Shadow brought a nice fish for lunch and Jackie came along closely behind singing her fish song. They both did a little nest-keeping and then retired to the roosting tree.

So sad when they both looked directly into the camera before they fledged the tree As if to say this journey is over.. Thanks to the mods and cams. Even though it's been a journey of lots of ups and downs, it still has been a journeny of a loving and devoted couple. My heart is sad, and I pray to see them their nesting journey. always..

I am posting a reply to someone else’s comment here so we as a group can consider this.
Of course we feel the desire to intervene on behalf of Jackie and Shadow directly but we are mere observers. Like many, I sit here every day, tears streaming down my face because I feel so much love for this beautiful pair. I think of how hard they work, how dedicated they are, to each other and in their mission. Yet we know to interfere is outside our purview. Their instincts and bodies are equipped in fine detail. To assist in some way risks inhibiting those natural processes.
We can help though. In fact, I believe in learning about and experiencing a kinship with these incredible beings, comes a natural desire to protect them from dangers they are unaware of and helpless to defend against. We have a responsibility to our fellow inhabitants on this earth. How wonderful Jackie and Shadow define for and connect us with the natural world.
I want to learn more about what we can do to protect the land they live on. We’ve been informed that it was threatened before and will be again. Without a place, they have no chance. I hope we can all pull together for this cause. That’s what Jackie and Shadow need from us!
Please excuse me for going on. I know all of you feel the same passion and concern for Jackie and Shadow.
Bald Eagles, . truly a spirit of resilience and dedication. Maybe, next season. Maybe. But at least they have each other, which is beautiful.

This is the first time I ever watched Shadow and Jacie videos. It became a daily thing to watch. God bless them! Learned a lot too. Can't imagine building a nest like that with just a beak. They put many humans to shame. with what they can do. Hope their future is brighter for them.

Never seen Jackie consume the eggs before. Shadow bringing her fish to the nest, kinda unusual after they quit incubating. I am praying for another clutch!!!!
I keep thinking about what could have been. They are such good parents, I hate that we didn't get to watch them raise 3 to fledgeing
By now the babies would be getting big and soon they would fledged and leave their parents for good. Once the eaglets can feed rhemselves they leave and the parents do not interact with them ever again. So Jackie and Shadow would be alone with only each other either way. It's not like they'd be living in a big family, having close relationships with their offspring.

They certainly chose a tree with a view. ❤ Beautiful. Did I miss something? In comments some are saying it's over? They still have the nest. It's their home. Jackie wanted to clean the nest, which would mean she prepared for possible new eggs. Maybe not straight away. 🤔 Well. The wee ones are not to be, but the nest is still there. And on we go....Such is the life on the wings of Eagles ❤❤

They are mourning a loss of a family. 😢
Eagle pairs only have each other. Once the eaglets have fledged, they're gone and the parents will have nothing to do with them. That's only a few months after they've hatched. So no, they aren't mourning a family. Eagles aren't humans.
Why is that do u know? Do they not have long term memories to understand and know that the little eagle that flew from nest was there's? Just curious

I started watching Jan 25, 2024 when Jackie had laid an egg! It was amazing! I continued to watch and recently found a song titled "Look at the birds" by Project of Love; really shows us how much we need to relax and know our Creator takes care of everything! Blessings! Thank you everyone for all the dedication it has taken to supply all the details of J&S these last few months! ❤❤
Personally…… I think they know something we don't…… Meaning there's going to be a second clutch❤❤❤.... They have mated a few times in the last few days. They're cleaning house bringing sticks and Jackie is screeching over a fish. Those are all signs before she lays an egg.❤❤❤🤞🤞.... in this video… She's looking a little fluffy😂❤️

Yes, Jackie and Shadow had successful clutches in 2020 and 2022.

Such a nice surprise! Yes, we will be very grateful for every visit to the nest, now that they have let go of the eggs and will be roosting elsewhere mainly and off soaring the skies.

Boy, that Jackie is one LUCKY eagle! Not only is she not caring for eaglets …she’s not even incubating eggs and Shadow is STILL treating her to fine fish at the nest!!! 💓🥹🪹💫

Jackie ate the remnants of at least two eggs.
I don't find it as sad as some people here seem to feel. I am a nearly lifelong ethical vegetarian, so it isn't like I don't love animals. I believe animals, especially mammals and some birds (like ravens and some parrots) are intelligent and have very complex emotions. Even if they only had basic emotions, I still wouldn't eat them. But I don't believe Jackie and Shadow have feelings of mourning for unhatched eggs. I am not even sure they know or understand the implications of the inviable eggs.
I've watched many eagle nests and eagles just don't demonstrate strong emotions toward their offspring. I've seen them eat their offspring, starve them, and allow them to be "bonked" and killed by their siblings. Once the eaglets can feed themselves, the eagle parents want nothing to do with their offspring and will chase them away. Studies show eagle parents either don't recognize their offspring once they leave the nest, or they don't care that they are their offspring. They show no interest in them and treat them as rivals. So I'm not devastated for this couple. They are young and have many years of reproducing left. They would be alone (with only each other) whether they had eaglets or not. That's how eagles live. I think they're fine and not at all depressed. I hope people won't be so sad and will understand that these eagles aren't mourning children. The eggs never even hatched. They seem happy and will return next year most likely.

Hey there! I’m an ethical vegan. I was vegetarian for many years before becoming vegan. It’s always nice to hear from someone on the same path!
I have learned recently that a new approach to non human animal study is developing. I’m not a scientist so I can only attempt to explain it lay terms but basically it is based on the recognition that testing methods of non human animal emotions was developed from the same measurements of human behavior and not from the knowledge of different species themselves. Measurement should be taken from the perspective of a species. As is typical, we humans tend to consider ourselves the standard. We are only beginning to understand the capacity of emotions residing in our non humans kin.
I will add: I love what Frans de Waal said, (also coining the term) that anthropodenial-discounting the complexity of other animals-is far more dangerous than anthropomorphism. ☮️❤🌱
