Howdy, low fat mayo is NOT good for you. Stay with full fat. Stay away from putting too much food on your plate, cut WAY DOWN on you booze intake and cut out as much sugar and starch as possible.

Well I was about to respond it's about the carbs, not the fat. But I just looked it up. Regular mayo has 0g carbs. The low fat stuff has 1g per tblsp. What the heck? Guess I'm going back to the regular stuff. Nice! Thanks Chantal!

Beautiful footage of your hike back in. Beautiful!! I really hate to see summer end. Chicken looks amazing. Helpful freezer tip. Wrap each chicken thigh in cellophane before placing them in the freezer bag. Then they won’t be stuck together and you can pull them out as needed. I do that with big ribs too. Lasagna works really well also. It’s only my husband and myself so I cook large portions and freeze leftovers. Nothing like having a home cook freezer pull when you’re just too tired to cook. Open the freezer and deliciousness is 5 minutes in the microwave 😊

    Congratulations on your weight loss.
For me I did keto and intermittent fasting and tons of snorkeling (living by the beach makes it easier). I lost pounds. I also go hiking with a backpack carrying 22 pounds most of which is water, Cyprus is very hot and no where to buy water on the hike. Keep up the good work.
I lived on a campsite for 2 years were we couldn't connect up to water so I had to haul it in. My friend Stewart had his caravan nearer to the beach and the showers on the beach. He would hook up to them once a week and fill the barrels with water for plants and washing up.
Of course it's deerfly season for you.
    Love your brightly coloured shirt.

Type 2 diabetic, I was taking 140 units of slow-release insulin. I am now down to 10 Units of insulin. My liver was very unhappy. Carbs/beer was my prob. I have started drinking again but maintaining my weight. Pea Soup ✌

Yes, you should have staked up your tomatoes.
Yes. Go ahead and water in some soluble (mix in water bucket) vegetable fertilizer. Potted plants suffer from nutrient 'wash out' due to frequent watering. Go get some soon!
Granular will be too slow at this point as plants are bearing.
Sometimes cucurbits will cross pollinate if planted too close to each other. You're gonna have to see what you get.
Never prune a tomato plant during fruit-bearing. Plants needs all photosynthetic capability. Learn to pinch side shoots when the plant is young and growing. Pinch shoot at 2nd leaflet.
Yes, remove yellow/brown/withered plant leaflets near the bottom of the tomato plant, these are picking up soil blight. Remove them daily! Destroy, do not compost.
NEVER waste good fruit. Ask Alicia to explore "canning." Eat tomatoes all winter long!
Let the potato plants do their thing -- sit in the sun growing underground tubers. They'll flop over and eventually turn yellow and involute. That's when you may harvest.
The sunflowers look much better after watering! Don't let them droop so badly -- a signal they need water.

Effective, lasting weight loss takes time. 2lbs/week is considered the healthiest pace. You WILL hit plateaus where you won't lose an ounce for awhile. Don't get discouraged! Consider yourself on a journey to better health and not just weight loss. If you just diet and exercise to lose weight, but don't make permanent life style changes, you will regain the weight. It can be done. I am in my mid 60's and lost 55 lbs and have kept it off, but it didn't happen quickly. Also, use other metrics besides the scale to monitor changes: waist measurement, how your clothes are fitting, how your endurance is increasing, etc. You Can Do This!!

So happy for you guys that you finally are having some success with gardening.! As far as you weight situation for me it is a lifestyle change. Calculating, speed at which you want it off, maybe you should take your foot off the gas here. Keep doing what you are doing (change of diet and exercise) This is the way we should live everyday. Appreciate how much better you feel and are able to do more. Hopefully if you are tempted to return to your old habits you will remember how "gross" you felt carrying around a 50lb football and you can't find your feet. It's depressing!

next year put a cage on your tomatoes and it's easy to trim, the little yellow pumpkin is a female that wasn't pollinated so you can get rid of, I pollinate my pumpkins and squash, google it and it will show you how. All make flowers are at the base of the plant and females are on the runners. I would keep the water system you have now, tomatoes, pumpkins and squash need to be watered at the base, don't water the leaves/plant. I'm not the best gardener but we learn as we go and google lol.

Hey Russell with 2 ss And 2 LL’s. Haven’t been to RR for awhile. Great to see you. I am a recent weight loss person, hitting 61 next month. It’s very Difficult everyone knows the older we get. My no nonsense approach was… eat less Less meat, less portions. You get PLENTY of exercise so you’re ahead of that game. Alot of times, instead of a main dish with sides… I will have one without the other. Just a sandwich, no chips and soda. Or, Just Mac and cheese , no ribs. You get the idea. And less night time eats and drinks. I lost 30 lbs in about a year. I got really frustrated it was slow going. Shrinking how much food your stomach can hold comfortably is key I think. They say a good measure for the amount of food you consume per meal is the size of the palm of your hand (after chewing). That’s about the size of our stomach’s. Good luck. Battle of The Bulge. Not my favorite ❤️

Trust me. You two are NOT terrible gardeners. It’s only where you live and having to hunt for sunshine and find a place to grow and walking long ways and trying to get some kind of water pumped in. If you had a home with a yard attached and lots of sunshine and good soil and piped-in water, I know for fact you two would have a jungle of good stuff growing. I believe it! Yes, you can use green tomatoes. There are lots of recipes. You can even fry them. I’ve done it, but been eons. Check online.
Hmm, you maybe cross bred a cucumber and squash? Would that be a cuash or a squmber? I think I like squmber better. hehe
And cool you’re losing weight! 6 pounds in two weeks is good! Go slow, retrain your eating habits, stick to it, and you’re home free. I’m glad you’re feeling better, too. Yes, you can have a cheat day. They suggest a once a week cheat day, so you don’t feel deprived and completely give up. Maybe switch to diet soda? Or diet tea? Whole wheat bread? Use less (real) mayo, more mustard, forget ketchup that is loaded with sugar, only real cheeses (no fake stuff), pickles that are low or no sugar, lots of tomato and lettuce, stuff like that-makes a good meal, especially if that’s all you eat, no fries, no chips, no dessert. You’d be amazed how, once you set your mind to it and educate yourself and retrain, it starts to happen naturally. It’s all worth it. If you fall off one day, don’t get upset. Just get back on next day. It’s about consistency, not total perfection. We all goof up.
As for always people finding fault with what you do, as for myself I don’t find fault with you folks. I just try to encourage or impart what I’ve learned. I admire you two very much. It’s amazing what you both have achieved and what you can do. And you’re both so cute. And happy together, and I love that best of all. It’s so hard to find a good partner. Believe me I know. I gave up. And then found a dear friend, but I don’t believe he/I will ever be together. Nevertheless a good, long-lasting friendship is worth it.
Anyhow, I hope and pray you both have a long, happy, healthy life, and continue to do fun things. 💕

Garden is exciting! My husband and I are the same.
Can I identify with the weight loss need!
    6 pounds is good!
I have lost 52 pounds in 2012 and over 12 years gained 25 pounds back.
For me I stopped drinking all soda. I did just what you did: 1 a day - then 3 a week - then 2 a week. That was 8 years ago! Finally now it’s been 4 years: no sodas. What makes it easier is if spouse does the same diet!
    He does not.
    He drinks Dr. Pepper, Coke……
    Eats whatever he wants…..
So during most week days at least you can focus on what you eat!
Then on the weekends just eat smaller portions / eat slower when wife is there. It is terribly hard but keep trying. Once you get 20 pounds off then that gives a person More motivation to keep going! Just think by November/December you could reach your goal!
I think by next Spring you’ll feel like building that shed out back!
    That’s a great goal.
If you could get down to 205 would be incredible.
I can see a Garden twice the size you and your wife have now with more energy! Good Luck.

Great comments, Mollie. When I met City Girl, she ate meals really REALLY slow. And I was a fast eater. It took me years to slow down my eating so I didn't finish way slower. I still can't eat as slow as her, but almost. Then when I'm with Ray and we're eating a meal, he's done in 30 seconds and I still take 10 minutes. I can't eat faster anymore! Weird right?

Most people eat until they stop feeling hungry. It takes 15-20 minutes for hunger pains to go away when you start to eat. Eat one sandwich and stop instead of two and wait until the hunger pains go away, eat in moderation, overeating is the problem for most of us. Slow and steady weight loss is better from what I’ve read, you tend to keep it off because you are on a steady diet routine and you’re accustomed to it.

Instead of eating a full meal when you get hunger try eating half a meal or just eat a half of a sandwich, any small amount on your stomach will take away your hunger pains. Eat small amounts of food and you don't half to carry 50 pounds of weight on your back when you walk, that just builds leg muscles and for that you need to eat or all you get out of it is tiredness.
As you get older your body just puts on weight, so its just a cycle you go through when you age. I know I'm 73 years young and getting older isn't any fun anymore. You half to be willing to change your life style to loose weight. MC.

Losing weight has been a life long battle for me. I have only recently began to find the way. Your 50lbs is nothing. But you have to remember to keep it off. Life Change! It is very bad for the health to see saw with your weight. I eat smaller portions. I eat small bits of food through out the day. A handful of fruit for snacking between meals. Nuts are great snack too. Eat your dinner around 5pm and have a small snack sometime before bed time. My son uses butter lettuce to wrap his sandwiches in. It took me years to finally get use to diet soda. Soda is just so bad for us.
I wish you the best of luck in improving your health.

If the potatoes have flowers and they have a seed it will appear as a little green ball like a tiny tomato keep those away from your dogs keep those away from your mouth they're poisonous get rid of them as fast as you can those are the potato seed and they're not good for you make sure you read up on them
