For the past few months, I was set on getting a new H-D Street Glide Special. Then, some 3 weeks ago, I took a test ride on an Indian Chieftain Dark Horse. I ride the Chieftain home that same day. I still have 2 Harleys, but I love this Chieftain. Among other things, I just installed a Rinehart exhaust. Now, my Chieftain sounds insanely awesome. Already have over a 1000 miles on it. Gotta love it!
This is what I like to see. People think it's taboo to love both brands. I am really considering a Chieftain, because lets face it - the H-D suspension is outdated and uncomfortable. How would you compare your first thousand on the Indian vs the Harley? I am looking at getting into a bagger and love the idea of the Chieftain. I just need to find a dealership so I can do a proper test ride on an Indian. The dealership I have here in town are filled with a bunch of pretentious asshats
@@HvyMetal4Ever Personally, having test driving many demo runs on the H-D Street Glide and driving friends’ SGs, the Chieftain opened my eyes to a better alternative. YMMV The first 1000 miles have all been smiles ear to ear. The suspension and ergonomics have been stellar. Next weekend, I venture out of Las Vegas to San Diego and meet with family and friends. From there we all ride up the Pacific Coast Highway and enjoy. They all ride Street Glides and have no idea that I now have an Indian Chieftain DH. 😂

I went to two Indian Dealers here in Georgia, and the salespeople are garbage. I Asked to test ride a couple of bikes and they pretty much said that I would have leave a down payment to do so. Have 2019 Road Glide. Had issues with transmission oil being sucked into primary (known issue with M8 motor) and now front wheel bearing noise/issues. Only have 2400 miles. Dealer refused to fix oil issue until it happened 3 times so I bought the $50 kit and installed myself. Rather simple having to drill hole in primary and install breather tube. Its the concept that I had to do this myself on new bike. Also - what about the damage on existing transmission running it very low on oil? Now with bearing noise I'm leaning on test driving Indian. Love HD but.......its more name and quality. Sad....
Unfortunately H-D uses their customers as product testers. They bring out an engine and it takes 5 - 7 years to work most of the bugs and engineering mistakes out of them which the customer pays for. Harley has nice paint but their engines are budget build engines.
Nice ride. I can say with confidence that this will be my next purchase. But I have to ask. Why do you keep reaching over to use the controls on the right with your left hand instead of your right thumb which is what you should be doing? Seems pretty unsafe to keep doing that.
