    This is basically a live action version of the animated movie we got in 2012, Justice League: Doom.... With the exception of a few character changes, the basic premise is EXACTLY as what happened in that movie. So we technically did get this movie 😅

    DC had a head start from the beginning. But WB just can't stop stepping on its own toes. Based on all the cancelled projects, they're just too reactionary and having tunnel-vision on only the profits from the next movie. The writers kept coming up with innovative ideas (JL:Mortal , Superman Lives) and a balance between comic book and live action (Batman Returns). But the executives kept cancelling projects based on audience feedback (Batman Continues) and nervousness (Ben Afflek's Batman). I think they have learned from their mistakes (Batgirl), and I have high hopes for James Gunn's DCU.

    I think it needs to be pointed out that the test suits are never the same costumes you see you in a movie. Go look at the test suits that Henry Cavill first put on or even the test suits for Christian Bale. It’s to get an idea of how the actor would look is that character for the studio and really nothing else.

    • @maximiliankemnitz1869
      @maximiliankemnitz1869 Год назад +6

      that's true, they often use the suits from previous/classic movie versions of the characters for the test screenings. However, in the case of jl mortal, they had already basically wrapped pre-production and were ready for filming before the whole project got scrapped. So basically, the suits from the leaks were the exact suits we would've seen in the film.

    Wow! That was a lot to unpack. That movie sounds like it would have been pretty crazy and all over the place. Hard to tell how well it would have gone over. It would have been a real shame if it would have bombed and possibly tanked the MCU as an unintended side effect. Plus, in hindsight, Armie Hammer probably wasn't an ideal choice to play the new Batman, LOL. What they should have done was wait until the Nolan Batman trilogy was over, and then brought back Bale and Routh to reprise their roles as Batman and Superman, then they could have added the other characters around them. That would have made it a little more like the MCU, as audiences would have had already established and recognizable versions of the two biggest characters identify with. Much like the Avengers with the big three, Iron Man, Cap and Thor. I think that would have been pretty cool and probably hugely successful. Especially if they had featured Bale's Batman in a version of the Justice League. I think people would have been really curious to see what that would be like. Plus that movie could have also served as a sort of Wonder Woman origin film as well to give her a big introduction. The beginning could have had her leaving Paradise Island to go to the world of man because of some big looming threat that would have led the to formation of the JL.

  • @RomaroBrandon

    I think the idea to start with a Justice League movie then doing a bunch of solo films isn't a bad one so long as the solo films aren't prequels. Furthermor the plot would be better for a second or third Justice League film, especially if Barry Allen dies and the Justice League forgive Batman.

      I agree I think it's a great idea if the story is done right. And tbh George Miller's story was genius. Show the personality of all the heroes. Moments where they are sitting down and talking rather then doing superhero things right out the gate. Really bring them together in a down the earth way. The script wasn't perfect but Alot of the scripts ideas was used in the dceu. The superman fight with zod was basically wonder woman vs Superman. The way Maxwell Lord acts in the script is very lex luthor in bvs like. The flash in this script and the suit reminded me of the show years later. George was def on to something. And the team up in the city reminded me of the avengers in new York. When they fought the omac droids. The way it was wrote that's how I envisioned it. And if it worked for the avengers. 5 years later after this film was canned. I think the masses would have had a similar reaction to it 2007. And I get the panic for 2 Batmans. Cause it was never done before. Nobody knew the future so nobody wanted to take the risk til mortal.

    As an Australian where Megan Gale is well known it is a crime that she never got to play Wonder Woman. She has an excellent sense of humour and a vivaciousness absent from Gal Gadot. She dated a slightly nerdy Aussie Comedian for many years so I think she would have relished the geeky obsessiveness of Comic Cons and fandom. The Dark Knight trilogy is the best set of superhero movies ever made in my book, and Mad Max has been something very special to me ever since sneaking into the cinema to see the original when I was 10 in 1979. So having Fury Road, and having Nolan's movies as stand-alone is the preferred option by far to me.

      Idk, I think it works as a fake victory and part of his growth as a character. He was naive to let Talia in, that got Brother Eye destroyed and he learns something about trust by the end of the movie.
      It could easily impact his relationship with Selina (how would a burglar earn his trust - and his heart - after what Thalia did?), his relationship with Dick (handling Dick is all about trust, right? 🤭) and his work as a vigilante without Brother Eye.
      TBH, the more I think about it, the more I like the ideas they threw in. And the tech suit was... fine.

      I'd give Wonder Woman an actual arc around that trust theme (maybe learning how to trust SOME men?), since her lasso of truth played an important role in the script and she'd have an important fight scene with Superman, it would be cool and could enhance Batman's own arc.

    A few years ago I read George Miller's Justice League script and I didn't like it.
    The plot was too overloaded, we were given heroes with a vague past, which is hypothetically the same as in the comics, but without details, as well as their motives:
    - why did Batman decide to collect information on how to kill all the heroes, if they are all good here and have long proven themselves?
    - why does Aquaman not have one arm, and what connects him with Diana?
    - when and how did Hal Jordan die?
    - why does Max Lord take revenge on superheroes and not on the government that experimented on him (is this a hint about the Justice Society or something)?
    - why was Flash killed in the first film debut?
    Should I add to this Lord's strange plan to turn all people on earth into cyborgs through fast food?
    Well, the casting raises questions - if the actors chosen for the roles of Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Barry and Wally at least visually suffered in their images, then the rest is a complete miscast.

    George Miller is one of the greatest, and hearing the story of getting the actual guitar scene to work in Fury Road, shows he is dedicated to what he's invisioned. That said; its hard to say any of this woulda worked. MCU Rogers and Stark nailed what they had to nail. Rogers is pretty much Superman without the godly powers; he doesn't give up, he doesn't exchange lives, he doesn't see defeat and he's in love with one woman without being crippled by her. While most Superman's have been brooding. MCU Stark nailed something Army Hammer couldn't. Making the man out of the suit as interesting as the one in it; Bruce Wayne on film doesn't work. Keatons had the most personality but that was more Keaton than Wayne. Stark works so much better from a film perspective.

  • @NIDELLANEUM
    @NIDELLANEUM Год назад +4

    I still wonder just HOW different comic book movies would have been, had this been made. Not only The Avengers was not going to be seen as something "new" onscreen (and maybe the MCU might have "rushed" a bit just to catch up to Justice League Mortal), but having this movie come out next to The Dark Knight would have proven that you don't have to make superhero movies dark, gritty and "realistic", meaning that we could have seen the rise of brighter, more comic accurate movies much earlier.
    Plus, there was going to be the fact that a DC Universe was going to start the same year as the MCU, and the two would have shared the audience, which means that the MCU would have probably not become the huge powerhouse that it is now.

  • @dynaguy3

    This movie sounded incredible. The story reminded me of the Justice League Doom animated movie and Tower of Babel comic story. I love both of those and seeing a version of it in live action would've been incredible. This could've altered the course of DC films and really been something special. And I don't think its necessary to do solo movies before a team up like Justice League. As long as the characters are well defined, people will care for them. There's no need to do Cyclops, Wolverine, Jean Gray, Storm, and Beast solo movies before the X-Men. The only thing I didn't love from this movie was the Superman casting. He's just too short and doesn't really look right in the suit. The Flash storyline with Barry and Wally also sounded great

  • @jimmyboy131
    @jimmyboy131 Год назад +2

    Wow. This would have been a combination of a few solid comic book arcs that I'd love to see in live action. One of my favorites is the Superman story called "Sacrifice", where Max Lord takes control of Superman, and the Justice League all fail to stop him, except for Wonder Woman who then steps in to take care of business. She borrows Batman's kryptonite ring, and goes after Supes. That's when she and Supes get into mortal combat, he tries to throw her into the sun, she tries to beat the crap out of him while wearing the ring, and he punches her so hard she is knocked back to earth, leaving a massive impact crater. She, not Batman, is the one who ends up killing Max Lord, which alienates her from the Batman.
    Then there's the Justice League story arc called "Tower of Babel", wherein Batman compiles a secret dossier on each of the Justice Leaguers, and plans a "just in case" for each of them in case they get out of control. That's how they are all taken down by Talia when she steals that information.

That way Justice League: Mortal as the title would've been perfect cause The Justice League is "Gods Among Men", but they would've been made " Mortal" cause someone would've gotten ahold of Batman's plans, made them lethal, & damn near killed The League including Batman himself.
