2:41 I love this moment right here where the music gets intense and Arnold gets scared and says "A Bomb?" It's like the movie just turned into an Arnold action film.
@davidfarmer2193 Yes that's true but, it seems like the KQRS radio host seems very confused from what he said from 4:31-4:36 when it sounds like he said on the radio that he has a Turbo Man doll in the studio for the winner. Unless maybe he was refusing to claim Howard and/or Myron as winners just for breaking inside or maybe he did say about the gift certificate on the radio but, Howard and/or Myron wasn't listening since they were screaming in the diner as they were fighting for the payphone and maybe the radio host was still talking about the gift certificate after Myron disconnected the phone but they were still screaming. Probably when the diner owner was telling them to just go in person to the radio station was when the radio host stopped talking about the gift certificate.
Saw this in the cinema in December 1996 and I swear *nobody* could stop laughing at this part. Didn’t know what happened in the next scene cause my eyes were watering. 😂🤣
Arnold running down the road while chanting their names is legit how I memorized the names of Santa's reindeer. It somehow moved into my brain and hasn't left in nearly thirty years
One of the best theater experiences of all time. Can’t beat it, I’m convinced. Top 5 movie to see in a packed theater. Rat Race was another one where nobody could stop laughing. Team America was another one. Just another level.
@scottbuckley823 That's true since his look was like he was saying, "you have been disrespecting me this whole time and now you're calling me buddy." However, it sounds like Howard was showing a little respect towards him while in the diner.
@@scottbuckley823 Yes, Howard kind of was pouring his heart out to Myron about the clubhouse he built for his son Jamie only because they were taking a break on their quests. Also yes, they were both doing a bad thing grabbing the payphone at the same time only because both of them were most likely at wits ends on their quests and were willing to do anything just to get a Turbo Man doll for their sons. Plus, Howard was already about to give up by returning home empty handed since his car broke down.
@edwardjohnston7067 The thing is he was just joking to make it look like it was a bomb just to force the radio host to give him the Turbo Man doll. Plus in the next scene when he was being cornered by the police, he took out another package to pretend he had a bomb and then he put it on the floor making it look like he was holding a switch saying to the police "don't even think of moving" making them stay in one spot like he was saying, "I will push the button on the switch if any of you move." However, when he heard the explosion from it he said, "that really was a bomb, we're living in a sick world with sick people" as a way of feeling surprised that he was carrying a bomb the whole time when he was just trying to bluff his way out from the police.
Don't forget, Jamie ended up giving up his Turbo Man action figure at the end of the movie after winning it at the Christmas Eve parade, but Howard still had that gift certificate if he wanted to get Jamie another one. The only downside is that he would've had to wait a week or two until they got more figures in stores. Just saying.
@@svin7987 Yeah, he did. It's mentioned in a deleted scene where the tow truck driver is giving Howard a lift home after his car got ruined, and he's talking with her about how he should confess to his wife about failing to get Jamie the Turbo Man figure. He's also seen holding it when he's trying to get out of the radio station after the police arrive and fall for Myron's explosive package.
Exactly. 0:11-0:24 - Despite his claims, at no point does he say "gift certificate" or "eventually" on the radio. It looks like foresight isn't really the DJ's strong suit. To elaborate, someone breaking into the studio and demanding that he give them the supposed Turbo Man doll is the last thing he should've expected. One also has to wonder how someone would react to being told they won a measly gift certificate and not an actual Turbo Man doll. It's also doubtful he was ready to face the backlash of any angry participants. When he explains what the prize actually was, Howard and Myron almost beat his head into the desk for his stupidity.
Actually he didn't. he just said they had the chance of winning the hottest toy in the world. I see no reason that'd mean he had a turboman doll in the studio.
@Astralr When I first saw this movie after hearing the diner clerk say "hey look you guys", I thought he was going to say "you both better get out of here now before I call the police for fighting in my diner."
Myron: Are you laughing at me? Huh? Ponytailman: Oh no, oh lord nono! Not at all! Myron: Mr Ponytail Man! I know you, I know your kind! You're the kind that puts the trashcan infront of the mailbox so I have to get out my jeep don't you! Ponytail Man: Nonono, that's not true! I recycle. Arnold: SHUT UP! Myron: that's right shut up!
@Darkseid That's funny and I guess after both Howard and Myron told him to shut up, it would have been funny if the DJ said "fine, I won't claim you both as the winner then."
Say, Darkseid, if it was you, would you bring Mr. Ponytail Man to Apokolips to be tortured by DeSaad or just obliterate him with your Omega Beams in the studio?
