  • This is one way of doing a silicone fly, pretty much a Flex Fleye but without the UV.
I don't actually use this way much myself as I have newer technique's that leave a hollow head, but on the smaller sizes this is still a good way to go.
Material wise you can use pretty much anything to create the head/tail but it this version I'm using some home made SF Blend (kinky fibre and angel hair) over a Chockletts body wrap core.
    .
    Materials:
    Ahrex SA280 ( funkyflytying.com/product/ahr... )
    Chockletts body wrap ( funkyflytying.com/product/cho... )
    SF Blend ( funkyflytying.com/product/ste... )
    3D Eyes ( funkyflytying.com/product/hol... )
    Flex UV of Choice
Clear Silicone I like to use one make for Sealing Fish tanks and is available from most pet shops.
Glycerine to smooth the silicone, you can find it in most supermarkets in the baking section.

    Great looking fly m8!
I have been doing my silicone by putting a "dollop" and then rolling either a toothpick or one of those "grill-skewers" to spread it. I will try your trick also.
