Overall though, this is a strange car in terms of opinions of it. Techincally speaking, it should be one of the most iconic top tier JDM cars of all time. It's very ahead of it's time in terms of tech with active aero and twin turbos, and it's an extremely fast car especially when tuned in most racing games. And yet at the same time, I find the chatter for this car quite modest compared to the Supra or RX7. And I'm not gonna lie, it's definitely because of the Lancer Evolution vs Impreza STI rivalry. I would say the 2nd most popular production car rivalry in history behind Ferrari vs Lamborghini. When there's a rivalry this big and in the Evo's case is centred around one car, people start to forget Mitsubishi's other great achievements; the GTO, FTO, Eclipse. These are all fantastic cars in their own way (I personally love the FTO). But man, people just don't get 90's Non Evo Mitsubishi the credit they deserve.
This has been my first interaction with this car and it's got interesting quirks. It's the only car I've seen where in the base tune it's fast enough to exceed the speedometer. The gearing is also very long and the gradual build up of sound before redline is quite cool. Also has the capability of awd which is a plus - very easy and manoeuvrable. This car is definitely on my radar now.
Love this car so much! I really hope they ad the other versions soon too (mk2,mk3 &mk4). I played this in vr today and it's power and handling was very impressive!
I'm happy they put the platform in, but it should have been a second gen with the 6 speed and more power - they've always been class leading in previous GT games, easily out accelerating the 300ZX TT and RX7 TT from a dead atop until top speed, and it was faster around tracks than the Z. The 1998 GTO MR actually beats the R32 Skyline in a head on race. Similar to real life, the VR-4 is only bested by the Supra Twin Turbos high trap speed and leaves the 300ZX Twin Turbo and US FD3 FD3 RX-7s for dead in a drag race. I used to own a 1996 3000GT VR-4, bone stock, and it ran a 13.40@103.08 once I got the launch down, and that was just on the first night out on the strip, third run! In game it's ok. Never driven a 1G so I wouldn't know for sure, but acceleration off the line is beaten only by the Skyline GTRs and it holds off the other 90s JDM cars off until over 120mph from a standstill. The car has extremely long gearing that can be annoying or helpful. Handling is very good. Overall, meh. I'm not a fan of 1G VR4s/GTOs, I like the 1994 and up models. PD needs to add a 1999 3000GT VR-4 or GTO MR (as well as a Lotus Esprit) for me to truly love this gorgeous game.
I agree man completely. I drove it on the nurburgring against n600 cars. It's so ridiculously heavy feeling, even after the weight reduction and HP boost. The braking is crazy though, and it was still fun to drive.
They should have put a second gen VR4/ GTO instead. It was extremely faster than the 300ZX / RX7 TT, only lost to the Supra. It was realistic as well. This one is low HP and has bad gearing. The second gen made 320hp.
Exactly! I had a 6-speed 95’ VR4 10yrs ago. The VR4’s in Europe, have 13c turbos that made 500hp with just full bolt ons. My normal 95 vr4 have the 9b turbos that made a right at 400hp with bolt ons. Awesome cars. But yes, idk why they didn’t add the next gen, it’s faster..
Drove it (100% stock) on new RedBull Ring rain event at the JDM Sports meeting & it was very cool. I enjoy driving heavy cars, they have a way better feeling when it comes to braking.
They never had to wait for the reappearence if the legendary GTO so much, just as the FTO limited edition should also return . As Wells tracks of GT 1 and the other cara

It's odd that you can't power it up to 900 horsepower given that the Supra and Skyline can still take that kind of power. It's not like it couldn't handle that power.
Polyphony needs to pay homage to the first GT and make a GTO race car.

Ness in Pajamas all those other Mitsubishi deserve a lot of attention in racing games
I personally love the 3000GT
One of the fastest cars in the first gran turismo.
Think It was the gto and the pikes peak Suzuki.
@@cathalorourke1 that's right
Afair this and HKS nissan. Around 1000hp.
Thank God they finally added it
For me this was by far the best car in the first Gran Turismo! You could output +900hp! True legend!
The Starion would be a great addition too

Yeah its common for JDM cars to exceed their speedo, since they max out at 120 mph. A few of the Japanese cars in the game are like that
This GTO was actually present in GT1 and 2. It was the less expensive and second hand version of the GTO, the Poorman version let me say.
Yes this version was also in GT1 and 2, correct.
👍
Yeah one of the first cars I bought.
Mitsubishi GTO VS Ferrari GTO... a Battle that needs to happen
Haha - GTO is faster. Personal experience. ;)
Add the Pontiac GTO to that list
I like the active aero splitter and rear wing on the Mitsubishi GTO

i love how u beat all those supercars with the 3000gt
The GTO, fastest car in a straight line in GT1
I really liked the rocket launcher analogy :D
haha, thanks
Oh geez. Haas is in the Laferrari in this race
I'm not an F1 fan, but plenty of F1 enthusiasts in the Discord server like to diss on the Haas team.

it's the first time i'm impressed by the brake of a car in a game tbh
Its like that in real life
one of my favorite cars in GT1!

How You USE PUMA colour?
I made the same green livery 😁
I was planning on doing this livery as well for the retro gt1 look... is yours public? I'd love you save myself the hours.
Gt replay awesome💪
The very reason i didn't do the Puma livery every body and they momma did it so I went with the B-ing GTO #29 livery
same lol im rockin the one that featured in thunderbolt movie, the red white nicos
@@andikamichael yea that one is dope love the colors on that livery
Love this fat car

Yeah, strange
very strange
Sadly strange, this was a route x fav of mine
Yes thats a damn shame 600 hp is not enough i was expecting at least 700 hp. Hopefully They are the later gens ane i hope theyndont get nerfed to much
Bring the Galant back!
Bro 1 lap and overtake all N.1000 class? (La Ferrari doesnt count)
Yeah, with no boost, weak slip and expert Ai. It dominates Ai easily
Design:4.2/10.0
Performance:8.1/10.0
Breaking:7.7/10.0
Handling:6.7/10.0
Sound:9.1/10.0
My Opinion about this Car update of Gran Turismo Sport.
Design 4.2?🤣Are you serious?!
In n900 the gto would be a game breaker
Always liked this PUMA livery on the GTO.
It needs the WORK Meister S1's though!
The original car has them!
👍
I didn't make it, so meh, lol
@@HSGAutomotive 😂👍
Too bad they didn't incorporate it's ALL WHEEL STEERING it had into the game.. which would change the dynamics of its handling on the circuit courses.
its an open road sleeper!
This is a front heavy car.
