      You're very welcome. I always try to show what the product is really like to use and pick out what's different.... and the throw-lever on the Talion focus wheel is genius!

    • @thomasjacksltd
      @thomasjacksltd  2 года назад +2

      They're both great thermal scopes. If you want to keep size & weight to a minimum & have super simple controls = Go Talion! If you want a more traditional design = Go Thermion (30mm mounting rings).
      The Thermion will edge ahead on image quality with its faster lens and lower NETD but, if you can, try them both out for yourself to see what you think.

    Is there audio and this thermal does have a laser rangefinder built in then?

    • @thomasjacksltd
      @thomasjacksltd  Год назад

      Yes the Talion records video with audio!
      And although it doesn't have a laser range finder it does have something called Stadiametric Range Finding... which is a good approximation of the range of different sized animals based on their size through the view finder.

    Hi Dave what’s the best thermal for pre charged air rifle shooting of ferals etc, it this scope overkill or not

    • @thomasjacksltd
      @thomasjacksltd  Год назад +1

      Thermal is an ideal solution: It'll easily detect the kind of small targets you're aiming at.
      Which thermal depends on the position of your magazine.
      - If that's BEHIND your scope - the Talion would be a great solution.
      - If you need some height because the scope needs to sit ABOVE the magazine, consider a Thermion - (loads of options / standard 30mm rings).
      Contact your local UK retail to see what they've got in stock and try some out for yourself. You can find one in here: tj-fieldsports.co.uk/where-to-buy/

    How far realistically could you take a fox with this? And see the fox fairly clearly to identify it and put the round in the best place

    • @thomasjacksltd
      @thomasjacksltd  Год назад +1

      A Talion will pick up a heat source of a fox at over 800 yards and clearly identify that it is a fox between 200-300 yards (depending on conditions). As for putting a round in the best place, this will vary by individual and the rifle being used; for some that'll be 50 yards, for others 150 yards.

    Hey Jack, i buyed a xm30f monocular based on your info. Completely satisfied, is not the best of course but it meet my expectations, so no regrets :)
    Now looking for thermal scope, this must be a fever :)
    Is talion good enough (definition) to head shot a wild pig at 100m?

    • @thomasjacksltd
      @thomasjacksltd  Год назад

      Glad the Axion XM30F is doing a good job for you.
      I'll have some videos of the new range of Thermion 2 PRO's very soon on the Thomas Jacks RUclips channel. They've got bigger, more capable sensors than the current Talion, so watch this space.

    Anybody know why the hunt the night guy in Australia is saying at 80 mtrs you can’t tell the difference between a wombat and a fox ??? What have you found or did he get a crook 1

    • @thomasjacksltd
      @thomasjacksltd  Год назад +1

      I've not seen the video but there's a few factors which will determine how well animals can be identified through any thermal:
      - Weather conditions (temp and moisture levels)
      - The capability of the thermal (mainly the sensor but also the lens, the viewfinder and the software)
      - The settings that have been selected (incl sensor amplification, smoothing, brightness, contrast and of course focus)
      - The distance involved
      - The animals features (incl size, shape, behaviour in terms of what it's doing, where it is and it's movement... along with other animals in the same habitat that might be confused for the thing you're hoping to see).
      In my Talion video there's a munt jack at over 300m but it only becomes identifiable when it shows its side profile and moves.
      The rule of thumb is you get what you pay for. If you want to identify animals further away, or you're frequently out in difficult conditions, maybe wait for for one of these with a bigger XG sensor. When it's launched I'll hopefully do a comparison.

      @@smokeingcrowswithrobbo995 Sorry for the slow reply pal.
      Pigs at 150 would be fine I imagine as they're a pretty distinctive shape.
      All depends what you need I suppose. Personally, I'd get a good quality thermal spotter and use an IR night vision scope for the actual trigger work.
      Thermals are great for target acquisition but out past 150 meters, they can't touch IR for detail... that's just the nature/limitations of thermal at the moment.

      I think the Pulsar is a hands down winner:
      - up to 9 hr battery live (v/s up to 4.5)
      - Lens 38mm, 10.7 deg FOV (vs 35mm, 10.0 deg)
      - Base mag 2.5x (vs 2.0x)
      - Made in Europe (vs Made in China?)
      - x8 colour palettes (vs x4)
      - SRP in UK £1,599 (vs £2,019 on Amazon)
      ... and judging by the picture quality in the online reviews... I know where I would spend my money (and the £400 SAVING!)

  • @MKChase-uj9vx
    @MKChase-uj9vx Год назад +2

    I dare say this scope has the usual Pulsar build quality... but... don't buy it thinking it will be any good for foxing... it isn't.
    You couldn't tell the difference between a fox and a cat at 75 meters unless possibly on the trot and you can identify the body movement. Just look at the rabbits in the video at 100 meters, they are indistinguishable blobs.
    If you shoot land with badgers, then definitely steer clear as unless your target is 50 meters or closer, a fox and a badger will be hard to tell apart.
    Close range ratting, or rabbits at 50 meters fine... anything else, no... just not got the image capabilities.
    Remember, this is a low price and its Pulsar, (the dearest brand). It will be well made but expect bottom spec visuals. as long as you understand this, then you will be fine.

    I do not understand why people think music while I’m trying to listen to someone speak is a good idea.

    • @thomasjacksltd
      @thomasjacksltd  11 месяцев назад

      I admit it might have got the music levels a bit high on this video - sorry!
      But it's a well established principle (in everything from feature films, to documentaries) that music adds an emotive element that can improve engagement, enjoyment and the retention of information. Sadly there's also a principle that you can't please all of the people all of the time.. but I'll continue to try my best by taking the time to respond and adapt to feedback. Thanks for your comment and I'll turn the music down in future.

      Don't let the music put you off (just turn the volume down). Our aim at Thomas Jacks is to get the latest thermal and night vision tech in front of you and show you what it can do, so you can decide if you want one.
      The one thing you should take out from this video (apart from the terrible music) is the Talion's brilliant, user friendly controls; If I was looking for a first thermal - this would be it.
