    Five years down the road and your video is still helpful to us pellet cooker guys. My fan would sometimes fail to start when I turned the controller on. I would have the get under it and spin it a time or two. It was an easy fix and the Amazing delivery guy delivered a new fan in 2 days. :) That was a couple of years ago.

      Thanks for the comment, my intent was to provide an update. My fan is still going after that fix. I do plan to upgrade the old beast as everything internal is beginning to erode away. Hot pot, etc. Traegers are so costly so i keep nursing it along.

    Thank you for the quick and efficiant video. Mine was squealing at 6am this morning. Very annoying! I wasn't able to get the whole sidepanel off (I have a different model), but I was able to get the metal air vent off the bottom and view that part you were showing us. Frustratingly the fan had flat rivets and I wasn't able to take it apart, but I did shoot it with some WD40 and that did the trick! I'll have to have my husband look at it later, but I was proud I got it going with your help! Thank you again!

    This helps immensely! I didn’t realize there were 2 different fans as I never looked. Anyway your video was very informative even though I forwarded to the last few minutes when you found the culprit. 😊

    Hi Bubba, thank you so much for this great video. I had the exact same problem with my Treager. After watching your video, and applying a few shots of WD-40, its purring like new once again! Cheers!

    Thanks for this video. Everything I looked up said auger jam. I diagnosed as you showed and it was the fan on the auger motor. I took apart and regressed with lithium grease. Works fantastic 4.99 instead of 70.00 for a new auger motor.

      Great Vid. Mine just started to make the noise and watching your vid is gonna save me alot of time in troubleshooting. I have the Junior Elite. How is your smoker holding up. Still running without a replacement fan?

      @@donnakekahbah1873 ya i have to say i am a pretty heavy user and nothing major broken. My on off switch doesnt work but the temp dial also turns off cooker. The one item that i have been told usually goes first is the heating rod; still workin.

    My induction fan died yesterday in the middle of smoking baby back ribs. The smoker made lots of smoke but the temp kept falling. I finally gave up and put the ribs in the kitchen oven to finish. My fan was making noises for the last few cooks. I should have checked it out. I'm replacing the auger motor, induction fan and firerod/ pot since my smoker is used. My neighbor gave it to me a few months back. Thanks for the video and keep on smokin'.

      Ya definitely the right thing to do. I was always told the fire rod is generally was goes out in traegers first. I only planned on my fix to be temporary but plan to replace fan and rod as well. I am thinking of upgrading my control panel to one with temp probes. Will make video once i get the parts.

    I just had The same squealing noise on my little Tex 22, this happened at 1st start up after I set it on its back to remove the legs when I was building a custom cart. I found your video helpful to get to the fan where I took a screwdriver and just tapped the back plate and the squealing immediately stopped. So my guess is I think it has something to do with the unusual attitude and something falling into the plate that I dislodged. Thank you for the video.

      Yes, it would appear that traegers are effected by altitude for sure not aware if other brands have similar issues.

    How did you take off the main intake fan is it just a few screws?
    What did you lube the fan part with?

      They can be purchased on Amazon for between 10-30 depending on time of year. Much more if bought from Traeger themselves.

    Weird question but here goes. I was given a traeger, it's about 12 years old but had worked great up until tonight. It cooked fine but about an hour into cooking it started making a terrible noise. I looked in hooper and it was almost empty so I loaded more pellets.... the noise didn't go away. What could the problem be? I have a video of the noise, I would love to send it to you. I know nothing about these things.

    • @BubbasWorkbench
      @BubbasWorkbench  3 года назад +1

      Somestimes pellets can jam in the auger tube. I am assuming the noise your hearing is the auger overloading. This jamming can happen when pellets run out or so low that you can see the auger when looking into the hopper. It usually clears, might make loud noise as it does.

    How long did you own it before it did this? And how long did this fix last. I have a Costco Silverton 620 I've cooked about a dozen meals on it and it is squealing

    • @BubbasWorkbench
      @BubbasWorkbench  4 года назад +4

      It was somewhere between 5 and 6 years before it started squealing. The fix has lasted over 2 years and counting. I use my traeger 2 to 3 times a week.
