If no one is singing we usually play in C or F. When we play for singers, we go with what key it is written in or whatever fits their vocal range. We have a quartet in our church that likes to do a lot of songs in the key of A (yuk). Personally I like Bb. It seems to fit my hand better so to speak. However, I cannot play in B or F#. I struggle with the key of E.
