  • The 38th Ryder Cup was held 1-4 October 2010 at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, Wales. It was the 17th time the Ryder Cup had been staged in Britain, but the first time in Wales. The tournament was played on the newly constructed Twenty Ten course, specifically designed for the event. The team captains were Colin Montgomerie for Europe and Corey Pavin for the United States. With the U.S. as the defending champion, Europe won by a score of 14½ to 13½ and regained the Cup, its sixth victory in the last eight competitions.

Corey Pavin, poor soul, met his "Peter-Principle" at the Ryder Cup. He really had no business captaining a Ryder Cup team and the results show why.

Jack Tattis his style was annoying for some players who liked Azinger’s 2008 style better so they were already mildly annoyed, and then the waterproofs his wife made by hand turned out not to be waterproof and the team was drenched in a massive rainstorm on the first day. They ended up buying a bunch of ryder cup jackets from the merchandise shop and wearing those for the rest of the week. The uniforms themselves were also hand stitched and said to be uncomfortable, coming emblazoned with this complicated shield pattern which I guess pavin’s wife also created. It was just too much, and not in a good “golf history” way like Ben Crenshaw’s ugly picture shirts that inspired a comeback for the ages, it was over the top in an annoying way that interferes with the players comforts and desires at every level, from the lack of a “pod system” to the waterproofs that weren’t waterproof at all. The only reason the matches were close was because after the rain delay they changed it from 5 sessions to 4, and the one they got rid of was a team session which favors Europe. Europe was in control and America made a nice comeback in the singles as they usually do

USA had an excellent start on the evidence of this video. The standard of play from both teams is outstanding. It went down to the last match. I don't see how you can blame Pavin.

@@TheLocalLt they didn't get rid of any team matches, there were still 16 team matches.

@@MJSchaefer16 but they split up the four ball matches (America’s strength) from one would-be session and tacked them onto the end of two foursomes sessions. So not only did the teams not have the luxury of sitting players but the Americans basically got robbed of a session in their chosen format. Couldn’t send out their best players 5 times.
