1974 seems a little late; Folkways released “As I Roved Out” in 1960 - bafflingly crediting this to Elizabeth Cronin on the tracklist , but correctly attributed to Ennis in the liner notes. Jean Ritchie and George Pickow traveled to Ireland and England in the early-to-mid-fifties, I think.
I have a feeling Jean Ritchie recorded this, as there are photos of Ennis singing while playing as she records. Nevertheless, always loved the lilting Ennis does with his falsetto. A lovely, earthly authentic hearken back to the days of the old folk.
