I have been a sim pilot for about a year now and have watched many many videos. I am tired of using the G1000 and 3000 and want to get back to basics. Your teaching style is clear and concise. I loved it. One thing got me confused -- what is the difference between GPS and NAV mode?
I feel the same way sometimes. While I appreciate the situational awareness and information you get from the G1000, I always prefer steam gauge cockpits on my general aviation addons. I'm glad you're able to learn something here. The GPS mode essentially tells the autopilot to follow the GPS track IF you've got a route programmed into your Garmin GNS430/530. In NAV mode, the autopilot relies on your VOR and/or localizer (if tuned and properly set) to navigate. For ILS approaches, you want to be in NAV, as you'll tune your NAV radio(s) to the proper localizer frequency and set your course to line up with your localizer.
Apparently it’s a Premium Deluxe variant only. I was unaware at the time of filming this tutorial as I incorrectly assumed it would be included on all versions of the sim.
just in case someone doesnt go through the comments: under the configure and variant selection, this is the Standard config. Should be there somewhere in between the G1000, skis, skydiver options when selecting the 172
@@thatflightsimchannel I tried looking again, I only have the following in order from left to right. G1000 Cargo, G1000 Amphibious, G1000, G1000 Aerial Advertising, G1000 tow, G1000 Skis, G1000 Skydiving. I'm on XBOX so that may be why
@@Rcap238 Man that sucks! If Asobo left out the steam gauge Cessna for XBOX users then that's a bummer. I think its probably the best variant to learn fundamentals on and then transition to the G1000 equipped variants.
How does he have the Cessna 172 SP in MSFS24? I really wanted that airplane because that's what I am training on.. Please could someone teach me how to get it as well ?
Unfortunately, I didn't know that the steam gauge variant was a Premium Deluxe variant. If you bought the standard edition of MSFS2024, you'll have to upgrade to get access to it. It honestly sucks! I'm appalled that Asobo would restrict such an iconic and CRUCIAL trainer from new simmers and instead charge them to get access. Utter madness
@ They don’t have any options to just upgrade the editions, they want me to pay for the whole thing again, and with those $90 are already 1/3 of the price of one hour of my flight lessons in the real world.
@ yea it’s ridiculous! And trust me, I know. Took a personal loan out 9 years ago to finance my PPL and it was the only way I could “afford” to get that certificate. Ended up paying almost double back due to the interest rate I had been given. Well worth it in the end however so stick to it!

The bear at 50:40 had my dying laughing
Glad you saw it! I initially mentioned it when I recorded the video but ended up clipping it out
Just found your channel yesterday and I’m so happy I did!
Welcome aboard! Hope you can learn a thing or two with us.
Great video!
Thank you!
This tutorial taught me a ton of goodness. I might be able to land now without doing a full stall drop lol.
Glad you picked up some helpful tips! Happy Flying!

How can I engage the afterburner on the Cessna 172? Thanks!

Where can I get the Cessna 172 classic for FS 2024? thanks

I am looking for this variant of the Cessna (XBOX) and I don't have it. How do I get this plane?

@@MileHighClub. No it shouldn't matter, If you have Deluxe it'll appear under the configure section when you select the 172. It'll show up as "basic"
