- Smash and grab robberies continue to be an epidemic across the country. Thieves smash into people’s car windows and will take everything inside. To put smash and grab thieves to the test, Inside Edition left a $300 speaker and a high-end purse inside a vehicle in Portland, Oregon. It didn’t take long for two people to break into the car and take the high-valued items before strolling away from the scene.

Well in the cities where this sort of crime is far too common (I believe it's up like 3,000% in the past 3 years) they voted in policies to not go after criminals for petty theft etc and to defund the police. Seattle/Portland/San Francisco/LA

What happened to the accomplice, was he arrested? Was he questioned by police about his friends whereabouts? Did you, Inside Edition, do anything to help get some of these guys off the street since you set it up and have it on camera? Did you even call the police at all? We know it's happening but what is anyone doing about it, that would be something more worthy of reporting.

We used to have bad problems with thrives in our town. My brothers friend taped razors under his door handles and other handles for the compartments in his pickup. One night he woke up to screaming. And found a bunch of blood in and on his truck with a good trip leading down the alley

Trick here is to not leave anything in the car or truck that they can see, even thou it's not valuable to you, its everything to them even if it sells for a dollar and you have to lay out money for your repairs

If our politicians cared the least bit they would've already taken steps to prevent this. Simple solutions such as: making window punches illegal to purchase and possess unless authorized for specific professions/personnel. Make the act of vandalism/burglary to vehicles(or just in general) a felony with a 10 year minimum prison sentence.
That won't solve anything. They'll just release the murderers due to prison overpopulation.

My advice: quit leaving valuable items in full view on your dashboard, seat, floorboard, etc. Thieves will even break into your glove compartment, the utility container on the front seat,, and even tear up your seats to get to the goodies they assume as theirs for the taking. Why make it easy for them when you walk to your car in the mall parking lot, loaded with packages? They might even follow you home and corner you in your driveway. I've known about 2 couples that this happened to in Ga. They were both murdered too
