Even next to Wooten you did yourself v proud...i would turn to jelly if i had the chance to jam with Wooten himself...Thanks for the music and playing :)
Federico was very excited and happy to be playing with Victor, and totally showed that he deserves to stand alongside the Master Wooten! Nice playing and feel as always! Vai Fede che sei il migliore, fregatene di quelli che parlano solo per fare i fighi ma in realtà fanno la figura dei cretini ;) Keep on grooving che quando passi in zona devo venire a vederti!
I've watched this clip a bunch of times because it's one that I like to jam with on the drums. And yes, sometimes I notice who seems to be 'feeling it' at different times, and which verses maybe don't quite take off and soar. But I keep coming back to it, because there's so much beautiful music in it. These are two supremely musical bass players meeting in a crowded public place and having an amazing conversation via their instruments. Rehearsed shows and produced recordings are great too, but THANK YOU, Federico for letting us also see and hear this more spontaneous stuff via RUclips. Please never stop posting!

I love how when Federico starts playing Isn't She Lovely, Victor looks at his bass like a person just started talking to him and he's very interested in hearing what they have to say
Victor always said that the meaning of the bassist is to make the other musician sounds better. They were both clearly having fun enjoying the moment. A legenda as Victor does not need to show off, he wanted Federico play the way he likes. It was a beautiful jam, that's all! (music is not a competition)
I really enjoy that I can feel Federico's excitement and nervousness in his playing... That's a musician, what's on the inside comes through the instrument. There's no doubt that he as enamored with Wooten as we all are. What great moment for us all to enjoy 👏👏
All these people blinded by only what they know. Malaman isn't playing any different here than I've seen him in any of his other solo stuff, this is his style. There was no pushing, no rushing and no competition, malaman uses lots of notes for expression, that's not a good or a bad thing. Same with Wooten, to be truly honest I barely see Wooten pulling any face but that one. He's been around, been to many conventions and sometimes you just have to go with your resting face. These two played as they would play any where else,, the sound was there and if you look to enjoy it you will
I love how hard Malaman is fanboying, and not trying to hide it one bit! Age or talent just goes out the window whenever you get to meet a legend, doesn't matter who you are!
People saying he overplayed but Victor loved it. One of wootens biggest things is that he likes when people play a song and make it their own and that is exactly what Federico was doing here. Great video
Can you imagine sipping a latte, walking through the venue, you turn the corner and oh, hey, it's bass legend Victor Wooten! Ok I can chill here for a spell.

I know I'm about 7 years late to the party, but that was great. Musical and exciting. Well done Frederico you definitely deserved to be playing alongside Wooten.
It's so weird how Victor can use the "wrong" notes, and make something sound so dissonant one second, but pull it all together, and make you forget it was ever "wrong" to begin with.
That is because he knows, that if he hits a wrong note, he can fix it by using one note higher, or note lower of that note, and make sound right, and make it sound better.
very great playing from booth virtuoso's.. Federico was very excited and yes tried very hard to stay with Victor and did a great job.. Victor was surprised at how great Fredrico was but in the end their mutual love of music made for a great jam over a great tune.. Bravo to booth our fine players!
Seconded. They were definitely on different wavelengths in terms of playing together and how to actually do the duet, but ultimately I don't think either walked away unhappy or ungrooved.
So much do I love his constant looking over at Vic like "but what about THIS!?" He's really trying to talk to Vic with his playing. Like have an actual conversation. Love it
it's lovely to see how federico is looking at victor's face all the time, like looking for recognition or appreciation or an approval, but victor is continuing playing like that is what to be expected from federico :) that is the best recognition there is
My favorite part is how, at the very beginning, Vic looks to see what key the jam is gonna be in, and has it figured out in like 2 bars. Crazy how some people are that good at recognizing keys and such.
1:22 omg federico, your improv was amazing, its like i'm listening a piano with bass tone, and with the bass line of wooten with that tone, bro... is the perfection.

No doubt this "classic moment" will live forever! Amazing how, at one point, y'all brought it back from a serious stretch into the abyss. Great stuff. Thanks. Jeff. BC, Canada.
Victor did a very nice job of staying out of the way of Frederico's solo and just providing a simple solid bed for the soloist. Frederico, although a very fine player indeed, was too busy and stepping all over Victor's solo. Victor handled it with a smile and forged through it like the true professional he is.
Federicos body language was just as intrusive as his playing. Leaning in and staring at Vic the whole time while he was playing. You could feel Vics uncomfortableness. Fed is still a great player but that was straight up annoying.
This is a great video! Many people mention that Victor is a bit uncomfortable with the situation... But we can understand why Malaman overplayed a bit... trying to do his best, being nervous playing with a legend! It's a bit awkward to see him staring at Victor the whole song :)
Sylvain Bussières I think this post puts it the best. First time I watched the video, I thought "this guy is playing too long and the feeling is getting stale between them" but he freshened it up, and you could tell the enthusiasm coming from him. victor wooten picked up on it and it turned out righteous --- and Fed even asked for more interaction when he was like "nah u take it, take it" at the last reprise with solos

And anyone who has ever played live for an audience or in a jam session, realizes that it's not a perfect studio recording. Nor should it be. All I hear is mutual respect for the other player, and some healthy competition. My only regret is that I was not there to listen to it in person.
Lovely! The Big Bear (Federico) showing BIG RESPECT at the very end, as for saying: "I love the way you play Mr Wooten, and you inspire me for playing and study more and harder. every day that passes trough!" Lovely!

fantastic bass players just jamming. And anyone who has ever played
live for an audience or in a jam session, realizes that it's not a
perfect studio recording. Nor should it be. All I hear is mutual
respect for the other player, and some healthy competition. My only
regret is that I was not there to listen to it in person.
Federico Malaman is a million times greater than a bunch of armchair bass players and their petty RUclips comments! ♥️🙇🏻♂️
Thanks Leo :-)
Two legends on one video, amazing.
4:47 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! great musicians!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is what happens when two legends play at the same place... Lots of pure grooves and music! Incredible!

Lovely! The Big Bear (Federico) showing BIG RESPECT at the very end, as for saying: "I love the way you play Mr Wooten, and you inspire me for playing and study more and harder. every day that passes trough!" Lovely!

overplayed my ass. dude you are the definition of a ridiculous bassist. dont let anyone tell you otherwise. you are so tight and clean. you are one of my new favorite bassists for sure!
Nothing is bigger than a bass man legend !! Malaman could play all notes in the world for meassure! ity´s not about how many notes, it´s about heart and felling and history!
