Dionysus is usually a goofy mischief maker. It’s an interesting twist to see him as a grumpy guy who REALLY hates his job because his wife got literally dumped by a hero.
Little detail I don’t think anyone else mentioned is in the scene where Selena is holding a flower and Mr.D says he loves you not all but one petal falls off.I like this detail because yk the stereotypical flower thing where they pull flower petals and say he loves me he loves me not and whatever the last petal is is the correct answer. So Mr. D saying he loves you not when only one petal remains shows that he really does love her and that he loves me is the correct answer ( sorry if this made no sense)
things i love about this, in no particular order: -percy looks JUST like i always imagined him in the books -mr d’s slow exasperated spin in the office chair -mr d acts exactly how i feel all the time -mr d looks a lot like alex brightman as beetlejuice? which is a performance i didn’t know i wanted to see until this moment? -the fact that in selena’s imagination, she and beckendorf are both chibi -katie sees selena run frantically from the big house crying harder than she went in, but could NOT be less bothered about it -percy’s jump at katie materializing next to him -KATIE’S FRECKLES OH MY GODS -YOU ENHANCED THE PENCIL SHARPENER JOKE BEYOND ITS ORIGINAL BRILLIANCE -the lovely detail that chiron enters through the back entrance because of his wheelchair -the way percy immediately hugs mr brunner, i’m not crying you’re crying -the fact that chiron’s transformation happens offscreen, not only to accentuate percy’s shock, but also to save the animators some money lol -selena and beckendorf are FIGHTIIIINGGGGGGG but it’s fully resolved by the time we get to the campfire song lol, they clearly do this all the time anyway yes this is brilliant and making the disney plus series live-action instead of animated was an act of pure foolishness

As for Alex Brightman- I designed Mr. D just as I always saw him, but at one point I 100% looked at Beetlejuice for inspiration (in particular Nicole Rodriguez’s version, her Beetlejuice animatics were a big influence for this one!!) and I love that you could pick up on that 😂 I also love Katie so much in this musical, she is just a force of chaos and I am 100% here for it!

I’m halfway through the main pjo series (I just started the third book) and honestly Mr.D is one of my favorite characters. He’s so over-dramatically grumpy, and that makes sense because he’s also the god of theater. I love him.

ITS FINALLY OUT!!!! And it looks amazing!!! The sunflowers part was so smooth! And the pencil sharpening part was perfect. And the part where Zeus got angry at him because of the wine and- Frick it, everything was perfect in this animatic.

I’ve been wondering, what does Katie Gardener eat? Like most people who are strongly pro nature are vegetarians. But she vouches for plants specifically (despite Demeter being goddess of the harvest and agriculture aka edible plants). So is she purely carnivorous?? (Sorry if this is answered in the books. I haven’t actually read them. I just have a friend who rants about Percy Jackson to me.)
I love this question so much 😂 I definitely don’t think it was answered in the books at all. She doesn’t have a large part in the books, so it’s pretty fun to make head cannons about her. As funny as it would be to think she is just carnivorous, I personally think she wouldn’t mind eating plants, because of the fact that her mom is the goddess of the harvest. Harvesting isn’t necessarily killing the plants, so I think that’d be fine with her. But arrows? They could be made of other materials! And needlessly sharping a pencil? How dare you! Basically, the way I see it, she’ll eat plants because that has a purpose, but then she’d yell at people for cutting across grass because the sidewalk is right there.

I’ve been wondering, what does Katie Gardener eat? Like most people who are strongly pro nature are vegetarians. But she vouches for plants specifically (despite Demeter being goddess of the harvest and agriculture aka edible plants). So is she purely carnivorous??
(Sorry if this is answered in the books. I haven’t actually read them. I just have a friend who rants about Percy Jackson to me.)
I love this question so much 😂 I definitely don’t think it was answered in the books at all. She doesn’t have a large part in the books, so it’s pretty fun to make head cannons about her. As funny as it would be to think she is just carnivorous, I personally think she wouldn’t mind eating plants, because of the fact that her mom is the goddess of the harvest. Harvesting isn’t necessarily killing the plants, so I think that’d be fine with her. But arrows? They could be made of other materials! And needlessly sharping a pencil? How dare you!
Basically, the way I see it, she’ll eat plants because that has a purpose, but then she’d yell at people for cutting across grass because the sidewalk is right there.
Also, I highly recommend the books! Obviously I’m a big fan of them lol
