Common automatic safety feature part on engines, kettles, coffee pots, electric pots, boilers, tanks, hot water heaters, space heaters, radiators, distillers, cookers, ranges, ovens etc.
Absolutely a perfect video. The amount of information in the time frame was excellent. Well done sir well done.
Thank you very much!
Very helpful background knowledge. I have thermostat problems and I don't like to start the repair process without understanding. Thanks!
You are most welcome!
Always wondered what the inside of one of these looked like in real life. Generally NTC's & PTC's are the problem with many different appliances that have heating issues ie Dryer (not drying), Washing Machine (not heating the water) & Cooker (not doing anything in a specific area ie bottom or top oven). People go off and buy a heater when in fact its the heaters NTC that's at fault.
Informative video. Good Job.
When looking for àdd the temp you need in both in F. And C.
NO= (Normally Open)
NC = (Normally Closed)
Great video!!
Cool, thanks
I am electrical engineer myself and I found your video great, especially when you explain the internal of the thermal cutoff. I probably have a problem with that on a heater baseboard, since this stuff is mechanical I guess it will not last forever.
Cheers, mate!
For anyone that has a water cooler with hot water that doesn't heat anymore....these are at fault 99% of the time and the heating elements rarely go bad.
Great info thank you sir many blessings
I’m familiar with these in my coffee machines I repair for work I’ve opened one and reversed the button so it supplies power at the temp the button was made for I was trying to show a friend how they work and I didn’t have one on hand so I tried too google the internals and nothing not one picture but I found your video lol 👍🏻
Cheers, mate, thanks for watching!
Now I know what the problem is on my broken sandwich toaster.
I would fix it, but the misses wants me to buy a new one...smh.
Thanks for sharing !
Thanks for watching
The reason I reversed engineered it was mostly proof of concept for a electric cooling fan for automotive use stick it too the radiator and once it hit that temp it’ll supply the power too the fan it semi worked I had the wrong temperature button it was a 230 degree and my car wouldn’t get no where near that just idling lol so I finally stuck a lighter too it and it opened and worked I’ll get the right button offline too further my experiment lol
Good work, mate! Thanks for watching, too.
Great idea
Looks weird, mine looks like a MOSFET chip but only 2 tiny legs.
How do you reset the manual ones?
They have a small plastic rod in their middle that can be pressed to pop the disk to bend the other way.
Thanks for watching!
Wish I could afford too go too school for engineering ☹️
What catalog were you referencing?
How to repair if my thermalpot boilling.but not hot.. this sensor problem??
It could be water deposits insulating the sensor, like this: ruclips.net/video/uXZn7ejzdgQ/видео.html
@@theoverengineer if that item ok.. have another part make this problem?? Maybe board or what else?
Random question.
What education do you have if any?
Did you go to school? Did you get a degree?
Or are you someone who is kinda like my self and you just tinker until you know?
+NinjaOnANinja All of the above, I did an undergrad in engineering but moved on and now teach entry-level applied math and sciences to upskill young people who are moving from high-school to study and work in trades and technology. I come across a lot of new ways science is applied, always tinkering too, ... many of the junk pieces make it into the classroom, such as in ruclips.net/video/3dmLCcCOc-0/видео.html
theoverengineer That is probably the best way to go about it. Makes you into a true tradesman. One who is truly with the craft and not just about it, which is what most teachers end up becoming. So when I ask them questions, like I have with you, they generally have no idea. And that is because they are teaching out of a book and nothing more.
