- The biggest global event of August 2024 has perhaps been the Bangladesh coup leading to the ouster of the longest serving sovereign Sheikh Hasina. While the Pakistan, U.S. and China plans to oust the Hasina regime may have worked out, but peace is yet to be restored in the country where religious minorities are being targeted by unruly protesters.
The Bangladeshi police and army seem to have taken a backseat and the new interim government under Muhammad Yunus seems to be failing to control the mob. With Bangladeshi Hindus being attacked with the aim of expulsion, is it time for India to react?

Typical BS, I am from Bangladesh and lived there for many years, to say Jamat was involved is ludicrous. My whole family supported awami league and are still very much a staunch supporters, however the rampant corruption by her MP’s is what bought her down.

I feel pity for General Bakhshi. How could he become a General in Indian Army having such a poor knowledge about his neighboring country Bangladesh internal politics. He has only heard the narrative of Hasina the greatest liar and believed that. I have realised that even in 1974 when I went to Britain for my higher studies and I came across a number of students of Bangladesh who were all anti-Indian even at that time. At least Pakistani students were at that time were formally friendly but that was not the case for Bangladeshis.

I came across a number of students of Bangladesh when I went to Britain for higher studies. They are all anti-Indian because they are Muslims. I came across Wahiduddin Mahmud at that time. He was anti-Indian as well. That was in 1974. Thus, the attitude of the people of Bangladesh has nothing to do with the foreign policy of India. It is due to your religion. I think, Indira Gandhi made a terrible mistake in 1972 by removing the Indian Army from Bangladesh. The US Army is still there in both Germany and Japan to make sure that no anti-American political party can come to power. India should have done that too.
