Brian Blush definitely had a signature style... that DNA in his playing like so many great guitarists, you could pick his sound out of a crowd. I was lucky enough to see The Refreshments at 'Canes in San Diego back around 1996. What a show! Thanks for the great video.
@@RyanLendt It actually was a lucky night. A band called "13 Cats" opened for The Refreshments. The bassist was Slim Jim Phantom... the upright bass player from Stray Cats. They really sucked, but as it turned out, Brian Setzer was there to see his old band mate play. He was hanging out at the back of the room and I bumped into him on the way to the bathroom. He was a genuinely nice guy. I bought him a beer and we chatted for a few minutes, and at no time did he seem put out by some stranger talking to him about Stray Cats or the Brian Setzer orchestra, who I had seen a few times at that point. In fact, he seemed earnestly interested in my thoughts about the BSO. Just a real down to earth dude.
This made my year, Ryan, thank you! The Refreshments, and now Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers have brought me musical and personal joy for over 20 years now. In fact, my Matchless Chieftan was previously owned by Brian Blush, former lead guitar player of The Refreshments. When I bought it from him (years and years ago) he told me it was the amp they recorded both albums with. Thank you so much, please do more Refreshments/Peacemakers material, and as Roger Clyne says, ¡Here’s to Life!
Awesome video! I don't play guitar, but fun to see how one of my favorite songs is played. I was lucky enough to Brian Blush play it live a few years back in Fort Collins. Roger Clyne was doing a solo show and Brian appeared out of nowhere and joined Roger on stage for a bunch of Refreshments/Peacemakers tunes
Loved this one, super underrated band. fizzy fuzzy big and buzzy an incredible album from start to finish. would love more of these or some campfire covers.
After the passing of our beloved Mr. Hawkins, I searched through your Foo Fighters playlist in search of I'll Stick Around. Surprisingly I found that you hadn't done it yet, so for the next available Foosday I'd like to add it to the long list of requests.
Sorry I'd seen the ladder bit once before. But keep on with such nonsense. I enjoy most of your other humor. Like the super secret code names--a real hoot going through the list and trying to guess which song is what.
Guitar lessons with me are refreshing ;) Schedule one here! www.ryanlendt.com/lessons

So like now that you're up to 80k do I get a raise?
well, i have been allowing you to go to the bathroom 10x per year. I suppose you can have a 40% raise.
Jean Luc Picard
Nothing foolish about that. It's my mom's birthday. I know she's a fan of yours. I don't feel like calling her so hey mom, Happy birthday.
I'll see her later, I'll give her your best
