- On inland lakes and impoundments, bass often taste like a cross between threadfin shad and dragonflies. After all, you are what you eat.
But in the marshes where I fish, bass eat crustaceans -- the same ones that we pay $6.99/pound to feast upon. That makes their flesh absolutely delicious, so when I go out with bass in the crosshairs, I always keep a few for dinner.
That was the case on my most recent trip, and when I returned home, I kept the cameras rolling to show you one of my favorite ways to cook them. Check out the video for all the details!

Yes!! The Chef Paul's Blackened Redfish Magic is my go to seasoning. It is great on beef steaks as well. Actually, good on anything!
I love when you post your struggles . It just makes you more believable
The start of this day was a head-scratcher, that's for sure
Looks delicious brother!! I’m gonna try it for sure!! 🎣 GOD bless!!
Beautiful simple meal. Thank you for eating the way we eat here. Love your vids.
I had similar situation with glass minnows and bass finally I use a white rapala smallest size. Tore them up!
Best glass minnow imitation I've found is the Rapala husky jerks in glass minnow pattern, number 6 and 8.
I went looking for some specs on Sunday in the Bievenue area. Found a few on jerkbaits but none of them were over 15". Went hunting for bass after that and found a pile as the temps started rising. I will have to try that recipe as those bass are the perfect fish to bring home for dinner!
Best fishing vids on RUclips, per usual. Ready to see saca’lait !!
Keep em coming! Love watching your videos from the rig. Somethings gotta hold me over till the end of my hitch!!!
That’s also good weather for socalait fishing
That was me on Sunday until the sun came out and that's when the bite just exploded.
Looks like Lake St Catherine area
That March Romance! SECRET SAUCE
It really is. I won't leave the dock without it this time of year. Gnats will ruin an otherwise great day.
Hey what pants are those that your wearing thanks keep the vids coming watch all of them while I do my cardio !
Hey Todd, do you use a trolling motor mounted transducer for your bow fish finder or just the transom mounted one?
Ill taste test it 🤤
Where are you fishing at?
Do you prefer to eat bass rather than trout? Or is it that bass is firmer and better to cook blackened?
Bass are better blackened. Trout are better in other dishes, like trout almandine.
In case anyone is wondering, the reply in this thread to text for a free gift is a common RUclips scam and not associated with Marsh Man Masson.
Are you still sticking with the 12lb leader or have you switched back to 20?
I've compromised to 15lb
@@MarshManMasson 👍 do you think the reason we have so little recaptures on tagged fish is because some do not make it due injury sticking a tag in them or inhibiting their ability to swim? I just worry sometimes that all these people are tagging fish now and do not think it is great for the fish.
What do you think? I guess we really have no way to prove one way or another because some make it obviously because they get recaptured but it is such a small %.
I actually think the numbers of fish that are recaptured are impressively high. When you consider the size and intricacy of the Louisiana coast, it's remarkable to me that a tagged redfish has a 6% chance of being recaptured. Survival rates for fish that receive dart tags are quite high, and even though a few may perish, the program is well worth it for the data it provides. Besides, a fish's chance of survival is much higher being tagged and released than thrown in an ice chest.
@@MarshManMasson thanks
What area, in general, is you favorite for marsh bass ?
Can't say I have a favorite, but fishing for them is great in Delacroix, Hopedale, Shell Beach, Venice (seasonally), Rigolets, Lafitte and Dularge.
Reds seem to be absent?
Louisiana's redfish population is a pale shadow of what it once was. Major management reforms are overdue.
most of the fish that i tag dont get reported which is sad cause i wanna know what that fish is doing 365 days a year
Historically, only 3% of speckled trout and 6% of redfish are recaptured, so when we tag and release most of these fish, they're gone for good but not forgotten.
