- She had big hair, big lips and a big voice. She used all of those attributes to get her foot in the door of the music industry in the ‘80s and went on to become one of the decade’s most popular icons. Her talent also helped her escape a difficult upbringing and allowed her to create the life of her dreams.

Happy to hear she is cancer free! I've always loved her song 'Love Will Lead You Back'
My favourite song as well.
Taylor has a-MONSTER-voice !!! Go look at her live performances, that girl can sing. LOL.There's also a live performance of her singing live on:Show Time at the Apollo,an out-standing redition.
Me too tell it to my heart is another.
@@NellieKAdabaAnd I have to add.... Mine too! 👍
Yes! No lie, I'm going thru a split now.... and I promise you just the other night driving home from work, I pulled "Love Will Lead You Back" up on Spotify and was screaming along with it😂😂😂😂 great song❤
Tell It to My Heart has ALWAYS been a childhood favorite! So upbeat! Blessings to Ms. Dayne for beating cancer! ❤️
Yes! That was the jam!
Mine too
@@charleysnow3772 😁
@@britbritnicole9211 That's right! 💯
ME too 😁✔
She's one of the top singers of her generation and is totally slept on
Taylor Dayne has a lot of timeless club hits and ballads
She’s such an underrated vocalist.
I completely agree how the hell. did Madonna take off and she did not
She has such a distinctive voice.
"I'll Be Your Shelter" is my song! Glad she's cancer free!
Being an 80s baby from the Bronx, Taylor Dayne is my earliest memory of music. My parents would take me to the video store and I would ask for her VHS because I loved her voice, her looks and her moves!
Queens right here, you know it! Taylor was everywhere.
Bx !! ❤️
Taylor Dayne is quite simply one of the greatest voices in modern music, tremendously underrated as well as she is up there with Whitney, Mariah and Celine as a vocalist, but she is rarely mentioned nowadays.
Well she only had ONE hit. 💀
@@bmwjourdandunngoddess6024 2 dance hits, even the video says she had 5.
Nah...Taylor had quite a few unforgettable songs like Don't Rush Me, Tell It To My Heart, Love Will Lead You Back and I'll Always Love You. When Anastacia came on the scene in the 90s a lot of music listeners were reminded of just how great and overlooked Taylor Dayne was. They sound exactly alike.
@@bmwjourdandunngoddess6024 She had several top 10 hits and a number 1, which was a ballad.
exactly
To this day, I still scream 🎶TELL IT TO MY HEART, TELL ME I'M THE ONLY ONE🎶. Yes I LOVE 80s music. Good that she beat cancer, such a diagnosis can be scary.
ME too 😁🖤
Definitely one of the best singers of the 80s and 90s. if not ever, SO underrated.
I love Taylor Dayne, I’m an 80’s baby, she had songs I loved growing up..
No doubt
When she was on The Masked Singer, I knew her immediately! Her voice is part of the fabric of my childhood. My older sister used to blast Taylor's songs on her radio while she got ready to go out and I'd be right there in her doorway watching and dancing along. I can still see my sister teasing her bangs and the smell of AuqaNet in the air while we both belted out Tell it To my Heart :)
👍THISSS!!!☺️🎯💯👍
Same here. When Taylor appeared as "Popcorn", I think most everyone knew it was her due to her tone and the clue packages.
Glad this channel covered Taylor Dayne. Tell It To My Heart helped make the 80s awesome.
Absolutely. I feel like Taylor could be somewhat of a freestyle legend too with that song.
Tell It To My Heart was a definition song for the 80s! So energetic and powerful, I love her voice so much. Good for her she's cancer free!
Thanks for covering Taylor Dayne! Her music is such a big part of the soundtrack of my youth and early adulthood. 💕
Same here
Ida Larson
I strongly agree with you!! Still rocking with her til this day😊
“I’ll always love you” was one the last songs I sung with my grandmother. We LOVED it. Taylor Dane has some great music. Great video! Glad she’s doing well.
💚Aww...it is such a beautiful song.
@@TheRetroWoman80 is!
I love Taylor Dayne. I always thought a black woman sung I'll Always Love You lol. I love her voice.
I Will Always Love You is an underrated classic
I always wondered what happened to her-why she didn’t go further. I loved “love will lead you back”. Will watch with my hubby after work! ❤🍷
Thank God that she's cancer-free today. I'm glad she was able to reach her dream of becoming a mother. Taylor has a voice in her. "Tell It To My Heart" is a forever bop!🙌🏾💃🏾
Definitely in the lane with Teena (the OG) of blue eyed soul... I'm glad to hear she's doing well and she's cancer free ❤
The slow lane, maybe….
Not even CLOSE to Lady La Dona!
Nay, NO ONE TOUCHES MS LADY T!!! 🎵I’m talking Square Biz to you baby…🎶
@@abvthlw I said a lane... Choose what u please 🙄
@@deshonebonyrowland-ward4552 And I said what I said in response….do keep it movin’.
@abvthlw why such a bitchy attitude
I'll Wait is one of my fave underrated songs by her ❤
Yes I love her in that song.
Love that song tell it to my heart . I wish she could have been in the Teena Marie lane.
taylor dayne is a very talented singer and she has this magical voice and lyrics that i love❤️her songs will never be forgotten in this word. since when have you been listening to Taylor's songs?
I love Taylor Dayne. She's got a soulful voice and very underrated. You guys should do more episodes on underappreciated female solo artists or groups from that era, such as Lisa Stansfield, Martika, The Cover Girls, Seduction, etc.
I’ve always loved Taylor Dane!!!!! 🥰🥰
taylor dayne is a very talented singer and she has this magical voice and lyrics that i love💕her songs will never be forgotten in this word. since when have you been listening to Taylor's songs?
“I’ll Always Love You” just beautiful ❤️
Big fan, I have great memories of driving around as kid with my mom in her baby blue Geo Tracker listening to Taylor Dayne.
Love her music. Particularly her first 2 albums. She got SOUL!! Never knew that she made few albums and was recovering from colon cancer. She had to take care of her health and that's important. After the "Naked without you(98)" album I 💭 she was done making music. Because of this update she's not. Thanks for this update 👍!
'I'll Always Love You' is STILL the cut though.
One of my favorites from back in the day! Glad she was able to beat cancer! Love Will Lead You Back is still a timeless classic! ❤
This January was the 35th anniversary of Taylor Dayne's debut album Tell it to My Heart
She should have continued pumping out great dance/ freestyle tracks
Taylor Dayne is an excellent singer
Such a humble person I saw her in concert twice and got to meet her in person
still to this day the best female vocalist. Tat voice of hers is mesmerizing
The Tell It To My Heart single came out in 1987, the full album came out in 1988.
" I'll Always Love You"...Another one of those songs ( but not played much on the radio) "Quiet Storm" classics ❤❤😊💯🎶🎶🎶
She has some great hits. Great Dayne! I'm glad to hear that she's cancer free!

I will see her tonight. New years eve in concert live . The 80s..great music ❤❤❤
Excellent story on Taylor Dayne
I f**kin loved Taylor Dayne back in the 80s.
I definitely remember Taylor Dayne and Taylor Dane. Both goats. 😂😂
😂 😂 😂
I loved Don’t Rush Me and I will always love you. Taylor Dayne has a great voice. She reminds me of Tina Marie but Tina was definitely more soul full Tina is legendary.
I feel you. They are both are very soulful and have their own distinctive sound that everyone recognizes immediately.
God I love Taylor dayne!!! She was so talented vocally and amazing!!!
Taylor Dayne.
Her voice is natural, I got her 🤠🎉😊🙂🚫💵💰😂🤣🌍🚭😴✅🛑🥺😣😳😲 on RUclips Music 🎵🎶 as well.
I still listen to her today💗💗
She has to be 1 of my favorite singers. I can listen to her sing all day
OMG thank you for doing a video on my girl Taylor Dayne !!!!
Taylor Dayne has always been a powerhouse vocalist with a dynamic presence. She deserves her flowers for sure
I'm as r&b as you can get and I love her song I'll always love you .
One song she had and that is criminally ignored : Original Sin !!
Next year will be the 35th anniversary of Taylor Dayne's sophomore album Can't Fight Fate
Bless her ❤. I always thought she was abused. Because she had a certain sadness to her voice when she sang. When she said she had to tiptoe around her father because of his moods. I knew what she meant. I my mom and my 6 siblings had to do the same thing. My dad's only difference was. That his rage was due to alcohol/wars he was in. Like her childhood mine and my families was hell! Thank God she made it through those days and is also cancer free. Because she is truly a blessing to the world! ☺️❤️🕊⚘️⚘️⚘️
I'll Wait was always one of my favorite songs.
Whew!! My obsession with Taylor Dayne is strong and real!!
THANK YOU for covering Taylor Dayne! My dad was just as crazy about her as he was Whitney Houston and Tina Turner and especially loved "Tell It to My Heart" and my favorite is "I'll Always Love You."
I LOVE me some Taylor Dayne too !!!! That woman is-GORGEOUS-and-SEXY !!! And those green eyes too. LOL. Makes me thirsty.
My mom used to blast her music in the 80s. 😄
As soon as I saw the thumbnail and read thru the heading,, my mind immediately went to the track "Don't rush me" a song I last heard in the late 80s.
Her voice and LeAnn rimes voices in the 90s so beautiful can cross all genres of music if done right.
Freaking LOVE her! I have her first album on CD and play it regularly!!
taylor dayne is a very talented singer and she has this magical voice and lyrics that i love💕her songs will never be forgotten in this word. since when have you been listening to Taylor's songs?
I found it interesting how Clive Davis said NOT to put a photo of her on the cover so Black folks would buy her album.
That’s the very thing they did to Black artists and/or groups back in the 50a & 60. White people were depicted on album jackets. White groups were trying to emulate Black groups like The Temps because they appealed to everyone.(Watch THE FIVE HEARTBEATS movie)
Taylor is deserving of her 💐 for sure. She got major play on the radio.
Berry gordy did the same thing to Teena Marie.
@@00sbabyoldschoolspirit80Beat me to it!
My Favorite song by Taylor Dane is : I'll Always Love You 😉
Love will lead you back!
I hope she stays cancer free she's been through a lot.
Great video. I saw her on Sway in the morning, she talked about touring with MJ. I am glad she is cancer free.
I didn't even know she had cancer. After losing my daughter's father to it, I cringe when I hear the word cancer. It's a life stealing bandit that tears people and families apart💔. I'm glad Taylor was able to beat it. I hope and pray it never rears its ugly head in her life again!!🙏
@@bosslady7611I hate that it it still around too😔
I ❤ 🥰her look on the 1st album!!☺️🎯💯👍💕
Oooh I was listening to Soul Dancing yesterday, Taylor deserved so much better
She’s still gorgeous 🤩 beautiful voice 🎶🎵. She definitely in my playlist 🎧

I use think Taylor Dayne was mix. She had a voice on her. I love her music still. I'm happy she beat cancer and is cancer free. She was on macked singer and won too
I wish Taylor had done at least one album with Prince OMG
Beautiful and talented singer❤
Enjoyed this🤩. Taylor is such a powerhouse! Glad she is also cancer-free!
Taylor should get bigger popularity in the 80s, there are very few singers who are also good vocalist now days.
MY FAVORITE SONG FROM TAYLOR DAYNE IS I' LL BE YOUR SHELTER!
Here for this video.
🥳
Taylor had one of the most powerful voices. She could belt out songs that can over power electric musical instruments. She's got an awesome voice -!
Ill Wait is still my fav song by her since childhood.....all thanks to the end credits of Blank Check
Taylor had a soulful voice but "Tell It To My Heart" was Dance/ Pop. As far as her saying her race worked against her at R&B radio, leaving Teena Marie out of the equation, Madonna, Hall & Oates, Culture Club, George Michaeal and Lisa Stanfield all had big hits on the R&B charts in the 80s. Lisa was more successful R&B than Pop. She and Taylor were both on Arista.
Right plus I didn't know Taylor was considered full white, I thought she was biracial!!
Wow. Did not know she had achived so much. All l know her for is Tell It and her first album.
I miss her.......
When I first saw her video in the late 80s, I thought she was black. Although Teena Marie was an R&B singer, she was never mistaken for black. She came before Taylor and did great in R&B so I don't see why Taylor had so much trouble.
I will admit I’m not very familiar with her however so many artists like her teena marie Bobby Caldwell and others were put in that faceless box to make sure there music hit certain audiences much like black artists had to do in the days of “ crossing over” the industry is such a monster 💜
YES...FACTS...the entertainment industry as a WHOLE is REALLY a MONSTER...smh
@lizstanton2727: Black american audiences actually have a lot to do regarding what you said...those audiences rarely give credit to white singers singing Soul/R&B...and radio programers in the US just go along with that...
Taylor …. What a voice 👌🏻😎
When MJ Co signs you have some kind of talent .
I love Taylor Dayne and my favorite song is Tell It To My Heart ❤.
Great job yet again! Taylor was/is a great artist and her music was apart of that soundtrack of endless goodness for this 80s baby!
Love your channel! The videos as phenomenal and extremely detailed and informative, I do have a suggestion for a future video: the singer rockell
i grew up with her music. You have got to have lungs of steel to sing her songs.
TAYLOR IS A VERY COOL LADY I HAVE HUNG OUT WITH HER MANY TIMES SHE IS REAL
She was ahead of her time
Love her aloooot❤❤❤
