He paid about a million dollars for the creation of this MV. The directors who filmed the MV usually don't make music videos but film for movies! The director there praised him for being one of the few artists that gives you a feeling that you really create together with them.
Interestingly, he used word, "I am Lotus," which in Chinese sounds very similar to a ''LIT'' , and the word Lotus is an insult to which his antis is used, and he took it to sing in the opposite and powerful way, Savage!
for a year and more he has been trying to play various Chinese instruments, he uses it to create the songs in the TV show he participates in. he is really hard working and not afraid to try new things !!

This was filmed in the biggest film studio in the worldd and he spent 1.73 billion won or 1.4 Million USD. There are hundreds of people/extras here and Dexter Studio who made the special effect in this music video and they said that this is their first time to do effecst in an MV. they are the one who made special effects in Kungfu Yoga and parasite work also this. And there still i want to write and flex but just please look the CREDITS after the video. You will say ZhangYixing or Lay Zhang made and produce all of this.

This MV was based off of Yixings (Lays) favorite Chinese historical figure. A Chinese general named Xiang Yu, who fought in the battle of Gaixia. The background music you hear in the beginning is called “The Song Of Gaixia” which Xiang Yu composed for his wife Lady Yu (lays song Jade) who later took her own life. The MV is the portrayal of Xiang Yus entrapment by the Han soldiers while trying to rescue his wife Consort Yu.

In China, there is a slang "White Lotus," referring to those that play innocent, acting nicely in front of others to their own benefits, and talk shit and stab them behind their backs. Lay's antis often refer to him as a "white lotus." There's a Chinese metaphorical saying about Lotus being, 出淤泥而不染 (which he used in the lyric of this song), which means growing and living in the mud/silt but not being stained or dyed by it, referring to the world vs him as a person and his goal and dreams. He used the 2 different sides of the word lotus.

Thanks to fellow Pilbugs now I know the background to the concept of the MV, which is absolutely stunning. The symbolism of the Lotus as it refers to himself in respects to haters and how he uses it to his advantage. Literally taking lemons and making lemonade.
Also love how traditional it is, but at the same time has modern elements and the diversity of his background dancers. Which btw if you've seen any of his stage performances his dancers are usually very diverse from all backgrounds. So it's nice to see him add that to the MV

The song, LIT, was initially created in January 2019, during an EDM song-composition contest that Lay and Anti-General (the co-producer of this song) participated in. The song is a mix of Dark Trap + MPOP. LIT music video was filmed in mid-December 2019. The MV director also said preparations for the MV filming started in June 2019. The MV production budget of over USD 1.4 Million was funded by Lay and his own studio.
LIT song is about Xiang Yu, an army general and a prominent warlord in China's history. His life story had also been spread over the years via China's traditional arts, including a popular Peking Opera play.
In part 1 of the LIT album that Lay released, the first 6 songs were all related to the stories of Xiang Yu, his Consort - Yu Ji, his battles and life stories
