The teaching method you use is very practical and functional. This short video format showing the whole process in key elements is perfect to learn and it takes a good discussion and knowledge to know what or not to show. Incredible work.
Hey Andrew I think this short format tutorials are great for people like me that has finished the beginner series, people like kinda know the shortcuts, interface and which modifier is which etc. and doesn't want to go over them again in every tutorial. The fact that this guy has been working with Blender for years and still discovering new tools just shows how deep this software is. I don't think a single person can know 100% of everything Blender is capable of
beside being a good tutorial, I also find this type of video more entertaining and less of a lecture, so if I don't feel like learning I can just watch and get entertained while also learn new things
I’m learning animation for my company and this format of tutorial is the best I’ve seen so far. Yes I do love long videos that dig in on every detail but I don’t have the time for it. I just learned so much in 20 mins
OMG ... I use blender everyday, but mostly for technical design. All I need to know is extrusion and spinning, just creating shapes and measurements, according to technical specifications. But what this guy is doing .. it is another level. Propably something I will not dare to achieve. Truly amazing stuff. ... Blender Guru : I take my hat off for you. Also for the dutch guy, who made the program: For a freeware program like this ... I think it could beat any competition. Thank you, for this amazing piece of software, and the effort to bring us something so beautifull, for free. I still cannot wrap my head around it. Oh .. by the way: I just installed Hitfilm Express. It is a movie editor that allows you to import 3D object models, into a movie. Another piece of great 'freeware' software. Geesh .. where are these great people coming from ??

If it's not to much work, and you recorded most of the progress. Why not make two? An in-depth for beginners that might want to see the modelling and pick up stuff as they go. Then a condensed version like this one for intermediate users that might just want to pick up things like the Simplify trick. BTW, Focal length is in millimeters. It says that in the drop-down menu to the right and also it's corresponds to real world cameras on the lens (in millimeters). If you have a camera near by check the lens, it's often printed on it what focal length it is. It can say things like 1.7/50 then 50 is 50mm focal length. Just some side note info, but I am into analog cameras. There's a neat add-on for Blender called *Real Camera* where you get some familiar settings to an analog/digital real world camera.
he stated himself that every tutorial he makes, he records at least five times. its not that easy to make a good tutorial and tomake two tutorials, one advanced and one simple, just wouldnt be worth it.
I appreciate the suggestion, but as Clushyy said, these take forever to make. And I already struggle with regular uploading, so if I had to do both maybe you'd only see like 3 tutorials a year :P
In this case I suggest you stick with this short format, it's much better since most people, who watch videos like this, are doing so specifically for tips and tools and staff, not a full explanation on how to make a cylinder or something. And for complete beginners you can always say: "Hey, check out my Beginner Tutorial playlist!" (or whatever it's called).
If someone is here from the future and saw this video for the first time, no he has not bought views but forgot about comments shenanigans, he was hacked and his video just went back up!
This is just plain amazing and i have to add that this isnt just something you can quickly learn after one tutorial, ive used blender for about a year doing courses and still dont know all of the keybinds and whatnot thats involved in this process. This guy is an extremely talented artist who also has taken tons of time to learn this art.
I continually remind myself he's got 15 years with this software, so I don't beat myself up too bad. He even says, repeatedly, that some things he's never used/touched/understood before, so we can take comfort in that. ("Speaker" object, what the heck?)
I've seen this tutorial a year or more ago and specifically searched for it last night. I think some people misunderstand that they can make this is 20 minutes. All the tips to create this project is explained in 20 minutes and I love this format. Of course it helps if you have some basics down in Blender. Good stuff.
I literally have downloaded blender and your video appeared an hour later. While I have a lot to learn before I can start this, this video has made me excited to what I can learn!
FSpy is amazing! As a beginner, I've tried to model a (simple) building from a photograph, and nothing lined up at first. Applying the camera settings output by FSpy (via the Blender plugin), and suddenly, everything worked right out of the box, just like in this amazing tutorial. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Only in the US and cohorts, in Europe they are usually called metro in variety of languages including Russian (courtesy of the Parisian metro being one of the first). In the UK it is just "the tube" colloquially or "underground" officially. Depending on world influence due to colonisation it is similar around the globe.
i am a graphics person but know nothing about music softwares and i have so much appreciation for the depth that goes into creating and mastering sound. my best friend is a music producer/engineer and we have been wanting to try and work together in something like that.
I like the format, but I didn’t dislike the old format. I’m the type that appreciates a long video that explains everything in detail because when it’s shortened, it makes room for me to make a mistake that I don’t know how to solve. Maybe if you stick with a short video format, you could create a second channel that has the entire video posted?
But that would means 2 videos for the same tutorial, equals more work for him, equals less tutorials. And longer tutorials are boring or you never have time to watch them all. I'd rather stick with this format, if some detail is unclear, make your own research or ask about it in the comments. Remember guys, it's both free and great tutorials so don't ask too much
I think you're right, when I saw it I thought it was a Japanese subway too. Japanese public building code requires a lower railing for elderly Japanese who have a lower average height, so it results in a distinctive double railing. White mosaic + the checker pattern is really common too in Japanese subways. I don't know where else in the world has this combination, so I think it's pretty safe to say this is somewhere in Japan, probably Tokyo.
Great video, love the simplicity and pacing of the tutorial. One question, we don't really have 'that guy' that does good, structured physics tutorials in Blender. I know you may be on more of the side of the visual aspect of tutorials, but I would love to see you teach the community about the fracture, molecular and weight brush modifiers/tools. I, and many others would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!
Jaden Williams it would definitely be useful for noobs like me to learn everything there is to learn when using a program that’s ridiculously different from maya.
You blow me away. You are a true artist with the added advantage of massive intellect. I have been an amateur artist for fifty years plus. This is next-level stuff, and I am hoping old dogs can still learn new tricks. I will keep watching. Thanks. (BTW I am not groveling, just inspired.)
I love everyone and anyone who puts out this kind of informative content, so thank you. As for the format, I think a great balance is to have both. You can have the entire, uncut, unsped up video available in all its multi-hour glory, then edit it down like you did with this one and release it as a separate video. You could title them similarly too. Like "How to _______, the long cut" and "How to _______, the short cut". Something like that.
I started watching your beginner videos and I’m kinda skipping around to see all the possibilities. This is a real head opener I feel my brain cells expanding as I watch your videos. Thanks for the content and hard work. Keep it up.
This was awesome. But with your tutorials it's something I always come back to when I am skilled enough to continue the tutorial. I take the tutorial as a benchmark of what I have learnt. Thank you, Andrew!

This Format is Solid.
Learned more in 20 mins than I did in 2 hours using other tutorial videos.
6 out of 5 stars.
Instant sub.
Had no idea how to use blender efficiently at all, watched this video, now I feel like an expert! Nice job!
The teaching method you use is very practical and functional. This short video format showing the whole process in key elements is perfect to learn and it takes a good discussion and knowledge to know what or not to show. Incredible work.
I have never heard anything about blender or this style of art/photography or however you wanna put it, but wow. This is amazing..
Hey Andrew I think this short format tutorials are great for people like me that has finished the beginner series, people like kinda know the shortcuts, interface and which modifier is which etc. and doesn't want to go over them again in every tutorial. I'm going to shamelessly want more of these in future please :)
Sincerely,
-a graphic design undergrad who is shaping his career based only on your tutorials
I'm always amazed by seeing something that is artificial but looks so realistic 😱
are you amazed by the human being? lol
zuck
ABSOLUTELY!!!!
Same
All thanks to math, physics and computer science.....computer graphic algorithms mimic the real world (today to almost perfection) with reflections, ray tracing, shadows, multiple light sources, textures, materials, colors, opacity, geometry of course., etc etc...everything is taken into account during rendering....anyhow i share the same feeling....
The fact that this guy has been working with Blender for years and still discovering new tools just shows how deep this software is. I don't think a single person can know 100% of everything Blender is capable of
how about developers of Blender?
RUclips is really encouraging me to follow the Blender Guru and his wisdom 😌
I think this is a pretty good format, it's nice having all the juicy bits of info singled out
beside being a good tutorial, I also find this type of video more entertaining and less of a lecture, so if I don't feel like learning I can just watch and get entertained while also learn new things
I’m learning animation for my company and this format of tutorial is the best I’ve seen so far. Yes I do love long videos that dig in on every detail but I don’t have the time for it. I just learned so much in 20 mins
I have absolutely zero idea what I’ve just watched, but it’s very cool
I agree 100%, blind people ARE annoying to step on.
Yeah...my day is ruined every time it happens....damn blind people
They can't even read this so they won't be offended ;)
So annoying I hate it

There's actually technology that allows them to use the internet, sooo..... don't assume anything.
OMG ... I use blender everyday, but mostly for technical design.
All I need to know is extrusion and spinning, just creating shapes and measurements,
according to technical specifications.
But what this guy is doing .. it is another level. Propably something I will not dare
to achieve. Truly amazing stuff.
...
Blender Guru : I take my hat off for you.
Also for the dutch guy, who made the program:
For a freeware program like this ... I think it could beat any competition.
Thank you, for this amazing piece of software, and the effort to bring us
something so beautifull, for free.
I still cannot wrap my head around it.
Oh .. by the way:
I just installed Hitfilm Express.
It is a movie editor that allows you to import 3D object models, into a movie.
Another piece of great 'freeware' software.
Geesh .. where are these great people coming from ??
I remember then 2 years ago I saw it and think myself "what the hell is going on here? is it even possible?"
today, as a modeler with 8 months of experience, I understand how easy it is, Blender Guru makes hard things easier
I wanna get better at this as a hobby. What exercises can I do to keep improving? Just modeling stuff by hand?
@@KillerKyuubi Practice + study of the experience of the masters. If you start modeling without an example, you will only sustain your mistakes.
Watching this in 2024 it still far better than some of these other youtube tutorials 👍🏻👍🏻
I honestly thought the opening video WAS THE REFERENCE

It isn't?
@@martaykoalas1748 He **thought**, read again.
I've never heard of blender and I don't know how I ended up here but this is crazy. Also a good tutorial. I'm not even interested in using blender and I still watched the majority of this video...
You should use it if you ever feel like designing. It’s on par with the best 3D programs in the world even though its completely free
Yeah man it looks really powerful. I shoot a lot of films and it looks like it could be used for some location establishing shots that aren't real locations
I should have read the comments first.... I said almost the exact same thing!
he stated himself that every tutorial he makes, he records at least five times. its not that easy to make a good tutorial and tomake two tutorials, one advanced and one simple, just wouldnt be worth it.
As a novice, I agree with this. The existing tutorials give plenty of detail for getting started.
*Him every 5 sec*
I mean its not hard just takes time...

I've literally never used or even seen blender but I watched your whole video. So good job.
I've seen this tutorial a year or more ago and specifically searched for it last night. I think some people misunderstand that they can make this is 20 minutes. All the tips to create this project is explained in 20 minutes and I love this format. Of course it helps if you have some basics down in Blender.
Good stuff.
I mean, the title kinda says that though... but it's still probably possible for a freak of nature to pull it off in 20mins though!
Have my thumbs up for zdychająca świetlówka in 14:10
hahahaha I loved that part. It means "Dying lightbulb" but in a way you'd talk about an animal.

I’m not a graphic guy, I’m an audio guy. I loved watching this. Great format and well done video.
i am a graphics person but know nothing about music softwares and i have so much appreciation for the depth that goes into creating and mastering sound. my best friend is a music producer/engineer and we have been wanting to try and work together in something like that.

I like the format, but I didn’t dislike the old format. I’m the type that appreciates a long video that explains everything in detail because when it’s shortened, it makes room for me to make a mistake that I don’t know how to solve. Maybe if you stick with a short video format, you could create a second channel that has the entire video posted?
absolutely agree..
I agree with this too!
agreed
But that would means 2 videos for the same tutorial, equals more work for him, equals less tutorials. And longer tutorials are boring or you never have time to watch them all. I'd rather stick with this format, if some detail is unclear, make your own research or ask about it in the comments. Remember guys, it's both free and great tutorials so don't ask too much
I follow the entire tutorials, even the 2 hour ones
This is the most useful tutorial I've ever seen. You have to make more videos like this!
Innovative, creative, excellent format. You've just invented something new. Keep it up!
It looks like a Japanese subway.
I'm Japanese ,so I often see this kind of subways.
Blender Guru's work was very good!
I hope he's glad to see your post!
Japanese subway is creepy but clean ? I doubt one can live there at night alone if flickering started to happen like in blender.
It looks like a subway
Great video, love the simplicity and pacing of the tutorial. One question, we don't really have 'that guy' that does good, structured physics tutorials in Blender. I know you may be on more of the side of the visual aspect of tutorials, but I would love to see you teach the community about the fracture, molecular and weight brush modifiers/tools. I, and many others would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!
Jaden Williams it would definitely be useful for noobs like me to learn everything there is to learn when using a program that’s ridiculously different from maya.

Something like that.
i dont know how i ended up here but this was a great video
I started watching your beginner videos and I’m kinda skipping around to see all the possibilities. This is a real head opener I feel my brain cells expanding as I watch your videos. Thanks for the content and hard work. Keep it up.
