Corellia is one of the elements that I think Disney Star Wars does better than Legends. In legends, quite big oarts of the planet were still really nice, including farms, villages, forests etc. It makes more sense that the almost inherently contrarian Corellians would wind up in decline.
I disagree: I prefer the image of Corellians as pirate nobles and that the planet was well-engineered and environmentally sound, more like the Netherlands than a ruined industrial center. It makes more sense as a core world.
I mean, there are five planets in their star system, it’s not like it can’t have both, and given how individualistic and independent Correlians are, it should have a lot of diversity on one planet, let alone all five.
It could be that the ease of modification that was baked into Correllian freighters was a way for the Correllian manufacturers to supplement their income for when the demand for their ships bottomed out in the boom and bust cycles.
Anyone else want a show based on the origins of the galaxy with the Rakata and the jedd'ai and the origins of planets like couruscant chandrilla and correllia
Corellian ships have been servicing the galaxy for thousands of years, both in civilian and military capacities. Arguably, this could be considered the most important role of facilitating a galactic civilisation; as they were also responsible for reverse engineering and developing the hyperdrive(the Holonet is also the other important factor in this regard). So what would Corellia's title/nom de guerre be? Forge, shipyards, arteries, transport hub, synapse, roads, highway, locomotive force? I just put a little thought into this and I think "The Synapse of the galaxy" has a nice ring to it. The synapse is the space that facilitates communication, could be a decent analogy for Corellia being the entity that allows goods, services and people to traverse the subspace lanes.
Off topic but can we get a breakdown of how PALPATINE actually became emperor? Not his rise in politics but how was he able to stand there and make such a drastic change like that. Like was he voted in? How could he self proclaim his title and not be challenged? How did palpatine actually become the emperor without contest? How was it even legal for him to completely change the identity of the republic from A REPUBLIC to AN EMPIRE. Legally he would have had to name an actual successor to Carry on in power also at least for face value. I have never seen anyone cover this topic and very suprised you haven’t.
Corellia seems to be a planet and culture that was supposed to have grown into a faction of its own, and being totally insular as far as politics and commerce was concerned, but the writers always figured someone else would write about it. And, as a result, this was what we got.
Resources. They will probably still need to trade for building and manufacturing materials and possibly even food. That can limit potential growth. All it takes is a trade war or a larger economic downturn and the planet will fall in a recession or neutral growth for an extended period of time.

Sleeper ships sent from the galactic core to the other regions would take thousands to tens of thousands of years to reach that area of space, even if traveling at a high fraction of lightspeed. Earth is about 26,000 light years from the galactic core, so even at half of lightspeed it would take us close to 50,000 years or more to reach that area. The Star Wars galaxy is about the same size. So would a lot of those ships still be floating along in empty space even by the time of the Galactic Empire? Probably, assuming they could function that long. Imagine finally reaching your destination world and finding it already full of people who have lived there for centuries? Could make for an interesting story concept.

I much prefer the legends version of Corellia, a planet of Golden beaches, Large but well managed cities, and agricultural regions. All kept pristine by the whole planet coming together to take all industry into a net-like orbital construction that surrounded the planet.
