@@alkohallick2901 true.... But it's most of a butterfly effect for him. He just so happen to be the one who came across Anthony. Anthony wanted to be in radio before he met Opie he just happen to put all his eggs into the Opie OJ Simpson parody song basket. And he made it. Had he not, he would have kept going. He would have gotten onto radio. Maybe not as big but he would have been fine.
Without Opie there is no show, is such a weak argument. Had Ant and Jim split with him earlier, they'd still be on top right now. Opie is garbage. His show pre Anthony sucked. The moment Ant was gone, Opie and Jim show sank. It got worse with Jim leaving. And his show post Jim, with Carl and the not funny black guy, is horrible!!!!!! Unlistenable.
So why even say... Without Opie. It's so dumb and can be easily argued. Ant was trying his best to get into the business and he was so good, he made someone like Opie sound good. Imagine if he had gotten with a dj who was actually good from beginning??? So stfu fatman

I’m only a year in to finding out about the o&a show, and I am sorry I didn’t know about it till now. My question is why is opie hated so much? Granted I’m new to all these clips of comedy gold. I just don’t understand why opie is hated so much

Just keep listening and you will find the answer to your question. Oh kemosabe, I remember being in your shoes, and wondering what the anti Opie comments were all about.
I initially defended him, and assumed it was simply a troll festival. Then one day, as your listening and enjoying comedic radio, opie's voice and zero contribution will set in.
You will begin to notice those comments in each clip actually make sense. I have nothing personally against the guy, but he isn't funny, insightful, and lacks any awareness of his douche chill behavior. He was never authentic, and tried so hard to be the cool frat boy who pretends he cares about nothing. The only one of the three who went to college, yet comes off functionally retarded when it came to knowledge or having his own opinion.
He could dish out abuse and insults, but he could not take it. They weren't allowed to call out his horrific reading skills. He obsessed over howard stern, and in reality had plenty in common with stern. He would ruin funny by taking idiotic calls and would intentionally make the comics weight in the back, to flex his muscle so they knew not to go after him with jokes. Every big comic he made wait. Burr, Louis CK, Dipaolo, Patrice, Vos, Bobby Kelly. Made them all wait and they all secretly hated him but kept quiet because they loved talking with Norton n anythin

I know you're trolling, it's so obvious. You're just a troll attempting to stir the pot and get people angry for no reason. You know what? Greg Hughes was a professional broadcaster for 30 years. You don't get to be that without being good, and having great material. You forget, but Greg steered the ship, and pointed it in the right direction. Being the captain is hard, you steer the ship the best way you know how. Sometimes it's smooth and sometimes you hit the rocks, in the mean time you take your pleasures where you can.
