Hunter X Hunter is a great anime, starts all cute and happy and man, it goes in a dark rabbit hole the further you get in. There is 2 versions of the anime, the original from 1999 and the 2011, the original went to episode 90, on the 2011 they compacted in the original one in around 60-70 and then new archs/seasons that had no manga for a total of 148 episodes on the 2011. In this universe, without any spoiler, Hunter is an association that has ties with almost all countries, it gives almost infinite money and you can get away with almost anything, including crime, the moment you become one. A hunter can do anything, from being a cook to lead explorations of uncharted lands to be a bounty hunter or a doctor. The author unfortunately had a bad health problem the past 10 years or so and stopped the manga because of it, but recently he delivered the next part of it and the studios already announced they will do the anime of the new part, but did not say if they will do just a continuation of the 2011 one or they will do another resume of the entire thing.

HxH is a total masterpiece! Each season only gets better and this season with the monsters you saw is one of the best arcs ever concepted by humanity, and I'm not even exaggerating. HxH is an anomaly in the world of anime, in a great way I mean, it's singular and genius. Every time a new chapter of HxH is released, it gets Top 1, it's this good.

Brother, hunterxhunter is an emotional rollercoaster, and a roller coaster quality wise. The first season is just the usual anime stuff, the second season transcends into new horizons of entertainment, the third season was not that great yet the ending was quite amazing, the fourth season starts slow yet turns into a masterpiece, and the fifth season is exemplary, except for the b plot which takes more time than you wished it would. The fourth season, that arc, i remember it as the greatest arc I've witnessed in the history of entertainment. And this is coming from someone who's up to date on aot and has watched a ton of top rated shows. At it's peak, there's almost nothing to dethrone hunterxhunter. The only problem is that the quality varies, like i said. Just that arc itself might be the reason this show is very highly rated. The peaks of this show are enough, and it's not finished yet. It's been on the longest hiatus I've known. Although i heard a new season might drop next year. Also, this is a remake of the 1990s version of hunterxhunter, hence the old school art style. Yeah, also, this was the best remake I've witnessed. A remake so good most people didn't know the original. Also, the song gets stuck in your head. The ending is even more amazing. They needed only one op xD, this anime starts innocent and slow ( character introduction and world building) but it gets dark and awesome, the character development in this one is out of this world, definitely a must watch. I binge watch this in 1 week I was obsessed.

It might seem kinda childish at first but this gets DARK. You just have to give the story a chance to world build.

Just a fair warning: HxH Fanbois are always loud. There is a fair share of ppl who really dont like this series (me included) and find it waaaay too overhyped. It really is a drag to get into the parts that fans say is the "dark" and "interesting" part, just to see it's again a really boring and uninspired arc. The Openings are damn cool tho.
