My school has this program where we get to build relationships with wolf dogs at a sanctuary in California called Wolf Connections. I will never forget the 8 weeks I spent there

Please, get an Alaskan Malamute if you want a dog with "wolfish" looks but that's 100% domesticated dog. Best dog I've ever had was my rescue malamute.

I'd like to say the dog that taught me to love and let go was an Alaskan Malamute named Meadow. She was so sweet~ Pretty girl got an infection she sadly never recovered from, but she stayed with me for most of my life and I'll always be grateful for her~

I know of a project/shelter that uses Wolfdogs to assist in psychological rehabilitation of post-war PTSD and crippled veterans. I don't know if it's the same shelter, but it's nice to know that there are places like this for them.

Sorry for my late reply - I had to dig in my archives to search the information you requested! Well, the name of the program is "Warriors and Wolves", of the Lockwood Animal Rescue Center located in Lockwood Valley, California. They bind together wolfdogs with US army veterans returning from deployments in warzones, to help them cope with their return to US civil society.

If only humans would think more before they start breeding "special" breeds of animals! I consider wolves the symbols of freedom, faithfullness? Family! But I would never consign them to death! Having Cree, Mohawk, Canadian French blood they are my totem, my spirit guide admired from afar!

Beautiful animals, but this type of cross breeding should not be allowed in my opinion.
Mikey Mike I agree, and I am sure the sanctuary does also but until laws are passed and people can't buy, breeders will try to make money. Continue to make your feeling know like today. The sanctuary is needed until then because these animals are discarded when they become inconvenient. Proper sanctuaries do not breed but allow animals to live out their normal lifespan in dignity.

Mikey Mike wolf dogs are wonderful for mountain rescue, service jobs are the only things they should be bred for.
Runts and retired wolf dogs can be given to people for non service jobs.

When i was like 6 wr had one named wolf and she was fully white with the cutest eyes my clearest memorie of her was me standing on the other side of her and her being taller then me, when i turned 7-8 she sadly passed away from old age they had her long before me, i was heartbroken i loved her so much, i still look at her gave and remember her being so nice and loving she never once hurt my family or friends. And now i have 4 ankle bitters
I actually adopted a wolf dog which got quite attached to me (he was a little puppy who had been trapped underneath snow) and from that day till now he always comes up to me, barks at me, licks me and sleeps with me! That's the most I have ever asked for
most of the comments are I want / need one !!! that's what got them in a sanctuary instead of their habitat in the 1st please ,please stick to a rescued dog or cat that'll be better for everyone
Or deal with the consequences of owning a wolfdog. Even if it tore your house up or harms you.

zainab Muhammed People like you can’t tell people what to do unless there’s a huge reason and the reason why all animals from god attack because how evil humans are and hurt and kill them even for no reason even as a sport and fun. It’s evil.
Jade Zaborowski wolfdogs are alot different from the both of those, i have one myself and he's not aggressive however he's very very strong. Stronger than a wolf or a dog, trust me to own these guys you need proper training.
They are beautiful, but it is so sad that humans always want something new or original and make this sort of siruation exist. We shouldn't breed wolfdog. I'm thankful that thos sanctuary exist, but really, I wish that people stop desiring "exotic" pets.
CistudeSuisse some times adopting "exotic" animals such as fur farm rescues, circus rescues and such animals that can never be released back into the wild is good but to breed them purposefully for that and be ignorant to their needs and think they're just a normal pet is seriously a huge problem and I hope people stop it
I think those kind of people just want to be “cool” but they’re (most of the time) “cruel”
Buying exotic pets is something only rich people do so I wouldn't worry your simple self.

I never will get from a breeder but It can happen on accident too. Not all Breeders are cruel. My family breeds goats, but they have an anchor (dunno how to spell the other version cause I’m an idiot and failing lit comp) they have all the time they need to breed, and chose their mates (I spelled lit wrong so that’s why it’s edited)

I had a pet wolfdog (Half german shepherd/half wolf) She was an amazing pet. We always let her in our house she was friends with all our cats and small dogs.
Love wolfs and dogs so it’s best of both worlds.
The last one, when it smiled made my day
My friend got to go here (we live in Alberta) and I was so jealous of her!! I want to go so bad, she said it was so cool being able to interact with them. Definitely on my bucket list to go! I might only be 14, but I’ll get there someday, lol.
We used to have a husky wolf named Thunder--My dad found him on the streets as a pup, and when I was born--he saw me like his littermate. Sadly, he, passed away when we were coming back from a vacation and I cried for an hour.. I miss Thunder, but he helped me find someone just like him.

I was blessed to have two wolves. Got them as cubs. Sonja and Brutus. Brutus passed away at 10 years old. Sister Sonja was 19. Some " dogs are pets or companions ( there is a difference) Sonja and Brutus were my kids.
Some things in life pass from memory. Never Sonja and Brutus.

I actually had a two wolf dogs growing up (not at at same time) and when I moved out, I got three of my own. I can't imagine a life without a wolf dog in it, I just love them so much. Yes, they have more than plenty of space to run around as they please
