      Tablet dashboard @@EverythingSmartHome

@@EverythingSmartHome I'd love to see a few really cool example dashboards created with the sections/drag & drop option. Specifically how can you control a lot of devices on a small tablet screen. Also, best practices or tips/tricks for showing video camera feeds on dashboards. Seems like Home Assistant is missing something to me. Picture and Picture Glance cards are cool, but why no dedicated video feed cards? Maybe I'm missing something 🤔.

@@EverythingSmartHome for me, even as a HomeAssistant user for about two years now, the challenge is always how to combine my missing creativity with good design ideas and best practices that just come from experience (that I am also lacking) and knowledge of modern features. I know that every smart home is differently.
For example, what could be reasons to structure your dashboard in rooms first and functions later and when would it be good to do it the other way round? As I have not yet fully understood the concept of scenes and utilized it to my advantage, maybe examples within a dashboard could give me better ideas how to have a good structure in my own home.
Also, my current dashboard, that is not very sophisticated but just so much work I would not recreate it in seconds, is already very old. What are the current best practices I should now use to re-do a dashboard that is a bit dusted now.

The new heading cards are nice, I was already using markdown cards with template code in them for the same purpose. I wish they would add the option to style sections. I'm still using custom cards to add colored borders around groups of elements, which still requires me to use horizontal or vertical groups.

Hope there will be better user management very soon. I need to be able to enable/disable dashboards and entities for specific user(groups).
    This is so important!

I absolutely love the NYT Games integration - that is absolute perfection :D

Also, the dialogue box showing the entity renames is actually huge - it was a bit of a black box previously until you made the change not knowing exactly what was changing and how

Hope I can reuse sections or whole dashboards inside of other dashboards sometimes in the future. I'm mad of copying them from one dashboard to the other.
I want to be able to create them once and then display them in multiple other dashboards without copying the whole card, so I can change the main one and all others will be changed as well.

Looveeee the idea of the header entities, can't wait to see your new update dashboard video when you make it.
I think I am being dumb, but I don't think i understand the alarm template feature announced?

Why is it that when I update several addons, it leaves a Repair behind for a Restart for each of them? You would think that a single restart would cover them all at once.

HA is far too hard to learn. Have it on a Pi but have given up with it.

I understand, but that is if you are trying to get HA to jump through hoops. I use it as a basic setup where it turns the lights on, garden watering, leak sensors, fans, temperatures and a few other basic features. I do not get into YAML scrips and just use the click to add and then put in a few parameters to get it to do what I need it to. It has been working fine for years. I only do manual updates usually a few weeks after the new monthly release. Install and forget, other than update.

As a software developer, the Wordle Integration has me so conflicted. On the one hand, I don't understand how or why this relates to Home Automation and feel like there are so many better things to do in HA that would be more useful. On the other hand, I get that developers get bored and a little whimsy isn't going to hurt anything.

Nobody is forcing you to use the integration....

I think that's the cool nature of open source is that anyone can contribute things that they personally find fun or useful to work on. Interestingly, the very next comment after yours was someone saying they love this integration 😅

Whoa, everyone calm down. I respect HA's decision to include this in their release. It's not my project, I'm not making the decisions. I love HA and I'm good with their decision. Doesn't change my opinion though (which is just an opinion) that I don't see how this fits into home automation. 🤷‍♂

To me it's more of a surprise of what gets in versus not. There's all manner of quality integrations sitting in HACS, but your Wordle score, that's an official integration now.
