Them trying to be quiet while also freaking out is hilarious
seeing these two go wild when reacting to nominations and wins is probably the best part of awards season
Such a fun and honest love of film and film awards
In my opinion it is the awards! But they are a close second!
My wife and I love it 😂
the only thing better than this is when we get to positively freak out for the right reasons
I don't know if the twins are gay or not but they sure do use a lot of slurs that gays use towards each other like calling each other bitches. LOL. The twins are hilarious and must have drove their parents crazy.
The stark contrast between Brian Tyree Henry getting in and Decision to Leave getting snubbed is why I love awards season.
Decision to Leave was insufferable.
@@moondawwg no
@@moondawwg you good bro?
the lord giveth (brian nom) and the lord taketh (decision snub)
new precursor: if youre an actor in your late 80s and not nominated anywhere else and youre in a well known director's film about their childhood in a supporting role and your name starts with "Jud-", you have a good chance at an oscar nomination
Who's the other one?
@@wutangmuslin Judi Dench, Belfast.
So one day Judd Nelson's gonna have a chance
Can’t wait for the Julie Andrews nomination for playing Christopher Nolan’s Grandma for 12 seconds.
@@Evgeniyashcherba Judge Reinhold too.
Trivia about 2023 Oscar’s-
First year since 1934 where all the nominees for best actor are first time nominees
First time since 1977 where two movies got 4 acting nominations
First time since 1991 where two movies got double acting nominations
John Williams is the oldest nominee ever, first to be nominated in 7 different decades
Andrea riseborough got no major precursor nominations
Steven Spielberg ties with William Wyler with 13 best picture nominations
The first year since 1936 to have 16/20 first time nominees
women talking will be the second adaptred screenplay winner with only 2 nominations, after sling blade
Wyler is such an influence on Spielberg (love how he talked about him in Netflix’s Five Came Back) so that’s awesome they now both share a record together!
Great trivia. My fave take away is Judd Hirsch breaking the 41 year old record held by Henry Fonda. Fonda has a 41 year gap between his 1st and 2nd acting nominations (1940 - 1981). Judd now breaks it with a 42 year gap - 1980 for Ordinary People and 2022 for The Fablemans.
According to The Irish Times, this is also the most nominations for Irish actors and creators EVER, with 14 cumulative nominations.
Also, The Banshees of Inisherin is now the most nominated Irish film ever, with 8 nominations (Beating Belfast and In the Name of the Father)
Just thought that was kind of fun to note!
You forgot that Michelle Yeoh is the first Asian performer to be nominated for Best Actress, but this is qualified by the fact that Merle Oberon who was part south Asian was nominated previously.
First year since 1982 that the two highest grossing movies of the year got best picture nominations
As soon as the nominees for Best Actress were revealed, I knew your reactions would be GOLDEN. And they did not disappoint.
What’s the actress that they kept mentioning ? Hard to understand the name they’re saying
@@someoneelse9680 Danielle Deadwyler for Till.
I'm so happy that Stephanie Hsu and Brian Tyree Henry got nominated, but Danielle Deadwyler getting snubbed is heartbreaking.
And Judd Hirsch. He was so excellent in The Fabelmans, a true Hollywood gem
Uh-greed! Deadwyler getting in would've made the above the line nominations pretty much perfect.
I wonder what the hell happened? I guess she just got kicked out by the strange last minute To Leslie campaign, but it didn't deserve to get booted before Ana de Armas or Michelle Williams
Heartbreaking is the correct word. Her performance broke my heart. It almost makes me want to vomit that she's not nominated.
@@dariussalepetru6770 yeah Judd is great but he was only in the movie for like 5 seconds… it was more of a cameo than a supporting performance.
The second I watched those nominations, I couldn’t wait for these reactions 😁

Your reactions to the Decision to Leave and Danielle Deadwyler snub were so relatable and heartbreaking, you guys are hilarious though!
The DTL snub reaction was hilarious.
Totally agree
Oscar Expert meltdown over DTL snub was fucking hilarious 😂
they're so genuine for this!
You 2 “being quiet” was hysterical
lol!
"where is she? send out the fucking search party" i feel so bad for laughing 😭
Danielle Deadwyller's snub is just criminal...
I gree.. she is the best in this year.. she was must wiiin oscar... others take her place
I am just so thrilled that Paul Mescal & Women Talking got their nominations.
Me too they should have gotten more nominations
Oscar Expert got snubbed for best sound
“Wait! What?! I didn’t figure it out just yet.” 😂😂
I was *almost* as excited to see your reactions to the nominations as I was to hear the nominations themselves 😆
Oscar nominations always pleasantly surprise me, super happy with the Ruben Ostlund, Bryan Tyree Henry, and Paul Mescal picks
And Women Talking and Triangle of Sadness
Love these nominations. So happy for Risebourough and Mescal. So happy Jamie Lee has her Oscar nomination. So happy.
Andrea Riseborough getting in was unexpected but I'm absolutely welcomed by that. I've one of few people who got the chance to see To Leslie in a screening few months ago and Andrea absolutely blew me away, she deserves the nomination. Anyone who throw shit at her nomination should watch To Leslie
Michelle Williams over Deadwyler or Robbie is scandalous. Judd Herschel nomination also ridiculous, he's in the movie for few minutes.
No Danielle Deadwyler and no Top Gun for cinematography are the biggest snubs for me
literally flabbergasted.
I'm honestly getting tired of people complaining about Ana de Armas - regardless of what people thought of her or the movie, she still got nominated for Golden Globes, Sag, Bafta and now Oscars - that deserves respect.
Yes true - she did get a lot of noms
You should always NOT be in your house for future reactions. The inconsistent attempts to modulate your voices and repress screaming. GOLD
This is a delightful mixture of Oscar reaction and demon exorcism.
I just went from John Campea saying “there weren’t any surprises at the Oscars this year” to this-lol
Welcome back to the Oscar Expert Show! On today's programming, incoherent screaming with a chance of knee slapping
I've only gotten into watching film this year, trying to navigate this awards season is super complicated. Thanks for making it digestible and entertaining, y'all are awesome
You are in for a lifetime of joy! Film is such a special way of telling stories! Learning about the great directors through their work is a great way to explore. I love to see these young guys so excited about film! It gives me hope that film will stick around as an art form with a younger audience.
@@brendanbrown8704 as a 17 year old, I can promise you that there are people my age who are passionate and excited about film!
This is the second year in a row in Best Actress where someone got snubbed despite having every precursor and someone else got nominated off of nothing
Penelope did win Best Actress out ot Venice. She had a little something going on there unlike Andrea here. This was really out of nothing.
Penelope Cruz won Venice, Andrea Riseborough came out of nowhere until a bunch of celebrities championing her for an Oscar nom led by Kate Winslet and Gwyneth Paltrow
same happend with Timothée Chalamet for (Beautiful Boy 2018)
@ - cam It’s happened more often than you’d think. Caitriona Balfe (Belfast), Amy Adams (Arrival), Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler), Emma Thompson (Saving Mr. Banks), Tom Hanks (Captain Phillips), and a few others
@@seankoontz4235 it’s honestly unfair, like just imagine the hope they have then crushed just like that
Candy Clark famously paid for her own trade paper ads back in 1974 to bring attention to her role in AMERICAN GRAFFITI. She was successful and was nominated. Andrea Riseboroughs nomination is the 2023 equivalent
The Oscar Expert gave an oscar worthy performance for the Decision to Leave snub with Brother Bro given an equally impressive supporting performance as the scared brother.
For all the talk that the Oscars are too arthouse now, or too eager to be cool/populist, these nominations are a pretty nice balance. On the one hand, Wakanda Forever and Top Gun and Elvis could all walk away with multiple wins, including an acting win for Bassett. If Butler doesn't win, it's probably going to Fraser, who helmed arguably the most popular straight-ahead drama of the year. The Fabelmans did well. On the other hand, nominations for Aftersun, Causeway, and To Leslie, plus Pic/Director love for Triangle of Sadness. And the abundance for Everything Everywhere, the rare movie that manages to marry populist support and arthouse pluck, to top it all off. One could even love these nominations, if it didn't involve the absolute shut-out for Nope, Till, Woman King...
Really hoping Butler wins as he worked his butt off and really deserves it...but it will be close
Stephanie Hsu and Paul Mescal is easily the biggest surprise for me. They both gave amazing performances. Amazing video as always 👍
Me too 💞
I was rooting for Mescal, it was unlikely but possible. The biggest shock and unprecedented is andrea riseborough! A nomination for a spirit award, no sag, golden globe, bafta, no critics choice. Nothing. A campaign for 2 weeks by A listers. This was historic. My jaw was on the floor. The movie made 23 thousand dollars or something like that. A game changer. What a day for her.
@@johntheX He was nominated at BAFTA and Critics Choice
@@dariussalepetru6770 I mentioned Andrea not Paul Mescal
Not like he needs an Oscar or any award for that matter, but if I was Park Chan-wook I would need an apology email from every Academy member by Friday.
No sound? Or is it just me?
*edit* I came back 15 minutes later and the sound is back ❤
Just you
Till, The Woman King, Danielle Deadwyler, and Viola Davis were snubbed - hard! Can't believe who they chose instead. Hope Michelle Yeoh wins.
Academy send danielle deadwelyer and viola out becase they make move about ( slavery ).. and they are black.. deadweyler was greaat greatttt and deserve win oscar no dought 💔
I so shocked she lose nom.
That Decision to Leave snub was awful
Yes I take out Close for Decision to Leave
Danielle Deadwyler, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, and Diego Calva not getting nominated hurt pretty bad.
Viola davis and danielle Deadwyler
Calva only got Comedy Golden Globe, I wasn’t expecting him
Not surprised. Babylon is trash.
Gold Derby wanted Babylon to fail so badly
Calva didn’t really have a chance, and Robbie and Davis were on the fence. Deadwyler though I thought was a lock when the trailer came out. I’m genuinely stunned by that.
Ngl I was legit upset that Danielle Deadwyler got snubbed. Michelle Williams was such a safe choice🤦🏽♂️. They could’ve swapped them two and these Oscar noms would’ve been perfect.
Great reaction. I’m sad about Margot Robbie not getting nominated, but she’s young and she’ll have more chances. Happy with most the best picture nominees and really happy Paul Mescal got in for best actor.
She will not get nominated until she stops playing Harley Queen. Her two nominated roles were the ones in which she was not Haley.
Yeah I don't think this was Margot's year - there will be more deserving roles in the future.
@@manantial773 She’s been nominated before and will be again. She’s was nominated while she was Harley, but Babylon was too divisive
She was terrible. No nuance, no layers, just that damn accent, which she uses in all her American roles. How I wish Emma Stone had been available for this film. She would have been phenomenal.
Your reactions to this is what I was waiting all awards season for, you guys never ever disappoint.
This video is always the highlight of awards season for me! Best reactions ever.
Rip Babylon I really wanted that movie to get like 5+ noms
Not even one acting nom😭
@David Lynch's Cow oh yeah, Calva should have gotten something
I'm so happy with so many of these including EEAAO getting so many nominations, Paul Mescal, Brendan Fraser, Cate Blanchett, Michelle Yeoh, Jamie Lee Curtis, Stephanie Hsu, Ke Huy Quan, etc. I'm also happy that Empire of Light is nominated for cinematography and was pleasantly surprised that EO got a nomination as well!
It’s totally winning best picture
Yeah I don’t understand the Empire of Light cinematography slander
I don’t care how good Andrea Riseborough is in that f movie but this isn’t how you play the game, and knocking off Danielle Deadwyler? 🤬
Not a big fan of EEAAO. Hoping to see Banshees or Tar win best picture/director. That would be awesome.
You wish. Ahahah
Tàr is the best reviewed film of all the nominees, and with timely and original screenplay concept, real-time editing feel, and the best lead performance of any actor/actress this year I’m hoping the Academy member put on their big boy/girl pants and vote it BP.
@@rhythmoriented no. Look at the power of the dog
@@itsbeyondme5560 the Banshees of Boredom would be a much better analogy. Like TPOD it’s his year’s “why is praise being heaped upon this painful experience?” film.
BARDO!!!!!! Glad there’s some love for the cinematography at least from you guys
Of all the Decision to Leave snub reactions, this one has to be, as per usual, the best. "I will not fucking stand for this bullshit!" LMAO.
Lmao!! My boyfriend was yelling at me for freaking out this morning when I woke up to the noninees 😂😂 Glad I’m not alone 😭😭
The pure, raw, visceral reaction from these guys is fun to watch but it makes my anxiety levels go through the roof!
It’s crazy how the two black women heavily predicted to be in Best Actress (obviously not to win) were snubbed like wow. I can see Viola Davis but DANIELLE?! That was a sure pick for almost everyone and just nothing. That’s crazy and now I’m scared of if they’ll let Michelle Yeoh even win.
Academy rasict send deadwyler and viola out.. becase they make film about slavery💔
Danielle Deadwyler is the biggest snub she's the best actress this year
I don't understand the love for Triangle of Sadness.
Same.
Been following you guys for like 3-4 years now since Parasite era, and ugh you both are just so entertaining and amazing, i fucking love your jumping excitement! I get the same way too during the oscars!
I got obsessed with Oscar thanks to these guys as I accidentally watched one of their videos June last year. I’ve been waiting for this moment! I’m so glad to finally join the bandwagon and can’t wait for the award day!
Danielle Deadwyler's snub was painful to watch !!!!!
Really sad snubbed
TopGun for Cinematography
Decision to leave for International feature....
Me too
Same Cinematography for Batman
Paul Mescal totally deserved the Oscar nomination. He was so incredible in Aftersun.
I've been hitting refresh all morning just to see your reaction to the Andrea Riseborough nod. I was not disappointed.
Top Gun crew now we rise
In your face boys !!! ANA DE ARMAS! Oscar nominee !!!!!!!!!!💅💅💅💅💅💅
Glad she got nominated over Margot Robbie
Announcers: And the nominees ar-
Oscar Expert: OH MY GOD!!!!! WHAT!!!!!!!
Top Gun Maverick getting best adapted screenplay actually gave me such joy
I don’t think it got screenplay anywhere? Impressive
It confused me that they loved the story rather than the cinematography 😵
Im so happy for All quiet on the Western Front. I hope it win at least best International film.
And Cinematography like Roma did
It got nominated for 'Best Picture', it's surely winning best foreign film Oscar.
@@everythingisawesome2903 sadly. I wanted Argentina 1985 to win.
So happy for Hsu and Mescal
andrea getting nominated is not "grassroots" its white hollywood millionaires rallying together like its high school. best actress couldve been the most diverse ever
Because a black person?
Decision To Leave is a movie I will never forget ,Tang wei deserves a nomination
Riseborough got in at the expensive of two black actresses lol. Be careful what you wish for Hollywood.
am so happy to se PAUL FREAKIN MESCAL getting nominatd , best new actor of our generation,he is amazing. so deserving. so happy to see this nomination and recognition. greetings from Guatemala.
Do all brothers talk this way to each other: "Tell me what's not in Cinematography - BITCH??" 😂
Top Gun not getting cinematography was confusing as hell. I don't even know what's winning now.
I don't want to toot my own horn regarding John Williams, but... I've been saying for months now that there was never any chance the Oscars snub him.
The amount of chaotic energy in the thumbnail kinda tells you everything lol
Danielle being snubbed is the heartbreak of this year
Yes, she should be in winning conveesation, but best actress is always whiteeeeee
At least we have the first asian best actress nominee
100% worst snub. what a travesty
Rasict academy..all know deadwyler was great..
The Danielle Deadwyler snub will go down in History. It shows that the acting category is all about campaigns and not the actual performance. Heartbroken that her performance will not get its worth by the future audience.
Andrea riseborough was good in her film
@@singstreetcar5881 i haven't seen To Leslie to be honest. But Danielle has to be in the Top 3. Here she didn't even make it to 5. I loved Michelle Williams work in The fabelsmans and i really wanted her to be nominated but if she was selected at the expense of Daniel than i will not agree with that. Danielle's performance is way better than blonde too tbh.
I was drinking coffee and choked up and almost died when I heard them announce Andrea Riseborough for Best Actress. What a surprise! Congrats to all the nominees.
The editing here is top notch
Really? I couldn't read any of the nominations, except for split seconds here and there. Their reactions without context are incomprehensible.
Top Gun Maverick not getting the noms for best cinematography sucks.
And of course The Batman got snub
Happy to see the Oscars give some love for All Quiet On The Western Front. Also happy for EEAAO, Tar, The Fabelmans, Top Gun Maverick, The Banshees of Inisherin and The Batman.
Biggest cheers:
Paul Mescal
Stephanie Hsu
Brian Tyree Henry
Andrea Riseborough

Triangle Of Sadness in picture which was unexpected
im a simple man, i see the oscar expert upload's a reaction video and i give it a like.
The time of year where Brother Bro forgets about alphabetical order lol
Ana de Armas deserves the nomination. Period.
I don’t care how good you think someone’s performance is,when they’re giving it in a movie that exploits and willfully misrepresents the life and trauma of a real person,a real victim
That’s sick, and it shouldn’t be Oscar nominated, especially over two more deserving black women
Ana de armas is going to hell
So?
Your reaction to the Decision to Leave snub was literally me. 😂
How did Top Gun Maverick miss a cinematography nom?
To make room for Tár ♥️
Looking at the nominees, the cinematographer voters definitely steered towards I guess more "academic" shot movies. Empire of light, tar and bardo. But nominating elvis over top gun is outrageous. I guess these bunch of voters ended up thinking that top gun just put cameras into the plane :P
Michelle Williams woohoo
“Pieces of shits!” Y’all got me dying! Better than any movie that came out last year! Waiting for the knocking on the wall from your Airbnb neighbors 😂
Yooo I can't believe Danielle Deadwyler wasn't nominated , like WHAT?! Also really hyped that Paul Mescal and Stephanie Hsu got nominated!!!!!
Am I the only one who giggles/laughed out loud when at a certain point they said "Well, goodbye Women Talking for Best Picture..." 🤣
A lot of peeps didn’t believe in it :)
His reaction to Decision to Leave being snubbed was 😂😂
They snubbed 2 black actresses for a late-surge white actress who's literally done shit all to campaign herself and her movie until the week before. This makes sense and looks so good.
I LOVE that Brian Tyree Henry is nominated!!!
TÁR- winner of the Golden Frog - got into Cinematography ♥️♥️♥️
Feel like the Andrea Riseborough nom is super important, definitely shaping how people campaign in the future. Also don't understand why anyone would be upset for her using her connections to help herself get in contention, that's literally how studios campaign their films
Well said.b 👏
Yup, and I definitely think it's preferable to the Weinstein-style campaigning of the past
Here is the list of all the time white actors got all together and used their connections to lift a performance from a black actor/actres:
End of the list.
But why deadwyler? Isnt davis not enough?
For me, it's the disparity in the level of campaign effort put in by AR vs other popular contenders like DD and VD. AR was literally no where to be seen other than one Indie nom - she wasn't even in any of the regional film fest circuit. She relied on her peers to do her campaigning for her at the absolute last minute - she herself just did a Q&A here and there. DD and VD at least have been rolling their sleeves up doing grunt campaign work since day 1 - not just for themselves but also for their movies. I'm not questioning her technical merit, but only her campaign efforts. Also optics wise - a black actress who's been working long and hard this season got cut because of her late surge and help by her friends. Not a good look for this year.
So sad for Danielle and Viola... The Andrea scenario was like going into an insane rush to put together in 1 hour and e-mailed your homework before 10:00 pm and fingers crossed to get an A LOL!!
Plus... What the hell is Michelle Williams doing in Lead actress???
Sometimes studios submit performances in different categories to increase their chances of nomination. It's like Rooney Mara being nominated in supporting actress category for Carol back in 2016. It's annoying bc her spot should've gone to Danielle or Viola.
@@aysenursahin9953 yes... Or the Lakeith Stanfield for "supporting" bs in 2021. I don't get it...
That double whammy of Brian Tyree Henry and Judd Hirsch almost gave you an aneurysm.
Crazy: 16 first-time nominees for Acting this year

HOW DO YOU NOT NOMINATE TOP GUN FOR CINEMATOGRAPHY
Danielle and Viola snubbed is insane to me. I don't get it
