    For the past few months, I was set on getting a new H-D Street Glide Special. Then, some 3 weeks ago, I took a test ride on an Indian Chieftain Dark Horse. I ride the Chieftain home that same day. I still have 2 Harleys, but I love this Chieftain.
    Among other things, I just installed a Rinehart exhaust. Now, my Chieftain sounds insanely awesome. Already have over a 1000 miles on it. Gotta love it!

    • @HvyMetal4Ever
      @HvyMetal4Ever 3 года назад +5

      This is what I like to see. People think it's taboo to love both brands. I am really considering a Chieftain, because lets face it - the H-D suspension is outdated and uncomfortable. How would you compare your first thousand on the Indian vs the Harley? I am looking at getting into a bagger and love the idea of the Chieftain.
      I just need to find a dealership so I can do a proper test ride on an Indian. The dealership I have here in town are filled with a bunch of pretentious asshats

      @@HvyMetal4Ever Personally, having test driving many demo runs on the H-D Street Glide and driving friends’ SGs, the Chieftain opened my eyes to a better alternative. YMMV
      The first 1000 miles have all been smiles ear to ear. The suspension and ergonomics have been stellar.
      Next weekend, I venture out of Las Vegas to San Diego and meet with family and friends. From there we all ride up the Pacific Coast Highway and enjoy.
      They all ride Street Glides and have no idea that I now have an Indian Chieftain DH. 😂

      I went in for a Demo, and the most they let me do (after I scheduled it) was to ride down to Rainbow, over to frontage road, and back up. They told me I couldn't take it on the freeway.

ADJUSTABLE windshield, and at HD you have to get a CVO to get remote locking bags. AND! THAT 116 IS ONE CUBIC INCH SMALLER THAN THE CVO...I BET ITS FASTER TOO. I must test ride one!

Best sled for 2021 with the new matrix chassis . Tied in class of atvs and side by sides with can am and now Indians are over exceeding Harley in features comfort and horsepower for motorcycles. Not including there 3 wheel slingshot that’s more research and development. Bottom line is Polaris is striving to be the best in the power sports industry. Going to make Harley Davidson step up there game or be ran over.brother drives a HD I rode the chieftain and I loved it smooth and I love the power windshield and the deactivation of a cyclinder for low speeds . Not sue if harleys are doing that yet. Display screen is sweet .

Dealer refused to fix oil issue until it happened 3 times so I bought the $50 kit and installed myself. Rather simple having to drill hole in primary and install breather tube. Its the concept that I had to do this myself on new bike. Also - what about the damage on existing transmission running it very low on oil? Now with bearing noise I'm leaning on test driving Indian. Love HD but.......its more name and quality. Sad....

      The 2021 has the new slipper clutch. Apple Car play is standard on the 2021. It is a software download for the 2020. The V-twin motor is physically a bit slimmer on the 2021 versus the 2020. You would have to put them side by side to notice the difference. As the original poster mentioned the power button is moved to the hand controls on the 2021 which allowed them to put a SAE power outlet on the fairing to power accessories.

    They are nice and have value added such as ride modes and others but since 1901 is not accurate. Maybe for the Indian name but the original Indian went out of business In I think 1953. Polaris claiming heritage they bought. Just my opinion.

      Well it is no different than AMF saving Harley Davidson. The Indian name has changed hands unbroken since 1901which is why Polaris, an American Motorsports manufacturer had to purchase the company. Harley Davidson is more of an apparel company.

    Est 1901. Absent for 50 years. It's just a name with zero connection to the original. Now all the shitty styling cues that made Victory terrible are being slowly reintroduced as they gain sales and confidence. Decent product and I really like the new chief except for the victory back fender. Love the fact that Indian opened up the front of the bike with the window frame and kept it air cooled.. meanwhile Harleys m8 looks Japanese and has a radiator in the frame like a Honda. Times are strange indeed my friends
