    This was interesting! I’m glad it didn’t destroy your book lol. I think someone else commented possibly opening up the pages to get more targeted results on the folding which I think is a good idea. Being more aggressive with the cover. The material of the shirt likely has a lot to do with it. I’d go with 100% cotton making sure there’s not polyester or spandex. And if you’re going for that per page ironing method, a little bit of fabric to cover it would probably be more efficient than a t shirt. I’d probably go with something without any dyes too. I’d be interested in seeing more videos in this vein. For science!!

      These are some really fantastic ideas! I really appreciate the in-depths thoughts!! Yeah. I will probably try to do this or other DIY restoration projects to see what works well in the future. I’ll try to learn more so I can share more. 🙌🏻

    Parchment paper is better to use than the shirt. Also Parchment paper over a silverage board on the inside of the front cover. Also some humidity does help not much, then its best put under weight till it cools (ive done it it does work.

    Great video! I wonder if putting like a clean (new) cutting board or something similar, in-between the ironing board (a board bigger than the book I think might be best) and the book will help with being able to put a bit more even pressure. Maybe your heat setting and time is just right, just need to be able to press a bit harder. Just a thought, would be cool to see a follow up! Great content!!

      Yeah. I think the ironing board absorbed a lot of the downward pressure. That may help make that far more effective!! What good ideas!

    This has some possibility I wonder about putting weight down on it while it cools.

      Yeah! I think that is a really good idea. I bet that would really make a difference!!

    Could you open to those pages that were more folded and put those in the shirt to target them specifically?

      @NerdMorning  2 года назад +1

      Yeah!! Actually after filming I tinkered with doing just that and it worked pretty good.

    I think you could have better results using a flat surface to work on, and putting the book under weight after the iron.

    I bet you could’ve done even a little bit more aggressive and had the comic turn out fine still, you are smart using a shirt protectively. It’s similar to flattening watercolor paper after painting

    • @emilyspilman3535
      @emilyspilman3535 2 года назад +1

      I didn’t know you could use a similar method for that medium! I’ve always thought I was just using the wrong paper, do all watercolor paintings go wavy afterwards?

    • @jmillart
      @jmillart 2 года назад +2

      @@emilyspilman3535 you can, I just recommend using a shirt you don’t care about. Yes watercolor painting almost always will warp the paper. Heat and pressure can flatten it back out

    • @NerdMorning
      @NerdMorning  2 года назад +2

      Yeah. I was really nervous haha. If I try this again I will be more aggressive with it and hopefully that does more than this attempt did.

      Always learning. I love this sub conversation on watercolor. Yeah two things is there is ideal paper. But you can flatten it using some types of heat presses.
