I made a 15 degree triangle wedge covered in firm material. This supports the thumb and straightens it. This small degree wedge fits into the web space.
Next time try Superman style positioning prone, and have the patient hold a sandbag, with the thumb in an AP position, and the hand in a lateral position. Immobilize the hand and forearm with sandbags. Wrap a small 18 channel coil around using table straps. This places the thumb at isocenter and facilitates getting true planes and great fat sat images.
