The Caracal and Steyr pistols have always been attractive to me and I definitely recommend them IF the price is right OR it's a fun gun (extra). I'm just a hardcore Walther man for 9mm. BUT I'm so glad Caracal got their sh!t together and released

I dig this setup especially with short, "single" focal plane sights and ergonomic and forgiving grip in a gun that likes hot ammo shot through low bore axis barrel ... what I wished though more aggressive grip, shorter and bit harder trigger
I have a very short-barreled (1-5/8") S&W top-break revolver and the sights are tiny. To my surprise I discovered that despite the short barrel and double-action-only trigger I could shoot it shockingly accurately, like 4" groups at over 20 yards. OK, the DA trigger was super-smooth and relatively light but still... I eventually determined that the sights were so close together they were in a single focal plane and the front sight entirely filled the vestigial rear sight. These factors all seemed to combine to produce the improbable accuracy. This led me to make a sight similar to the Caracal's that I am experimenting with. Like this gun the sight is very fast and intuitive. I'll be testing it's accuracy more as time goes on. As for the Caracal I am very intrigued; it has a lot of interesting things going on that tend to be overshadowed by the novel sight.
As usual, a completely honest and humble review. I wonder, if you can purchase another slide with the conventional sights from Caracal? This would facilitate a great way to compare the two- or... it's a good excuse to buy another complete Caracal in a different color! It's a good looking gun, but you have influenced me in my recent two gun Grand Power purchase. I still seek out fully ambi pistols, as I'm mainly a lefty shooter. Last night, I put each one of my favorite EDC guns in my hand, to revisit the feel and ergonomics. So far, my PDP compact, and my Canik METE SF, are just the best. I can operate all the controls on both with no issues at all. I need to shoot the Grand Powers some more. I'd love to try a Caracal, just to see how it shoots. I hope there will be more Bubits action handguns available soon.
Thank you for the excellent video! Duty pistols certainly do have a different trigger compared to those that we might prefer for other types of shooting. The same could certainly be said for the Taurus TS9 of course. A few years ago Bubits told me he has a drop in trigger for the BB6 that is lighter and crisper, with a shorter and more tactile reset. He was going to put one in my pistol when he visited Florida but travel plans got shut down by COVID. I was going to visit Austria that same year, but COVID shut down my vacation plans. I still hope that one day I will get that trigger.
That gun just seems so smooth and just flows looking at it. The sighting systems seems to make some sense to me especially as our eyes age. Would be nice if it had a little bit better trigger.
My curiosity is peaked as to how that quick sight setup would do co-witnessing with an optic as it would be out in front of the optic entirely versus surrounding it. If you could dial in the front sight to where it were more accurate at distance I think that it would be an ideal setup for an optic without having to use suppressor height sights. Just a thought and opinions may vary.
How are you going to adjust the sights when they are staked? Can you defeat the staking with some kind of press, (my sight pusher has a hard enough time with sights affixed in the standard manner)?
3:21 thats bc the follower is literally being wedged against the protrusions from the body. Normally when you bottom out, its bc the spring is at 97% compression, it has more give than trying to compress a piece of polymer.
CZ 2075 RAMI has a similar type of front sight....far from ideal for me as drifting it means you need to punch it against the slide... and that hurts.... luckily RAMI also has driftable rear sight but here it will be a bit less comfy I guess...
I'm a Rural water system operator... And I use to buy the cheapest regular spray paint... Until I accidentally grabbed a can of my ground marking paint 'white' for locates... And WOW it covers way faster and easier and I use way less paint and time painting! Should give it a try!
Bubits designs good stuff. Hopefully you can try one with other sights too.
EDIT: The word that escaped you was staking. What is your target cam setup? Do you zoom on an individual target afterwards?

Ive been waiting on the Caracal since the first round tried to come out then they disappeared!
Maybe the traditionally sighted model….I would stay away from the short-sighted version as I don’t know how I would adjust the sight adequately. I might chance it if I could replace the short sights with a regular sight if I didn’t like it. Perhaps if there is one at a local rental range I can give it a test drive. There are so many good, inexpensive choices out right now.
Any magazine compatibility with any of the other pistols?

Also, IMO you should shoot one round in mag one handed, or left handed, to see if your thumb is indeed bumping the release - can you let us know if that's what it was?

Fixed pinned sights and short sight radius looks like it only hindered the platform. I saw some increase in follow up shots for what that's worth.
I want to spend more time with this sight system and get better with it. They offer a model with conventional sights but I wanted to try something different.
So which pistol shoots more like the BBtech BB6? Taurus TS9 or Caracal EF? I always wanted to get both, but how many 9mm striker fired tools should a guy keep ? I am a hammer fan😊
The TS9 has the Bubits-improved Browning action, but this holds more like a BB6.

Front sight probably does need adjusting. Many guns come from the factory that are not accurate.
Grip to small for you radius wise causing pull to left?
That could be, and is an error I often make.

They didn't do themselves any favors sending a unit with the sights misaligned. I'm wondering how sales were lost because of that.
Better a real sample than a ringer perfected for media! I've been burned that way too; reviewed a gun and had a great experience only to hear from others that they had problems.
If you go far enough left you get your guns back.
A can of paint at the local Walmart just cost a dollar! It would not hurt to paint your metal targets before you start your shooting. Or you are also waiting for your subscribers to pay for it?

This gun makes no sense.
It is not necessary to give up sight radius to get a quick sight picture.
There are better options for getting a quick sight picture.

Wrong Goober....with this setup BOTH front and rear sights are in sharp focus at the same time.....cant do that with conventional sights....something these gun testers fail to mention.
Multiple slide lock issues and fixed sight considerably off. I'm out.
I recall this being all the rage a couple years ago, by now it should have decent sights and be optics ready. But alas they stuck with their strange sights and did not update it for Optics. Buy one now as an investment because if they don't change they will go bankrupt and you will have a rare handgun..

Why 99% of fixed sights are crappy??? I saw only one perfect fixed sight and the gun was a simple taurus model 80 made in the 70's.
I'm guessing it has more to do with you than the sights.
@@JD-tn5lz I fired that model 80 in 1990 or 1991. No, after machining the resulting product is not as designed, a few thousands here, a few thousands there and the line of sight goes to X while the bullet goes to Y. I worked on a gun range in 1990 and I saw a SIG P2220 firing three feet above at 15 meters; and we were three shooters trying to guess where the bullets were going. Became obvious why that SIG ended up being sold in Paraguay. Also a three inch Taurus 80 hitting one foot above and about six inches to the right (that gun was the first gun from a lawyer, he bought the chepest gun available).
That's why adjustable sights are more expensive.
I have a PT92, it seems to me that it hits a little to the right but I am not very experinced with guns over 38 SPL (most brazilians are not, 9 Luger became legal for civilians just in 2019 - and became ilegal again in 2023).
@@garetz2011it seems that you put much effort into it, for which I applaud you. I suggest that if you actually want to check to see if it's the sights or any one or a combination of many other factors, I suggest you use a Ransom Rest for testing of sights.
It removes most of the human variable. Even the very best of shooters deal with the hard luck science of physiology.

Precision test at 7 yds and freehand with of course the excuses for flyers caused by by the shooter? Seriously? No rest available? Any conclusions from the 7 yds precision onto greater distances, let's say 21 or 42 yds? I guess there aren't any that could be seriously stated. So what's the point then at 7 yds with so many different brands? I consider it really useless. I don't know any modern carry pistol not being able printing those groups at 7yds...
Why not 20yds and a rest to get some reliable statements about the precision?

I explain the process before each segment and write it out in each article. Some people just can't be helped. What worries me though is an attention span and comprehension level that low is also considering a firearm.
Final thoughts… I hate this gun! Just watching was so frustrating! Not because the format because I love what’s for dinner and the spinner and the little square. I found myself leaning to the right almost the entire clip🤣😂😬!
I just dont see these selling well. Just because. There's so many great firearms out there and something like this is pretty low on the want list
