1975 is one of my favorite years of all time!
Honestly, as someone who is still in the process of getting to know this decade better, your analyses of every song in every video gives me a foot to stand on and know which ones I should seek out for, and obviously, I do agree with you on many of the songs I do know already. Great work and I know you'll keep it up!
I'm happy to hear that, thank you!
I hope you enjoy getting to know all these classics :)
@@groot1421 certainly. Looking forward for the day I can recognise every Eurovision entry on the spot 😂
Now that's a winner we can agree on
1975 is a nice year, for what it's worth. There's a solid mix of songs.
My favorite of these is "Era"--it's so groovy and cool, and stands out amongst the crowd.
This is such a strong year to me. Lots of options, yet you did land on my favorite too as your winner. Just something so addicitive about it :)
Certainly some wacky views for this year Groot haha. At least I got my prediction of Switzerland being your winner spot on though!
I'm glad my takes can surprise!
Lovely to watch your opinions of this quite strong edition of the ESC. There are several songs from 1975 that's easy to remember and the musical diversity were great. For me, the turkish entry was such a pleasant surprise to listen to during the watchalong and I think I still will rank it as my number one for now. Totally agree with your points for Sweden. To me, this is Lasse's best song, together with "Silvertråd". Thanks for a great Channel 🎉
Germany with Joy Fleming should have won this year if it were up to me.
Here are my personal votes/rankings, i'am from the Netherlands (Rotterdam city)
12 points: Italy - Wess & Dori Ghezzi - Era
10 points: Luxembourg - Geraldine - Toi
8 points: France - Nicole Rieu - Et bonjour à toi l'artiste
7 points: United Kingdom - The Shadows - Let me be the one
6 points: Israël - Shlomo Artzi - At Va' Ani
5 points: Belgium - Ann Christy - Gelukkig zijn
4 points: Yugoslavia - Pepel in kri - Dan ljubezni
3 points: Finland - Pihasoittajat - Old man fiddle
2 points: Norway - Ellen Nikolyasen - Touch my life (with summer)
1 point : Spain - Sergio & Estibaliz - Tú Volverás
Still amazing to go through a great year this was and we actually agree on our number 1
Great ranking! This isn't one of my favorite years, but I really enjoy a few of the entries! My top three this year are:
3. Norway
2. Italy
1. Turkey
I appreciated your breakdowns of Norway and Switzerland. Very interesting. (Grooty's word of the week is clearly "Lush" 😉) - My top 3 are NL, Germany and Italy - Putting NL at 13th is courting controversy, with me at least. Still, you do you! - Why do I rate Ding-a-Dong? - Because it talks of something fundamental. With the inevitable prospect of our own mortality we look to things to give our existance meaning. The most potent distraction is the pursuit of love. When that fails we can look to the wonder of nature, or the consolation of money to comfort us. The lyrics bring all this together and the solace within the musical movements and the warm harmonies create a depth under the surface froth of the lead vocal and the performance. I find this to be one of the most touching and resonant songs about the human condition ever to grace Eurovision. It makes me sad, but it also proffers a sense of resolution.
I really try my hardest to vary my vocabulary but I guess it's to be expected that the same words appear in a few comments considering every video has over 3000 words written in them!
I'm somewhat disappointed that you didn't note my clear bias for songs performed by women this year since this topic was brought up a few videos back ;)
Thank you for sharing your thoughts as always!
@@groot1421 I only bring "lush" up because it is something that plagues me when editing my reviews. I find myself over-using an adjective in a set of pieces and then try to find alternatives and often lose my flow! - Your redressing of the female balance is duly noted.👍 However, one swallow doesn't make a summer.
@alipanroosendaal9503 I think you need to experience a Swedish summer before claiming that...

Oooh My favourite this year is Luxembourg with Toi :3 Love the weird and brave progressiveness in this song haha
Well, this has to be the ranking I disagree the most with you, but again, 1975 is quite a strong year and I really love some of the songs. I understood your point of view of your bottom, even if Spanish being that low hurted me a little. My top 5 is:
5. Portugal
4. Spain
3. Germany
2. Israel
1. Italy
Very anonymous year for me. Quite significantly weaker than the year before. But there are some gems here too like Norway, Turkey, Germany, Sweden, and Italy. Iirc I didn't even vote for Switzerland 😅
My Top 5: Monaco, Ireland, Ialy, Netherlands, U.k.
I'd struggle to put any of these in my top 100 Eurovision songs.
I'm probably the same...
