As an 82 year old man, I have just fallen in love with a Lady who passed on 35 years ago at an all to early age of just 44. Someone badly needed an Angel to take her so soon. I was in a time warp to miss Kate then. Thanks to modern miracles I can sit and listen to her now thanks to RUclips.
I too have discovered her really late in life. I am 80. She and I were both born in San Francisco around the same time. I have lived for years in the Northeast but in my heart I am still a Californian and this song brings back wonderful memories of a California childhood. I only discovered her because of my love for the song Across The Great Divide. I had listened a lot to the great cover of that song by the late Nancy Griffiths and I always wondered who had actually written it which led me to Kate. Glad I made the journey. It's never too late to discover talent, Pity her work was overshadowed by so many other artists. People outside of Northern California hardly knew she existed and it seems she was okay with that.
I’m 62 years old and just discover this song maybe a day or two ago. I first heard a cover as done by AJ Lee. I thought it was beautiful. Now I came across the original by Kate Wolf. This is just simply a beautiful song and it’s just so sad that for whatever reason I never heard it before.
I only discovered Kate about a month ago, I was looking at tributes to Nanci Griffith, who passed away on the 13th of August this year and, I just a video of Kate Wolf singing Green Eyes, I was blown away by her singing guitar playing and the song itself, so I have sent away for a got a video of here A Night In Austin and a couple of CDs, I have now listened to Green Eyes about 30 times now, I think it's the best thing I've heard for many years. She is a great loss to the music world.
It's been said that we live many lives as our spirits come and go through one lifetime after another. Kate had the gift of guiding people back to a time before. Although she is gone from this life, her songs and her music can still soothe the soul and bring peace and serenity to our earth bound spirits. We are truly fortunate to have her recordings that can and will continue to perform the magic that she intended for our weary souls.
Please listen to Eva Cassidy... Another angel that passed through this earthly life and has moved on but left behind her gift that somehow links our souls to the spiritual world...
Kate was all heart & soul baring - lucky to see her a # of times bc she played with another favorite group - Cache Valley Drifters. As back then, her voice & songs still pings me hard in the heart ! Love to All
Kate's music broke the walls around mylifelong bachelor and left him gasping with a heart opened to love. THANK YOU KATE. MAY YOU LIVE ON IN HEARTS AND LIVES RICHENED BY THE LOVE YOU SREAD.
Kate Wolf's music still resonates with me so strongly. Her passing was a true loss, but she left us with so many treasures. She lived in our valley during her final years and sometimes sang at the Community Center..... my daughter and her step-daughter played together.
Oh , how lucky you are that you knew Kate Wolf and that she lived in your neighbourhood ! She was such a precious singer and songwriter ! I can ‘ t explain how much I do love her wonderful music ! I am living in Gemany and 73 years old. Hannelore Antes
I met up with Kate Wolf back in the mid 70s, I was about 27 and a bit younger than Kate. It didn't take long to know just what a pure talent she was and I still love listening to her music .. It does thrill me when I hear people say I just discovered her and they love her just as much as those who have known her music for all these years ..
When I see Kate, she reminds me of a dear friend who also passed at about the same age as Kate was. And she could have been Kate's twin. They look that much alike. I miss her a lot still. It makes me tear up whenever I think of her. Elizabeth, I miss you so much. I will never forget you.
This song enraptured me in awe many, many years ago in Calgary Alberta at the Folk Club.I was mere feet from her and Nina. From her heart to my heart via many ,many life experiences, what else could you call them, there was a kinship of spirits. She knew my angst and I knew her wisdom.Thank you Nina for those haunting opening notes I could never master.Oh how I longed to capture even a small bit on my guitar. What peace they passed onto so many listeners after all these decades.Contentment.Thank you Kate and Nina.
I heard Nina's first public performance (it might have been a house concert? though that I'm not sure about... it was a small concert, in Sonoma County). She played a solo on mandolin; she was studying with Don Coffin, Kate's husband, and they introduced her. She was amazing then, too, of course - as was Kate! We lost Kate way too soon.
Emperor her music is so powerful and touches our hearts MY HEART SOARS WHEN I LISTEN AND EVEN SEEING HER FACE IS SO BEAUTIFUL like you 80 and just recently discovered her

i am here in california, near stony brook road, the land of kate wolf. so good to hear her voice again and her timeless messages embedded in these beautiful songs.
Her music is just timeless as all good music seems to eventually become. Even though I have only recently found her, now I will treasure her wonderful voice and lyrics. We need more people singing ballads like these--the stories just touch your soul!!
Little before my time but I know great meaningful music when I hear it. Sang at a time when music had true meaning. Thanks Kate for offering something beautiful to this world. Each time I hear this song, it's like the first.
Wonderful. I loved (love) her approach: keep it simple, play it pure and let the perfect come out. Such a loss. BTW, God bless Nina Gerber for having the fine instinct that told her to help Kate make this music. That was just...one of the good things in this life.
Ouais c'est magnifique cette femme j'ai jamais entendu cette femme elle je veux pas écouter ça fait pleurer non j'ai eu plaisir d'écouter cette musique
One of my lovelest songs. I like a Lot of Art oft music mostly bluegrass. But this song is the greatest. This guithar sound really really nice. Best wishes from country town remblinghausen.
They left us long ago. Their wonderful voices. Thanks to digital memories when we still wait for their time to come. But maybe..., someday their souls again shall be?
Erich Nussbaum Of course, Molly made it big time a few years ago. For about a month, I have been hearing AJ quite often on the satellite radio. Makes me happy.
Kate is all things California. There is no place like this awesome and diverse state and there is no singer I'd rather hear on certain evenings in Pauma Valley.
Special in so many wise and wonderful ways. If you listen to her for very long you will find yourself seeking her out just out of the blue and some small thing in one of her songs will resonate in your heart so deeply and will have such a strong connection to something you are going through that it will take your breath away. Kate is eternal and will be eternally missed.
Voice of an angel. Peaceful and heartfelt. I can't thank you enough for the upload. I feel lost now. There was a time in the late 70's and early 80's when Kate's music (and other similar artists) helped me find myself. I hope, by listening to her music (magic) again, I can reconnect again with who I used to be. I'm planning on attending the 2018 Kate Wolf festival. Blessings, peace, and grace to all.
I have no idea why I had never heard of Kate Wolf before in my like, but I surely like her genuine voice of Americana. So sad to see she passed long before.
How did I not know this singer/songwriter extraordinaire? I'm sure glad I was led to her. Haven't stopped listening to her for a week. My teenaged daughter is learning some of her stuff now. I can't wait to sing together with my girl, just for fun. Taken far too soon you beautiful angel Kate. I love the line "there's no Gold, thought I'd warn ya"...could relate to so many things.....God I love this woman.
Eddie Torres, Jr. , thanks for that beautiful comment . I hope many people will read it as they listen to this lovely music and thoughtful words. George Lewis, SR.

If you've fallen in love dear "old" emperor, then you're 82 years young, because love is something only the young at heart can do.

I just discovered her a year ago. I’m 67 and I can’t believe I never heard her.
Kates voice is comforting like a warm blanket in winter.
I was busy running and surviving for the most of my young adulthood. I recently found Kate - I am an instant Kate Wolf fan. What lovely music.
Love this lady who has profoundly touched my soul - I'm 78 and listen to her often.
This is a Beautiful Song from a Great Artist who passed away way too soon. Rest in Peace Kate Wolf 🙏 God bless your Soul 🌹

Kare Wolf Nanci Griffith both great storytellers who left too soon. They live on as long as we listen to their music
Here on the West Coast looking across the Atlantic into the rain glistening on the cattle and donkeys , California seems as much a dream as this song.
This is one of those songs that grabs you by the gut and makes you happy and sad at the same time. Thank you Kate!
