :)

oh and it was mangrovia that put you on top! :)
Thanks for mentioning my Knizia video, Ray! 😊
Thanks so much for the kind words Richard! We are still working on the Elysium situation.... :)

No love for Martin Wallace and his best design - Brass?

I understand. Glad you are trying to spotlight more designers this way rather than just repeating the same list of name each time :)
Cole werhle (root or John Company)
Shem Philips - Sam MacDonald (Ezra and Nehemiah or wayfarers)
Stefan Feld (castles of burgundy)
shem was on an earlier version of my lists (though really it should be philips + mcdonald) and ray had cole in her "just barely missed it" list at the end of the video, so great calls! :)
Nice list , loved it! For me Dune always wins over Clank for sure but Clank legacy 1 comes very very close.

Chris’ designer interviews are great 🎉
agreed!
Vlaada Chvátil didn't make the list?! 😦
Mage Knight, Through the Ages, Dungeon Petz, Codenames... he's designed so many qualty games!

he was on my original list 10 years ago :)
Cole Wehrle, John Company second edition. Cole got robbed haha. I don’t know any designer who makes games this innovative, spiky and that also have so much to say.
cole did get a shoutout in in the final "just missed it" section from ray iirc :)
Dune Imperium easily 😊
Definitely Dune Imperium over Clank!
Chris is so much louder than the other two, I was watching with headphones on and had to stop to save my ears.
sorry about that :(

this was recorded a few days ago, and wee did talk about lotr duel in the "rahdo & alex talk about 10-2" section :)

boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/415780/lure :)
Dune Imperium > Clank

Garphil gets no love?? Unsuscribe!
....maybe....
they were on one of my earlier top 10s, plus ruel and the gang talked about them in the "just missed it" section :)
