I recall as a young teenage lad when Heart was really flying high on the charts, all my friends would rave about how nice looking Nancy was and how great she was on the guitar. Well, that indeed was true, but I always had eyes for Ann. That long dark hair, round face, almond shaped eyes, full lips... and of course, that powerful voice. What isn't there to like???
So many rock vocalists lose their voices, squander their gifts, and then make audiences listen to them in sadness, longing for the days when they could still sing..... It's a song that I can feel personally because it happened to me in 1985 and to this day I still don't know where my son is and I am too frightened to find out. Recently I started listening to Heart. I've always been amazed at their vocals, guitar abilities etc. I was impressed that she changed the lyrics to support the man. Then completely lost me when she praised the "good work" that Planned Parenthood does. What part of pulling babies apart limb from limb inside the mother's womb is "good work"? I wish we could enjoy these artists for what they do and not have to hear what they believe/promote.
Incredible the way Ann still sings to this day! Many younger ones will never reach that high quality standard. And besides this she is still an attractive lady with a beautiful mind! In July 1977, as Heart's limo was leaving the Dane County Coliseum in Madison, Wisconsin, I (somehow) managed to get next to it. Running alongside, I stuck my right arm into where the band was riding and hollered at Ann that I would catch them when they came to Peoria (Illinois) in September of '77. Ann yelled something back at me as I broke off. Little did I know how significant that exchange in passing would be. In August of 1978, I managed to meet the Wilson sisters after a show in Des Moines, Iowa-and she remembered that passing exchange we had a year earlier!
My brother is a semi driver, and passed them- buss and semi's with HEART logos all over them- going the opposite direction on an interstate, he said it was the coolest feeling ever
BTW. She will hit the big 70, June 19. I don’t know about you guys but her rendition of “Stairway to Heaven” following the Honors to Led Zeppelin at the Kennedy Center will figure large on my headphones that day. She smashed it to pieces. I cry every time.......

2 Years ago my daughter got me tickets to see Heart (Ann and Nancy Wilson) live in Grand Rapids, MI, for Mother's Day! I can honestly say it ranks in the top 3 concerts I've EVER experienced. I'm 62 and have been to many, many live performances. 10 out of 10!!! Don't care how old they are...they sound as good now as they sounded on the first album of theirs that I heard when I was 13!!
