When you say email do you mean Apple ID which is an email address you use when creating an Apple ID. When I try and activate it seams I have to use the Apple ID. When I try and activate the phone number which incidentally is verified it doesn't work. Ive waited the 24 hours done all the troubleshooting spent hours with carrier and Apple and now its been escalated by Apple three times and with an Engineer. Its a brand new iPhone 14 Pro and all the IOS is up to date. No joy whatsoever.
@@heartattack60 Apparently there was a problem with my brand new iPhone 14 Pro. They data logged it for 24 hours. Was escalated three times before their engineers got involved behind the scenes. Plus their servers can be very slow and it can take 24 hours. They never really gave a satisfactory reason to me as to why it didn’t work. I told them there are plenty of blogs around with similar reports of the same issues. Hey they are Apple, and just shrugged that point off. In the end it did get sorted and I suspect they hard coded a forced activation at their end for my specific phone number although they would never admit to that. It’s what my carrier said they needed to do right from the day I had problems activating the phone number.
Make sure your phone number is correctly added in your device’s settings. You might also want to check if your number is verified by Apple. If the issue persists, try restarting your device or updating to the latest iOS version.
If you're not seeing the option to activate iMessage with your phone number, try the following steps: Ensure your device is connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data, and make sure you have the latest iOS update. Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and check if your phone number is listed.

Hello, i dont have this tab called Phone numbers, Emails and so on… i am using lates ios and recently upgraded to 15 pro max
it still didn’t work even whne it’s on the list of which to pick, it won’t let me activate it

imma bit late but you need a SIM to use a phone number on Imessages:)
Yep I had a sim but had some country based issues I guess.
iMessage working fine for a few months now 👍👍

I have the same problem now did they ever explain how to fix it? Mine just keeps saying “activation unsuccessful, turn on imessage to try again”

I edited my phone number but it doesn’t show up when o click “send and receive”

Make sure you have a strong signal and try toggling Airplane Mode on and off. Also, try to turn off and on the iMessage in your settings.
