Hi! Message to Erik: If Sarah has high cholesterol, tell her to take Niacin rather than Lipitor. Niacin is a vitamin supplement and can be found in the vitamin section of most stores. One thing doctors don't tell you about Lipitor (or its generic, atorvastatin) is that it breaks down muscle mass. I used to take atorvastatin and when I learned this last spring I switched. Now I feel SO much stronger it's ridiculous. I do have to take 6 500mg tablets a day but it's worth it. Talk to your doctor about it. I do get tired of these drugs that have dubious side effects, especially when there are homeopathic solutions that don't have those side-effects. And I really dislike that there's nothing in the literature -- or from the doctor -- about this. I learned it from my brother, who also has high cholesterol and is very athletic.
Hey Eric: I spent way too much time trying to figure out how to attach the bags to the belt. Any quick instruction to check if I do it right? I’ll try and send a pic. Other than that, though, I like the belt - hammer holster 😋.
It can also REALLY slow you down when they feel the need to micromanage; stopping you from working (often in the middle of a task) and preventing them from getting any actual work done, themselves. Jaime's, certainly gotten better about this over time. His long-winded explanations could do with a bit more shortening, though I'm guilty of this one as well. When you have the background knowledge, you just feel compelled to share it for some reason.
Jamie: Just a word of caution. Never use one (or two) walk boards on a mason's scaffolding. Placing all three walk boards will minimize lateral slipping on the steel frame when you step onto them. A five foot fall will easily break arms, legs, ribs etc. Go ahead, ask me how I know.
"Remind me of the tooth ferry"... that was a wholesome fatherly thought right there! Loved seeing a glimpse from your family life in the video. I remember tooth ferry sending my kids e-mails together with the money under their pillows when they were young too (but ours was a modern version of the tooth ferry with an e-mail. LOL).
I know it was just a joke to call the beautiful Client a WOULD be ax murderer the way she was looking there standing in the woods….And she didn’t mind at all….but COME ON!! She helped you guys lift that back wall!!!!! Sheesh!!! Anyways, I know it’s all in fun, I love everything you all do and I am glad we get to see a really admirable hands on home owner client that y’all embrace whole heartedly!!!! Thank You!!!
Perkins crew- just started college last month and have been very busy, in high school I used to watch RUclips for at least two hours every weekday and would watch many different channels…since I started in college I have only been watching Perkins…true testament to your channel.
Watching you guys build a modern house right as we’re building a modern house currently same style cool seeing how different we build with same results
Great stuff as always! Pro tip on the drill running in the toolbox though. Most any cordless tool usually has a trigger lock by setting the forward/reverse selector to the middle. It's a good habit to always lock the trigger when transporting/storing your tools as your tool could catch on fire if it's sitting there running in an enclosed space for a long time. That or remove the battery. Even though you moved it to stop the tool, you could hit a bump on the road or what have you and the drill could start running full tilt again. Cordless tools like sawzalls and jigsaws will have a dedicated trigger lock as well for this reason. Or say a circular saw will have a 2 stage trigger.
Can I say I LOVE OLD SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION WORKERS BANTER???!!! Cuz I absolutely DO!!!!!!!! 😘😘😘 I am OBVIOUSLY not a guy but I do appreciate guy banter on the job…and Jason really delivers in that aspect!!!!! Thank you Jayson, I already sub to your channel….but I also love this mix in between!!!!
Down here in Texas, we call that a "boom truck."Crane" is a term we reserve for RT, track, and tower models. They all do the same job just with vastly different load capacities.
You guys should really invest in an adjustable plate level by Stabila for plumbing those taller walls. The amount of times I have plumbed a wall with a 6' level and double checked it with a laser only to have the wall off over 1/2 of an inch makes them worth it to me.
Just back to the UK from a trip to the USA in my luggage I put a tube of “Big Stretch” no idea why, just felt the need to have one 😂 I’m an accountant in my day job lol
Ye should take note of handy tricks and incorporate them into the checklists for each stage of construction. We use checklists constantly in work. It's super handy. Especially for small companies, there's only four of us but we still need to play by the same rules as the big companies, checklists help keep us efficient and effective and reduces mistakes and maximises profits/wages for us.
I was just telling my husband wonder what their families think about the fame the crew is getting they are even popular in Canada , we love you guys bringing entertainment in our living rooms
I’m thinking of putting up a single pitched roof on my house but so many internet readings say it’s susceptible to high winds. Even an architect asked me if I’m sure about it. So I’m watching y’all 😀
Your complaints about all the angles reminded me about why we chose to go with inverted trusses on our place. It allows the back half of the home to have flat ceilings but the front half to have vaulted ceilings towards the focal point of the house. A good compromise.
Hello Perkins crew !!!! I love watching ur channel ❤ u guys have a great RUclips channel, I'd like u meet all of u 1 day 🎉keep up the awesome work guys 😊
❤ Jono ❤ Great to see the trusses up, the house is certainly moving on, but as we've seen before it is the insides which usually takes the time. Well done Jay for knowing the 4 steps, well impressed. You guys take care and see you soon 🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨
@perkinbuilderbrothers I am so happy for Jason and his progress. He's really becoming even more competent, working on himself and even a tiny bit more humbled. Keep up the progress my friend. Shout out from Marysville WA🎉
Another great video under the belt! 😁 I love seeing your pickup trucks having their beds loaded up with stuff. Contrary to what most of my countrymen do...
All content in the internet should be like PBB videos! As chill, as fun, as informative, as positive and as beautiful with the content itself! I mean house building is one of the most inspiring thing for me. It is great to get the idea of calm and cozy place for a person or family and build it😊 Thanks!
Another great video! And I just received my Perkins belt...It is awesome, best fitting belt I have ever owned. Well done on the redesign. Also the bonus pencil holder works with my Pica pencil...
Crane capacity is measured 5' from Pin center (the pivot point of the crane). I had a 320 ton crane that was reached out as far as it could with the jib on. I don't remember what it's limit was at that distance, but they were picking a 400 ton COoling tower that probably weighed 10,000 lbs. The boom had a nice arch in it.
I am a City & Guilds (with credits) time served Carpenter, Joiner, Machinist and Furniture maker and qualified for much more). I was lucky enough to have worked in Palaces and Government Buildings. You are draftspersons that is clear, but please clip on your safety lines as one slip my be your last (I also worked on spires and churches roof beams and always had to ensure I was clicked on) and I made it to retirement (the sports caused all the injuries and tears)!
The one inch fur strip might be necessary if the rise between the two points is too much. If you had to saw off a half inch on trusses like those, one of the walls you were sitting them on was likely too short. It's easier to trouble-shoot if you think of angles like that like right triangles (because that's what they are when there's 1-90° rise). In a right triangle, if 2 measurements are known, the third one is easy to find. So since the run is right (the distance from 1 wall to the other) and the diagonal is right (the predesigned engineered trusses), the problem has to be in the rise (the wall height).
Anyone have any recommendations for similar channels? I've been addicted to this one but once I'm caught up on this build then I've watched pretty much every video they posted lol.
This is so close to what we are looking to build about 2.5 hours away from your area. It makes me wish we could hire y'all. I don't have any idea how to know beforehand what kind of quality work someone does.
I have a question. Why do you guys not have a tool tank? You know like a three quarter ton or a one ton truck with a utility box linexed and a roll out bed. The build is coming along great and I love watching you guys build. Always great tips.
I was talking about the wood fillers you ripped on the wall sides of the trusses that would have given it extra strength like you would do on floor trusses along the ends to seal them off. I know you are using 7/16 Zip outside the ends but I was talking underside of that using sheathing instead of the fillers that may split. @@pavelpolechtchouk9829
Erik, when you get a chance please explain “fur out” these walls, etc. I think I probably know what you mean but if you could give a good explanation, I would appreciate it very much. New subscriber here.. 👌👍
Simply a thought...... In the future if engineered trusses are used, is it possible to use a template made out of angle iron to make true the walls unto trusses? Let me know Jaime your thoughts
When they built the stadiums in India for the Commonwealth games a few years ago they did a triple tandem crane lift and had a disaster. One flipped over completely, one bent the jib and the other fell over.
For interior walls I think I would bevel an extra top plate matched to the roof pitch on the table saw rather than cut every single stud at an angle but I'm lazy.
We had a few floor trusses on my personal house that were 1/2” short 🤷♂️. No idea why. Maybe 4 of them out of ~50. Had to do 2 layers of sheathing there 🤷♂️😂🤣🤣.

Arlo takes care of his " underlings" even when he isnt there with ideas..Arlos mind is for sure an asset. So much knowledge.
Its an advantage to have someone like Jaime always after the details...He is meticulous 👍👍👍

Watching the placing of trusses in place: epic
Eric, you sure seem to have a great family. Boys and wife all get a great edit, but I imagine you are truly blessed.
You guys should really invest in an adjustable plate level by Stabila for plumbing those taller walls. The amount of times I have plumbed a wall with a 6' level and double checked it with a laser only to have the wall off over 1/2 of an inch makes them worth it to me.
Have you seen Larry Hauns work around when you have a small level?
@@samt5663 No, but Larry was a legend. I will have to check it out.
Just back to the UK from a trip to the USA in my luggage I put a tube of “Big Stretch” no idea why, just felt the need to have one 😂 I’m an accountant in my day job lol
I did the same thing last week! Saw the Big Stretch and Lexel and just had to have them, with no purpose in mind ... scary!

I wish we could see more of the mistakes and hiccups. I'm also obsessed with hearing the real world convos of what to do and how to do it
Well your in luck because Jay has his own youtube channel called building Jays ways and he does a lot of behind the scenes stuff on there.
Recently discovered your channel, and I am very impressed with your knowledge and the way you explain procedures. Have binge several of your builds
A shaker sieve to size the gravel! You guys do the best builds!!

Y'all did a great job at putting up the trusses. It was spooky to watch but you made it work. I Love watching and thanks.
Thanks for watching
Here’s that ✋ you were waiting for Eric! No man left behind 0:21

energetic vid! Erik reaching new levels of editing ... not easy ... takes a ton of time away without distractions and focus. Great work Erik.
Holy crap at 1:30 that is one big long legged spider!
It's coming along great!
Hey guys love your work and love watching you. Great ideas and wonderful tool skills coming from the island barbados west indies
Climbing out on those rafters to place that rat run… oh my!
This show is awesome, thanks yall for all the great videos!!

hi Perkins Brothers a huge fan from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 living in Maryland awesome videos!!
Like your guys soundtrack. Sounds like some deep House tunes.

Hey Eric, Drone footage is really good today.
Love from India
U guys make it look so easy. It's really very impressive

I got say i lve your channel and the laughs ,I like to say jamie so handsome ❤. Looking forward to see more videos
Always excited to see your videos..🥳
Eric keeps all the " chaos " in order 🤣🤣🤣
I love this roof style and the window placement on this style of house. Is it really cost effective?😀
Osha would have a field day here
I built my last own house without any overhang at all. Looked really good and it was a dream to do the roof and gutters
This is so close to what we are looking to build about 2.5 hours away from your area. It makes me wish we could hire y'all. I don't have any idea how to know beforehand what kind of quality work someone does.
I felt Jamie's pain there with the trusses.
"Giant arc-edged something" on the bottom chord of that rafter = wane.
You guys are great
I have a question. Why do you guys not have a tool tank? You know like a three quarter ton or a one ton truck with a utility box linexed and a roll out bed. The build is coming along great and I love watching you guys build. Always great tips.
Question would it not have been better to rip and run Plywood/OSB along the ends of the trusses as a filler to further strengthen them.
They will have it once they put the advantec sheets on
I was talking about the wood fillers you ripped on the wall sides of the trusses that would have given it extra strength like you would do on floor trusses along the ends to seal them off. Ola, sou do Brasil, Rio de Janeiro e vejo todos os vídeos, gosto muito dos conteudos um abraços.
After you set the trusses and have the crane still then why don’t you lift up a bundle of 4x8 sheeting?to cover the roof
When they built the stadiums in India for the Commonwealth games a few years ago they did a triple tandem crane lift and had a disaster. One flipped over completely, one bent the jib and the other fell over.
In Australia we crane all trusses up at once and then stand them coz the manufacturer should’ve stacked them in order.
I get really a charge watching the crew with work and the fun you' all have! 😊
That was funny, licking the plate. I do that too.
Johnno is the serious , don’t mess with me dude .
"Thank you for building with us." I didn't build shit, you guys did all the work. I just sat back, had a coffee, and watched.
For interior walls I think I would bevel an extra top plate matched to the roof pitch on the table saw rather than cut every single stud at an angle but I'm lazy.
Nice cool day in Ohio and get to watch this!!!
It’s even cold in North Carolina today!
Yal are so funny sometimes cool awesome crew
Hey PBB. Love your work 👍
Did the French drain at the base of the foundation have to be inspected by the building inspector?
Did you have to bevel the top plates to accept the trusses?
Love all your positivity. You guys make a work day fun...so I can imagine it makes the time pass much better.
Glad to see I'm not the only dad too forget the tooth fairy!lol! Great video!
It doesn’t cost me anything to put a thumbs up sooo why not 👍 up cheers 🥂
LOL at the lady creeping with murderous intent in the woods!
We had a few floor trusses on my personal house that were 1/2” short 🤷♂️. No idea why. Maybe 4 of them out of ~50. Had to do 2 layers of sheathing there 🤷♂️😂🤣🤣.
