    As an engineer, I’ve installed several NEMA 14-50 outlets. Your extension cord should work fine. However, after 3+ hours of use, feel the temperature of male extension plug at NEMA receptacle. A little heat is ok, but if hot, the wires at receptacle are loose and immediately get electrician to fix them.
    Leave both ends of extension cord plugged in. A majority of NEMA 14-50 receptacles are rated for only a few dozen insertions, unless yours is commercial rated. Tesla recommends leaving mobile charger always plugged in.
    For 25% faster charging (40A vs 32A) at home, buy a Gen1 UMC so you can leave one in the car and another at home.

    Last night we had a rare power outage that lasted more then 2 hours. My wife and I were sitting in the dark and I said "Let's go watch TV in the car". She didn't know that was possible. We sat in the car for a couple of hours watching Netflix with the A/C on. That experience may factor into my decision about getting premium connectivity after the 30 day trial expires.

    • @domg7359

  • @domg7359
    @domg7359 Год назад +5

    Ceramic tint is a must. If you live in a hot climate. Makes the car more efficient. Won't really change it if you leave the car unpowered in the sun but makes a big difference maintaining a cool temperature while you drive and using less A/C. I did the roof of mine in ceramic tint as well and you can feel the difference on your head. It's not cheap, about $600 with roof, $400 without, but it is a big comfort improvement and does help efficiency.

    I’ve something to recommend: the Hansshow nfc ring. It makes opening the car without your phone or locking the car without waiting for it to lock on walk away. I use it all the time. There are other companies that make nfc rings that do the same thing but Hansshow’s can be bought with the Tesla logo. Since it has a “face” side the other side can get beat up in normal wear and tear. Lastly i chose a pinky ring making it very easy to swipe on the B pillar.

    I know you feel you won't need it, but I can't recommend the paint protector film enough! You don't need to wrap the whole car, only the front end. That front grill is like a magnet for rock chips and bugs. When I got my M3 I did not get the PPF and regretted it, within months the frontend looked terrible! I ended up spending thousands to have a body shop replace the whole front end it looked so bad. Once I got the PPF installed I never had any issues, the stuff works wonders.

    • @briannedry5346
      @briannedry5346 Год назад

      Yeah the front end is a magnet for rock chips. Should have installed PPF when we got our model 3. Now I'm considering a paint restoration or new paint job. Don't get me wrong the paint on the car as held up well but I have a bit of OCD with my cars because we tend to keep them for a decade or more before getting something new. I always like seeing my cars interior and exterior looking like I just purchased it.

    Personally, I think it’s a plus Tesla does not include floor mats. That allows people to get the floor mats they want, rather than just living with the (overpriced) OEM ones “included” in the sticker price. Yeah, right. Included. Like “free.”
    As for the J1772 adaptor, that was a great feature on a trip we took to Legoland in Carlsbad. They had Chargrpoint Level 2 chargers, free for guests. We stayed there a couple nights, with free charging! As far as I could tell, none of the ICE vehicles got free fossil fuel. So when you’re traveling, look for destination chargers (Level 2). Even if they’re J1772, you’ll be set to get some free electrons!
    Nice video.

Might be a little challenging on foggy or rainy days how often does that really happen.
