Like the professor said, if they're not willing to take part in the same military service that is basically mandatory for all other citizens, then it's stupid to expect them to be thought of equally. Other groups - Bedouin, Druze, etc. - who regularly serve are better integrated into Israeli society and don't suffer from these attitudes. But other Arab Muslims hate participating in any responsible form of security or defense. Watching this I can't see any reason to say there isn't apartheid or an attitude of apartheid in Israel currently. While I commend this professor for his courage to speak his opinion contrary to the popular sentiment in Israel, as a Christian male who lived there I have to say he is very naive to think that anti-Jewish sentiment is at the "periphery" of arab culture or society there. Mohammedan arabs are brought-up with a hatred of Jews and Israel (there is no separation for them at this point). However many smiles and signs of friendship they show in public to further their chances in society (i.e. better job, staying off the Mosaad radar etc) it does not take much to incite their hatred behind closed doors. And as always, the non-violent Christian arabs are the ones who get the brunt of the conflict from both sides (most oracticing-Jewish Israelis don't even bother to distinguish between non-Jews...we're all equally beneath them in their mindset).

For instance, were you to take a survey In the 1940's of British people and quizzed them about the Germans I'm quite confident a significant majority of the Brits would say Yes I hate the Germans. However a key point i want to highlight is that were this survey taken by Palestinian arabs about Jews I can assure you that the anti-Jew (I am specifying here, not even Anti Israeli BUT anti Jew) sentiment would unfortunately be significantly higher and more extreme then the anti Arab sentiment expressed in this video. Watching this I can't see any reason to say there isn't apartheid or an attitude of apartheid in Israel currently. While I commend this professor for his courage to speak his opinion contrary to the popular sentiment in Israel, as a Christian male who lived there I have to say he is very naive to think that anti-Jewish sentiment is at the "periphery" of arab culture or society there. Mohammedan arabs are brought-up with a hatred of Jews and Israel (there is no separation for them at this point). However many smiles and signs of friendship they show in public to further their chances in society (i.e. better job, staying off the Mosaad radar etc) it does not take much to incite their hatred behind closed doors. And as always, the non-violent Christian arabs are the ones who get the brunt of the conflict from both sides (most oracticing-Jewish Israelis don't even bother to distinguish between non-Jews...we're all equally beneath them in their mindset).

First of all its important to realise that there is a huge amount of built up tension in that side of the world and it actually takes great character to actually step up and say NO i do not hate the people that I am essentially at war with. For instance, were you to take a survey In the 1940's of British people and quizzed them about the Germans I'm quite confident a significant majority of the Brits would say Yes I hate the Germans.
