Just fixed the failing actuator on my LR4 using the Ford Fiesta part from eBay for about $15 and change. Getting the little black clip off the end of the actuator plunger was a bit tricky as I was afraid of breaking it. Otherwise a simple job and a money saver over buying the entire actuator in the housing.

Same with D3 injectors here in Australia $800 each. Ford Territory diesel uses same engine (bar sump) and Ford sells the injectors for $400 each. But I can get em in UK way cheaper again. 👍
And the TDV6 oil pump housing, couldn't believe it when the local Ford dealer quoted me about $140 for the housing ( less than half of the price from LR ) when I was doing the timing belt.
Couldn't throw the money at him fast enough.

Really handy video - thanks for sharing. Do you have a video on issues with the lower tailgate release please. My disco 4 has developed a delay from when I press the button to when it releases the tailgate - sure it's about to freeze completely 😞

Hi Simon/Tyler I love your videos as they informative and funny. I would like to get your assistance with identifying a connector that is under the front left wheel arch of D4 2010 V8 HSE. I have a pic of the connector which seems to have one end where wire is cut off.Thanks

Cracked it again Simon, like the D3 rear upper tailgate switch from the Fiesta. Must be lots of other stuff like that. I remember way back that Early Discovery 1 rear light lenses were the same as Austin Maestro Vans. 👍 Non Stick Nick

Have to say how it shows up how Landrover tear up their customers. Makes me question all their prices. Shame on them.

Thank you so much for this, it saved me from having to wait for ordered parts. A Ford Crown Victoria actuator gets the job done as well with a few minor modifications. Part number 5140832, 5W1Z-54218A42-AA

Hi Simon, I have a 2014 FL2 and my tailgate release appeared to have failed but thankfully, I can still open it via the keyfob. I need to get the fault fixed urgently as I have a dog cage in the boot and am concerned if it completely fails, I will have a trapped dog!!
Will the FoMoCo also be the correct part to get for my FL? I do know these damn things are a common fault with LR's. Thoughts plse
Hi - yes if it still works from the fob / dash you are ok
It is just the rear switch that fails - this is common

Hello Sir, i have bought used Range Rover Autobiography 2011 V8 5.0 petrol. But both side companion view cameras are not working. Kindly help me with the troubleshooting. Also LHS side vjew mirror folding mechanism is broken.
Hi - this is interesting ! i think you will need to get a wiring diagram and check for power at both cameras initially. It may be the problem with the fold could be linked to the camera problem on the one side
When I buy a disco 3 in the next 2 weeks imma order one and replace it for the sake of 10 pounds peace of mind

Great vid... but you are comparing a genuine LR Part £80 with a cheap Chinese aftermarket part. You can of course buy a cheap Chinese copy LR part for the same price complete..
