  • HOW I RESCUED MY MONSTERA ESQUELETO
If you've been following along on my plant journey you would have remembered me expressing how much my monstera esqueleto was disappointing me. In my last video I even went as far as giving it a chop. In today's video I show you how I was able to rescue my monstera esqueleto and it has finally given me a large fenestrated leaf!

Gotta add some moss to that pole and it’ll root into it and be happy canoer

I have a cutting in water.. I’m hoping to grow it out this summer.. do you recommend larger pots at first? I am converting my moss poles (they never stay wet in winter shoulda got self watering ones) i got some of the ones similar to you and filled with chunky soil.. do you treat it like a monsters deliciosa in terms of light and care? I want a giant also!

Hey! Hope you’re doing well! I also received a top cutting, which is in water right now. Can you tell me how did your plant do in water since it’s been a few months?

@robsrevive I haven't seen anyone have a self watering moss pole that actually works without issues
What seems to work best based on everything I've seen and my own personal experience is using one of the plastic moss poles you buy and fill up or if you prefer diy using plastic for the back half of the pole.
You definitely don't ever want to use a pot that's unnecessarily large b/c
      1. the risk of root rot is exponentially increased
      2. The plant might exhert all its energy to filling the pot with roots versus putting out leaves

Why does the pole have no moss in it?

I personally just don’t like working with moss

@@leafletco it's the whole point of the moss pole that you have, though, for the roots to have a substrate to grow into, otherwise you might as well get a regular support pole or plank 🤔 you can try giving it an alternative medium if you don't like moss? I've tried seramis and while you do need a finer mesh to keep it from falling out, it worked well to root and esqueleto runner while on the pole.

What is the difference between a Monstera Esqueleto and a Monstera Adansonii?
